I wanted to order something to be delivered to our hotel room. GrubHub can be a pain to set up and I was like hell with this. This spot was recommended to me by the front desk clerk and it was worth ordering. I ordered a Greek Salad and a think crust Sausage and Cheese Pizza. It was $20 that's a deal. Mythe salad was huge and fresh two people could eat it no joke. Full of lettuce, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and olives and cheese. The dressing was a nice complement of a creamy Greek dressing. Also it came with a warmed u large piece of pita and utensils a plus. The pizza was pretty good but being from Chicago and having that and NY City pizza it's respectable but a little doughy and toothsome. The cheese and sauce was good and the sausage was a little spicy in a good way. For the price it's good. Now calling in was a riot, the guy who answered was pretty matter s fact and took my order, address and room number, but did not take my name or credit card. Luckily I asked the front desk what's the deal and said call them back they will show up with it but it's best to pre pay. Not a problem and the guy was way cool. The delivery guy was cool and I appreciated the expediency of the delivery.. I think if I'm in the area again I'd try them for some other things. The price is right and the portions are huge. Give them a whirl. It's old school.. Whole experience (calling in and delivery)4.5 Pizza 3.5 outta 5 Salad 4 outta 5 read more

I'm a truck driver stuck at a warehouse this evening. Found this lil place on YELP. Reviews looked good so I thought...let's give it a whirl. I opted for the Cheeseburger Sub/Grinder!! So glad I did. I got the large version, toasted of course. It arrived within the time it was supposed to. Driver was friendly and polite. I did leave him about a 25% tip. Glad it worked out. Not getting loaded any quicker, but at least my stomach won't be mad at me anymore. Can't wait to get outta here as I'm heading back to Florida where it's a bit warmer. Always enjoyed a good cheeseburger grinder. This was pretty good as far as that goes. I would definitely recommend it. read more

I ordered the calzone with sausage during the lunch hour. It comes with onions and bell peppers. It was a good size portion, but the problem for me was that it was too soggy. The liquid from the veggies sweat out during the baking process and makes for a sloppy experience. The dough in the middle was perhaps a little thin too, making it flimsy to eat. Not surprisingly, the crust around the edges was really thick. In terms of flavor, it wasn't too bad though. I saved the other half and ate it later. Ironically, I think it tasted better and easier to handle once I took it out of the fridge and reheated it. Overall, not great, but not bad. I definitely wouldn't mind trying the pizza next time. read more

Food - The pizza is always fantastic and consistent. The sides I've tried have also been great. Service - Bill is awesome. Call in, place your order, go get it in 20 minutes. No nonsense on the phone, so know what you want so Bill can get it going. Some might describe his demeanor on the phone as terse, but guy's got pizzas to make and you want pizza to eat, so help each other out OK? Ambiance - It's a pizza shop. There are tables such that you *could* eat there, but why? read more

Was on business trip and came across late night (think 7:00 pm) and order a cheese steak. Wow it was soooo goooooood. The best thing I have had in this state... It was affordable and great portion. The peppers, onions, and mushrooms was perfectly sliced and the flavor was beyond. When returning definitely hitting this place up again. read more

Ordered a large cheese pizza and a large fry. Only went there because of a gift card. Needless to say I was very impressed with the taste of everything. Fries were crisp and well seasoned, pizza was flavorful and the guys behind the counter were super welcoming and courteous. Great Friday night meal after a long work week. read more

I love this pizza place. It's the best pizza in the area imo. The food is always consistent and we love the owner. It's the towny Greek style pizza with a nice crunchy crust. We've never had a poor experience with any of the food we've gotten here. read more

Moved into the area and told this place was great. Well... We have tried it twice, once for pizza and once for subs. This pizza was not hand made, and the rest of the pizza was just blah. We had 6 people and all have a big thumbs down. No one finished their pizza not wanted seconds. Heard their subs we're really good and so I gave them a second chance. Nope, boring as could be. My son asked if they actually put cheese on the steak & cheese sub. It was a few thin slices on the bread, not melted, bland. 2 for 2. Never going back. read more

After moving to Ayer, we immediately began the task of searching for our new pizza joint. It was a lengthy scientific evaluation process spanning several months (and several pizzas). The results are finally in and we can safely say that Devens Pizza is the best pizza in the Ayer/Shirley area. There is no debate- It's science, folks. Great prices too. read more

Regularly get my pizza from Billy. His greek style pie has a sweet tang to it and a very thin bottom crust with a doughy, large edge crust. Large fungi, black olive, and pineapple. Best pie in the area. We have also used his services for large disc golf tournaments and the food is always fresh and plentiful. read more

Such a nice surprise. I was on a bicycle andy desperate to use facilities; otherwise, in a car I would have driven by as I usually do. It's not fancy outside. Actually it looks a bit grim. This place needs to be called out for the way they do business !! We ordered a Pizza & a small order of wings a few weeks ago for delivery, and the driver told me it was $31.00 ?? I asked for a receipt & he said he didn't have one. I paid cash & gave him a $7.00 tip , but when he left I thought it was pretty expensive , so I called to check the pricing and the owner answered the phone . I gave him all my information. Ph# / Address/ and what we ordered, and how much the kid driver said it cost !! The owner informed me that my bill should have been $21.00 & he would talk to driver & take care of us the next time we ordered as we ordered regularly from them !! Tried to order last night & spoke to owner , he was very rude and said he never spoke with me or said he would take care of the pricing from the last order !! He also yelled at me and said I shouldn't have waited so long to order again and I told him that it was okay because we would never order from there again & would encourage others to do the same !!!! Well I'm impressed with Yelp reviews!!! The owner of this establishment must have seen the review & realized that we were regulars !!! Because I just received a voice mail from him apologizing for his response last night & telling us that we were 100% correct & that he would make things right !!! That takes a lot to admit they were wrong & I truly appreciate him taking the time to let us know !!! We truly do like the great food they have there !! read more

Delicious pizza made by a friendly Italian owner! Highly Recommended! I really needed something this good 9n my trip read more

I get pizza here a lot, much better than Pizza Fort. I usually get the standby pepperoni and mushroom, Hawaiian is always good too. The calzones are also pretty sizable. Only a couple times have I had the pizzas slightly burned underneath, but the cheese and the sauce are things I like about this place. The owner is very friendly, it works well to call ahead though. Good advice would be to check your pizza before you walk out with it, as I have been given the wrong pizza a few times, but it's good for a laugh. **No longer cash only! Finally!** read more

Avoid getting sick and order pizza elsewhere. My family is 0 for 3 with Devens Pizza and getting nausea from their low quality cheese. When we stopped by to grab a quick bite, the owner was so preoccupied with his kitchen he didn't have time for the counter or the customers. Great location. Terrible pizza. With so much competition, I'd expect some care or concern about their customers and service. read more

Devens Pizza is one of the best places you can get lunch/dinner in entire Middlesex County. The owner cares about his customers and makes a point to have conversation every time you visit the restaurant. He is truly a special person and the food here is undeniably delicious. The prices are more than fair for the quality you receive. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area or visiting the area!! read more

All my reviews are short sweet and to the point to keep your day rolling. Pros: the prices! Prices are insanely cheap! Menu selection is decent appetizers are good too! They DO deliver CONS: delivery took 65 minutes...for an Ayer TO Ayer delivery?!?! Pizza was luke warm crust HARD as a rock! Semi greasy and the toppings barely existant. I seriously question anyone here who reviewed there pizza as good..you obviously have NEVER tasted good pizza. Sorrentos while not perfect is also right near by and FAR superior (though more costly). The cottage is also a better alternative near by. All in all i can not reccomend this establishment based upon this experience read more

We have enjoyed the pizza from Devens Pizza in the past but last time we had it delivered the person delivering charged us $10.00 extra and when we asked for a receipt he didn't have one. We called the owner who told us he would "take care of us next time" . We ordered a month later and the owner said he would never have said that and denied the phone conversation. We won't be going there again. After posting this review the owner called and apologize about this incident and said he was wrong. I really appreciate that and glad we can still do business there because we do like their pizza. I guess everybody can have a bad day. read more

Hosted an event inside of Devens. Ordered four large pizzas, asked if they could get the pizza in squares, two of the four were cut in squares and not evenly. The sauce was good but the pizza was your typical insert your name house of pizza with the frozen dough. read more

My family and I have been ordering from here for close to 30 years. I grew up as most people do, and moved a few towns away, but when I visit my dad we always order takeout from here. Very consistent food and friendly staff, and I've never had a bad meal from here. read more

It was ok. I had the jalapeno poppers which were frozen and deep fried and the pizza was good, that is the only reason why this place is getting 3 stars instead of 1. read more

Devens Pizza & Deli is just alright, nothing special. If you are craving a grinder or pizza I recommend you go elsewhere.

It's hands down the best pizza place in the area. I've been coming here for 13 years or so. The owner is an awesome guy as well.

Great pizza with reasonably fast delivery. We haven't tried the rest of the menu but have heard the subs are also good.

I like thin crust pizza, this is the best in the area. I generally get a plain cheese pizza so have no view of other toppings. Owner is friendly and I look forward to talking with him when I pickup. read more

Been going here for years. Even when it was called Archie's. The owner is very nice and takes care of his customers. He does not tolerate being disrespected or his shop as well which I have seen with certain people that go in there. As anyone else shouldn't. Prices by far beat prices anywhere else in town. Subs are fantastic and always loaded. Not a sub where you get a two slices of meat and all bread. Pizza is good, but not great. Great pasta dishes, and salads. Broccoli poppers are the best in my opinion as a side order. Don't let the hole in the wall pizza joint appearance steer you away. Give this place a try. read more

went here tonight to give them a chance. I wish I had spent my $30 somewhere else. We got mozzarella sticks and two steak and cheese extra cheese subs. The steak and cheese were BONE DRY. there wasn't even a NORMAL amount of cheese in there, nevermind EXTRA cheese! And despite the cheese, the meat itself was BURNT it was so dry. the mozzarella sticks were luke warm. haha do not waste your time. Even the guy who answered the phone was rude and didn't even bother to try to take down our payment - good thing we clarified before he rushed off the phone that we needed to give him our Visa. I have no idea how this place got REAL four and five star reviews..... read more

Wonderful place! He makes the best Italians. We come out from worcester every weekend to get them! The owner is very friendly !

My review is based on a number of years going to lunch with my wife, usually 3-4 times per month. We have always ordered the same thing - the Devens Special sub - so I can't speak to the pizza or other subs. But we like the Special so much that we drive considerably further than to other nearby restaurants in order to get it. We do live far enough away (southwest side of Harvard) that they don't deliver to our house or we would try their pizza and other things for suppers. read more
