I don't normally post reviews, but can sum up this place in one word: USELESS. I live right next door and twice have put my faith that they carry simple basics when needed, and both times walked out the door emptyhanded. I recently went in to get some eggs to find that they don't even have that. And when I inquired about it, the woman working there answered no in a manner and tone that was rude and showed confusion. Like it was absurd that I would ask, as if I was disappointed they didn't sell Lobster Thermidor or something. Trust me people- don't bother with this place. This was a call in order for a steak and cheese with onions. May have been the most disappointing steak and cheese I ever had. Actually got home and redid it. Grilled some onions added some more cheese heated it up some. Probably won't be back. Outside of that, it has a comfortable location. The service was fast and friendly. This was my 3rd visit to Lazy Mary's , and they never disappoint! Of course, the pizza is wonderful, but did you know they make the freshest, most generous, and delicious salads? I love the Greek salad they make using the finest feta cheese and crispiest greens and veges topped with a giant cup of the most marvelous dressing (on the side, of course). I add their tender grilled chicken, and I'm in heaven. Lazy Mary's is honestly one stop shopping... especially before a snowstorm. Whenever I go, I always pick up 1/2 gallon of milk, a pint of Ben & Jerry's, and a treat from their wonderful, fancy dessert case. Liking the baked goods more than the pizza. The pizza isn't bad, but the dough needs work. It tastes young. Try aging it for more character. Hotter oven might help too. But that hazelnut fudge bar was great and I want to try some of the other baked goods. I hear the subs are pretty good. I went in at an off time so service was fast and pleasant. Sat outside and ate. This is a place you go to if no other pizzeria are open. The toppings aren't bad but the dough is quite terrible. As you can see in the attachment the presentations of the toppings look great but the taste of the dry unsavory dough is what throws off the entire pizza. Obviously give it a try for yourself, I personally wouldn't recommend. Honestly a 4/10 just because of the toppings. There is much more than pizza on their menu but as it pertains to pizza 10 out of 10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more

We've been regular customers since moving to town 2 years ago. The subs are pretty good! The same woman is always at the counter and typically pleasant enough - until tonight. I paid for the 4 subs we ordered over the phone plus 4 bags of chips ($50). She put the 4 chip packages on top of the subs in the bag, handed me the bag of food, and I drove home to discover only 3 of the 4 subs I paid for were in the bag. I called, said I was missing a sub, and she said, "Oh the meatball sub? Would you like to come and pick it up?" Odd response, but okay... I drove back. She recognized me and handed me the sub without saying anything. I hesitated, and she said, "You're all set." I hesitated again then said, "I'm just surprised that you're not offering anything for my trouble." She said nothing. Not one word. She turned around and walked away. C'mon, people. Everyone makes mistakes, and a simple, "I'm so sorry about that!" would've taken care of it. A, "Here have a cookie on us!" would've inspired good will -- especially since we average $40-50 a week in there. Nope, she turned her back on a regular customer and didn't deign to apologize. I gave 3 stars because, like I said, the subs are pretty good. Too bad that'll be the last time we patronize Lazy Mary's. read more

Disappointing. Another sandwich (my 3rd) with missing ingredients. I ordered a meatball sub with cheese and pickles. Got home only to find that it has no cheese or pickles in it. The last thing I ordered was a veggie wrap, which says it has hummus in it (the protein.) But, no hummus. Before that I rdered a curry checken wrap, which says it is on a bed of field greens. Got it home only to find there's no field greens in it. The store told me they didn't have the field greens because I had ordered on a Saturday and thgey were going to be closed on Sunday, so they didn't have any field greens. Most recently they told me the staff doesn't speak English so the counter woman can't communicate with the sandwich makers. I had previously thought this place was great, but I don't know why I'm paying to not get what I ordered. I'll go elsewhere next time. read more

Just awful. I've never written a Yelp review before but I feel that it would be irresponsible if I didn't let people know of the woeful experience I had here. I asked for a large Italian sub with everything on it, but with pickles on only half. I was told, "We don't do half condiments. You can either have pickles on the whole thing or no pickles." I said, "That's weird", and the person behind the register just stared at me and shrugged. When I received what I'll refer to as The Lettuce Sandwich, which cost nearly $12, it had 3 pieces of meat on each half (don't worry the mortadella was folded in half to make it look like 4 pieces of meat). Also, evidently "everything on it" here is lettuce, tomato and oil. No hot peppers, no onions, and clearly no pickles on half because this is the only place I've ever heard of that "doesn't do condiments on half". The "sandwich" was basically a $12 loaf of bread with a fistful of lettuce inside. Until today I'd never ordered a sub and finished garnishing it when I got home. I also ordered a large roast beef and horseradish, which sounded delicious on paper! What a shame to receive another lettuce sandwich with a garnish of roast beef. There was less meat on the roast beef than on the Italian! I actually wondered if the sandwiches were premade and waiting for some poor sap like me to order them. Too many good businesses have failed in the last year for this trash heap to still be standing. I thought the name "Lazy Mary's" was tongue in cheek, wow do I feel stupid for giving them my money! This used to be my local go-to for pizza,the foods still great and that's the only reason they get two stars and not one. What's changed? Prices have gone up beyons unreasonable,both compared to other local businesses and others father away. If you call past 5PM good luck getting service,delivery? Forget it. Pickup? Almost as bad. Called today for the first time in awhile hoping they had improved (been about six months) called around 5:50 was told they wouldn't even be doing more pizzas until 7pm....really? If your prices have gone up that much ...expand ...hire more ..buy more ovens or something. This place is really being incredibly mismanaged for a place that really could be a killer place...but as it stands my long running five stars has to be dropped to a 2. Not a bad place in the area. Definitely have the best Italian sub. Love their bbq tenders, bbq pizza and fries/onion rings. It saddens me that I cannot give more than two stars for the food I recieved. The customer service is beyond excellent. The young girl ally was genuine and sincere, the owner Wendy was pleasant and friendly , the food...was below poor standards. I waited a normal amount of time to receive a well cooked Philly cheese steak and I decided to snack on a m&m cookie which surprisingly was extremely soft and delicious. I was handed my sandwich in a reasonable amount of time and proceeded down the street 250 feet to my house where I went into my house and was extremely disappointed at the lack of heat the steak had. The only thing I could tell was heated was the bread and cheese. Science dictates that there is not a possibly of rapid cooling of a sandwich that fast. The Philly cheese steak wasn't even warm. The owners care about their shop but it's the employees which are bringing down,their ratings and for that reason I will drive a further distance from my house to get quality food. Or look up sauerkraut prices online. Suggest their deli department take a review course on sandwich essentials, and front desk staff focus more on customer satisfaction. I used to like coming to this place,that all changed today. I've been a very reliable customer of this place for a number of years, a day last week I called in a sub went to pick it up and also got an iced tea with my meal but driving home I realized I had left the ice tea sitting in front of the register. Today I called in another sub on my way home and grab an ice tea out of the cooler at the register I told the woman I had bought an ice tea last week but I had forgotten it and left it by the register. The woman at the register said oh well I wasn't working that day,charged me for the ice tea and sent me on my way not giving two shits about the fact that I had bought an ice tea and never got it. We have been customers since they opened - and there have been a lot of issues, that have been forgive & forget, but after tonight's episode, I am done. 1) the staff are incompetent and rude. They cannot manage the in-store customers and their phone calls - and they frequently drop calls on hold. I never got to complete my order before the person at the counter went off on a prolonged catering order for a later date. When someone new came to the counter, I gave up on ordering the rest of my order (since 10-15 minutes had now been lost) - and when asked if that was all, a part of my order sitting on a counter wasn't included in the total. The new (rude) person made it clear that it was my fault that I did not ask her to audit what was on the register before agreeing to 'is that all?'. I left taking the partial order to get out as fast as I could. They omitted the salad dressing - and no service set. 2) I ordered a salad without tomatoes - someone took a salad with tomatoes and picked them off, and brought it back. Apparently, that was my fault too, according to the counter staff. I would NOT trust them with any allergy issues - they're clueless and arrogant, a dangerous combination. 3) getting what you order is hit and miss - seeing how poorly they run the shop makes it obvious why 4) the quality is inconsistent Horrible - and getting worse. read more

After working as a manager in a busy pizza kitchen for 4+ years, I was hired here, worked a week, then fired. It really was for the better. Also a funny experience. At one point, the woman who owns the place literally chest bumped me in an attempt to get me out of her way. "Oh, my bad," I said. "You shouldn't have been in my way," she says. 15 minutes later, I'm fired! Drive 10-15 minutes in any direction and find yourself a place with real food and fresh ingredients. Good for a quick sub if you're local and hungry. Menu is limited, but the subs, on average, are decent. Pricey, but decent. Rings and fries are fine, and there's also a nice selection of cookies and other desserts to round out the meal. Now, the pizza is a different story. I don't know who the hell taught Mary to make sauce, but Christ, that person needs a slap. Opening a can of tomatoes and spreading it on dough is not protocol in any Italian cookbook I've ever seen. There are these crazy spices out there called basil, garlic, pepper, hell even oregano or salt. Try them out, they're pretty cheap, and they'd vastly improve your pizza. Also, the staff can be a bit sassy, so just go with it or go elsewhere if you're hyper sensitive. It's Ayer, not NYC. Overall decent in a pinch, but learn to make a decent sauce! read more

This place is right next to my house and I finally decided to give it a try. It's small inside, with just a couple tables for dining in. They offer a range of meals from pizza to subs and pasta. They also have deli meat and dessert available. I got the special of the day chicken parm with pasta meal and my husband got the chicken parm sub. We both enjoyed our meals but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The food wasn't spectacular and definitely not worth how much they charged. The chocolate cannoli we bought on our way out was good. The only reason we may come back is because it's within walking distance to our house. read more
