So I came here first thing this morning and surprisingly, I was the only customer in the store. That being said, I was helped immediately. They have so many different types of paints here, I really wasn't sure about which type to get. We needed something good that would be able to be cleaned easily, so the nice employee suggested the Duration paint with a matte type of finish. He said it was the second best paint that they offer behind Emerald. I purchased two gallons with two completely different colors, which would be more than enough paint for the two rooms. Now will come the fun part as we try to get paint on the walls, and not over everything else!

I still am not thrilled with my earlier experience where DC Sherwin Williams were out of paint…read moresamples, but this location helped me dispose of paint easily which I really appreciated. DC has some PaintCare program where local paint supply companies will accept your paint to dispose of instead of you having to go to Fort Totten trash site on Thursdays or Saturdays - and all Sherwin Williams locations seem to participate. Someone at another location said they're only supposed to accept 5 gallons of paint - although I didn't see that anywhere on the PaintCare site - but this location rolled out a cart to my car and helped me dispose of about 10 old cans of paint!

I've been going to this store for years and always loved the experience. The guys here are…read moreprofessional, knowledgable, and the paint really is high quality. The place is kind of a hole in the wall, but they have everything you could possibly need. That being said, a recent experience soured me to the store a bit. I went in by myself and was pretty clueless about what I would need for a home improvement project. I hadn't bought paint in quite some time and had no idea what prices were like. After talking to some friends after my purchase, I realized the guy up-sold me pretty significantly and the paint I'd bought was a premium product. Definitely not what I needed. I went back to the store and exchanged the paint for a cheaper version. The man at the register was really nice and apologetic and I got a full refund on the initial purchase. The takeaway here for me is: If you want high quality paint, this is the store to go to in DC, but make sure you know what you want and have a price range in mind.
