I really want to give Ace Hardware a glowing review, especially because the staff has been consistently friendly and welcoming every time I've visited. The store itself is always super clean, well-organized, and fully stocked with a great range of options for whatever you might need. Bonus points for parking too even though it's street parking only, I've never had trouble finding a spot! That said, I did run into an issue when I came in to have a key fob copied. Unfortunately, not only was the fob unable to be duplicated, but it was also accidentally deactivated during the process. Since it happened on a Friday evening, I wasn't able to reach my apartment management for a replacement, and ended up being without access for over two weeks. Despite that frustrating experience, I want to emphasize how great the team is overall. Everyone I've interacted with has been kind and helpful, and I truly enjoy shopping at this location. I just hope that, moving forward, there's a bit more caution with items like key fobs to prevent similar issues. read more

This was my first time finding out that there is an Ace Hardware store in Arlington, VA! Very pleasantly surprised. I had lots on my list to buy, and most of which this spot provided. However, with such little time until closing, I couldn't meander and enjoy the variety. I had to narrow down and look exactly what I was looking for: - key duplication - swag hooks - command tape I got everything that I needed, though I wish I was able to buy another plant! They have a lovely variety especially now that it's summer time. My partner and I also tried the random Denver Chocolate near the register (Hammond's) and it was the best random chocolate we ever bought! A nice balance of sweet, salty, and novelty. The other day, my kitchen lights crapped out, so I rushed to the Ace to get replacement bulbs before the store closed. I thought I got the right voltage and size, but when I got home, I found out that I got the wrong size bulbs. I went back the next day and explained the situation and they were really cool about me exchanging bulbs. The gentleman at the counter was very friendly and gave me my refund for the difference in price in a matter of minutes. I've been going here since the place opened and they have never let me down. I purchased a large mirror that came with the incorrect screw size and it's been challenging trying to find the correct size to fit the mirrors hardware. I came in on Thursday (02/29/24) and again today (03/03/24). Will helped me on Thursday and while the screws didn't fit, he was wonderful. This is the best most friendly hardware store I've ever been in, hands down, pencils up, get down get down, up up and away, down down down... to the bottom of the valley. That last one's a Cher reference... cause of course it is. So... originally I went in asking about water pressure in the shower. Not only was the woman who helped me knowledgeable on the shower-heads they offered, she stuck with me and took me anywhere and everywhere I needed to go in the store. She even pointed towards the restroom when I needed it, and kindly took my shopping basket to the front of the store so I didn't have to lug it around. I mean... first experience was great. And guess what... it was not a fluke. I went back and the second experience matched if not exceeded the first. The woman who helped me this time was just SO kind, helped me find some stripper... (paint stripper, get you mind out of the gutter), a scraper, took a look for a few other things. Honestly, going into this hardware store... it's almost like you get a personal shopper that goes with you. Finding certain nails and screws can be difficult. I don't think I even have to mention how daunting it is going into Home Depot and looking for the literal needle in the haystack. Except the needle is still the size of a needle, and the haystack is a mega warehouse. These guys are so nice and they have everything I need, all of the time. I do not live in the area and actually drive to Twins from DC because I like their service. They seem to have way too many people working there, and ALL of them are super helpful. In fact, I find it easy to call ahead, get the products I need pulled by a team member, and then show up to make the purchase. I'm in an out in a flash and it's just so easy and, honestly, fun to stop by this hardware store. The service is top notch! The location is easy to access and there is usually ample street parking within a block of the store. This store is pet friendly and while I find that kind of annoying, it's probably nice for people who just can't leave their pet at home. I feel like I should bring my cat just to say that I did it. Mostly I always feel like these people are just so easy going. Today I asked for a product they didn't have and they ordered it on the spot. This location isn't where I would schlepp to but I was in the area. There are lots and lots of items in this store. It is a bit crowded, however you have a lot of inventory to choose from. I was on a mouse cancelation mission. I found lots of items to help meet my goals, but I already have an item to return. In my haste to waste....a tiny rodent, I bought traps that are too complicated. We had issues previously where it wasn't easy to reset the trap. I don't want to deal with that again. The wooden traps don't always work. There are cute gadgets all around the register area. If you need to buy a gift for someone that isn't "hardware" related, you could also find it here. I appreciate the Ace Hardware stores in DC & Takoma Park (different owner than this location) because the employees are attentive. When I walk in at the DC (or Takoma Park) location, I am quickly greeted and escorted to whatever item I am looking for. At this location, the employee quickly pointed to the area and that was it. Even during the great toilet paper shortage they always had some. Even now they have all the pandemic essentials on hand such as masks (KN95, surgical, cotton), gloves, hand sanitizers, cleaning wipes etc.. Need something else for your home for some projects or to fix things, plants or maybe some party supplies? Then ACE is there for you. They even have the helium tank to fill up the balloons. I'm so glad they opened a hardware store in the Court House area near my home. The tool shops options in this area have previously been lacking. The closest home goods store is about 20 mins away in Seven Corner's. This, however, is a minute's stroll away from the Court House metro; and they have everything you need! From utility tools, wiring, pipes, shovels, rakes, a full selection of Benjamin Moore and other paints, gardening supplies, BBQ and cooking ware, nuts + bolts, fans and vacuums and even softer home goods like candles, random knick knacks, toys and more. I don't know how they stuff so many supplies and tools in such a compact space! It's impressive. I came here to get a duplicate key copy for my apartment, which uses an older style of the Y-key. I initially tried to go to Home Depot to get a copy (and then to bunch of other stores), and not one of them sold this style of key! What are the chances? Not even the usually dependable Home Depot. I frequented this place in the summer/early Fall after finding dismal house plant selections at Home Depot and Lowes. I was shocked at the number and quality of plants stocked at this Ace location, and it has since become my go-to. Service is always friendly, and employees are knowledgeable and happy to help. On a separate note, we went through multiple paint samples at Home Depot for our bathroom reno but ultimately ended up with a Benjamin Moore color from Ace - the quality is high, and we received excellent recommendations and service from the employee manning the paint counter.
