If I could give 10 stars I would! Cody was my Tech, SUCH a polite young man! They were here before the scheduled time, the tech was clean and professional. He got right to work, explained what he was doing and why. They did not try to up sell me. I needed one replacement part, they was all they replaced, Cody spent quite a while cleaning out the coils on my compressor. My house is all ready getting cooler and he has only been gone like 20 minutes! I totally would and will recomend this company! read more

I am very happy with the hvac mini split I just got from McClelland. Not only was the price competitive, the workmanship was excellent. They got it installed in about a day and a half, and all the workers were very professional and nice. In particular, George was very easy to deal with - very accessible, always responded promptly to questions, and explaining everything very clearly, including pictures of what it would look like. I'm glad to say it does look great. The inside units blend in well, and the outside parts look good. They custom make metal covers for the condensation pipes outside, and they look really sharp and clean. Most importantly however, it works great - very quiet and efficient. I don't hesitate to highly recommend them! read more

We were overdue for a complete hvac replacement, and received bids from 4 different companies. The quotes from the different companies were similar; however, McClelland went above and beyond. George Retzloff was our estimator, and he redesigned our system for maximum efficiency. The installation was completed by highly competent technicians who were diligent in keeping the house clean while performing excellent work. After installation, the equipment wasn't working properly, and McClelland quickly ordered the parts and made the repairs. The system works so well, that you don't even know if it's heating or cooling. Highly recommended McClelland. read more

My A/C stopped working on a Friday night before the hottest week anticipated so far this summer. I called McClelland and left a message late that evening. When I hadn't heard back by early morning, I called again and was told a repairman would be to my house by 11-11:30 AM that day-Saturday! He was here at 11 and after a half hour diagnosed the problem. A new thermostat and my house was cool again. I'm so grateful that my maintenance agreement with them has paid off! read more

McClelland Air installed the hvac in my new home and did a great job. They always showed up on time and their technician Chad Rothe was very helpful in helping us learn about our system. Their telephone service was excellent as well. Great company to work with. Five stars. read more

If there was less than 1 star I would select that as an option. Buyer beware. I was a loyal customer for eight years and even signed up for their "club". What a joke. After 3 years of not receiving any of the "club" benefits I called due to a strange smell coming out of my air conditioner. Apparently they had signed me up for only one of my two units (not a big house, just an old one) and they would not honor the "club benefit". When asked why this was the case, how this occurred, and attempted to discuss possible solutions, the office manager's only solution was that I find another service provider. Complete lack of problem solving, creativity and support for loyal customers. Thanks for the advice, McClelland, I'll spend my money elsewhere. read more

I scheduled seasonal maintenance on my air conditioning and was pleased with the service. However, I would've appreciated they wear booties and a mask indoors. I have children that cannot be vaccinated from COVID and was expecting at least some booties to jot track in my carpeted hallway. read more

Rude and Unprofessional. In 2020 they were set up for a service for a tenant with no AC in the middle of summer. They call hours before the appointment that we waited almost a week for, telling us they are not taking new customers and will not come out. I stated that we have waited and its is unprofessional and they need to honor the appointment, they got rude with me on the call and refused. This forced the tenants to not have AC for another 4 days. Just this month May 2022 my service manager called and set up another non op AC, they called us back 3 hours before the appointment and said they will not work because they had a rude call. Yet again leaving my tenants who have not AC in summer wait longer with no air due to not being professionals. Do not waste your time. read more

Made an appointment that was canceled two hours later. The excuse for the cancellation was that they "have been burned by big companies in the past." If that's the case, what is stopping you from taking jobs from everyday homeowners? I wish I could give them 0 stars read more

Unfortunately we had a tragic car accident on our street Sunday night. As a result of the accident, my elderly neighbors house was struck by one of the cars. The force caused their heater to stop working. By the time the police had cleared the scene, it was midnight. My neighbors were badly shaken. They were traumatized after witnessing this horrific accident. McClelland send a team member to their house at 12 am to fix the problem and be sure they had heat. When my neighbor (in her 90's) asked what they owe, McClelland said they had dealt with enough and the service was free. They followed up with a check in the next morning to be sure it was still functioning. After hearing this and seeing how grateful my neighbor was, I will never go anywhere else. Thank you McClelland. read more

We just had our entire climate control system replaced by McClelland heating and air. It was a great experience from beginning to end. The technicians that came to our home were so polite and easy to be around. They were efficient, did a great job, and made sure we were comfortable with the whole process. I was so impressed because they even took the time to make sure our dogs were comfortable with them! One of them literally sat cross legged and waited for our nervous Chihuahua to approach him and get comfortable. And then, they were extremely careful not to let either of our dogs get out as they were coming in and out of the house. They did a great job in every aspect and we are very happy with the outcome! read more

Called June 2019 for service to mini-split and HVAC. Received a call from the receptionist saying "We are not accepting new clients." Maybe they could post this information on their website and save us time. read more

I'm sad to leave this review because I used this company for many years has a property manager and had a phenomenal experience. Today, not so much. We work in an office that is a converted Victorian home... When our tech showed up, he refused to program our heating and air conditioning schedule because "it causes problems for people in the office because everyone wants a different temperature." I reassured him that wouldn't be an issue, and he still refused. Then, because something had to be moved out of the way to reach the furnace, he told me he was "not a mover, and that we were unprepared, and he couldn't wait around for us to get our act together." Very unfortunate considering he could have started the service elsewhere, and the closet would've been cleared for him in a matter of minutes now... we have to wait two months before the next appointment is available. Really disappointing customer service. Look elsewhere if you're not a big apartment complex who pays a lot of money to have air conditioners replaced and repaired frequently - small businesses are clearly not a priority to McClellands. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MCCLELLAND. They LIED to me, who's to say they will not lie to you? Story Time: Called to get a part for an AC unit. (Capacitor) I was quoted a price of $78.00, which I purchased. Unfortunately the part was not in stock, but it was available at the local parts house. McClelland arranged for me to pickup the part at the distributor. I then ASKED if I could buy direct and they said NO. I picked up the part and asked if I could buy a spare, expecting no. They gladly sold me a spare, for $19.75. $58 for looking up a part and calling the parts distributor, poor form. An more importantly they LIED when I asked a direct question! read more

A/C unit needed a service call to check the overflow. Charlie in the office was so pleasant and helpful in getting us a service technician around our vacation home schedule at Lake Almanor. Chris arrived on time on our scheduled date. He was very professional and knowledgeable. It seems that every interaction we've had with this company and its employees to date has been very positive. So refreshing these days!! Definitely recommend them! read more

McClelland Air Conditioning - Loving our new system in Lake Almanor! - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Chico, California

Way overpriced, have used seasonal for a few years but the price has doubled. Have 3 mini splits and all they did was wash the filters and measure the temperatures; we only use 1 most all year so the other were already clean and they charged us $300, Crazy I can wash off 3 filters. What a rip off!! read more

We have attempted to work with several air conditioning companies in this area. We have always had great results at a fair price from McClelland. We recently consulted with them on how to make our home more comfortable and they made a recommendation, well justified, to increase the size of our AC system and replace and reconfigure our old ducting. This is a sizable investment, but now that all the work is complete, we could not be more pleased. The McClellan team "under promises and over delivers" as my wife likes to say. They were prompt, professional, clean, friendly and they finished a full day early. Bottom line is they, as far as we are concerned, they are the only air conditioning company in town we would recommend. read more

I had a guy come out to give me a quote on a new unit that my landlord agreed to pay and have installed in my business for me. When he arrived he was friendly, went on the roof to check out the old unit and see how many tons I would need. He came to me extremely worried with pictures of another tenant in my buildings air conditioning unit and said there was unfinished business up there (another company was doing work on another unit) and he would have to email me a quote. I got an email 4 days later saying they were "to busy" and going to have to pass. Really?!! Just because someone else was doing work on another tenants unit they could help me out. Well your loss of $$. Good luck doing business like that. read more

When our ancient A/C unit finally bit the dust, we knew that we were going to have to take our time looking into various options before making such a big financial investment. We had received an estimate from one other company that didn't seem to listen to what our needs were, and they tried to convince us we needed an entire overhaul (which would cost about $11,000), including a new furnace even though the one we already have is practically brand new! So I asked some good friends that have lived in Chico a lot longer than I have for their recommendation, and without hesitation they went out of their way to get me in touch with Lance at McClelland! We were initially going to get quotes from at least 3 different companies, but after the first home visit by Lance and Mike, we knew who we were going to choose. They listened to our needs and concerns, and were very straight-forward and honest about everything. I felt so comfortable with them here, they were very easy to talk to and deal with. They were NEVER salesy, which is huge to me because I hate those sales "tactics" some companies use. Another big advantage with McClelland was that they were able to replace our A/C within a week, whereas the other company said it would be at least 2 weeks. The men who came out to do the labor were nice, respectful, and quick. Tried their best to clean up the dust after themselves, and were really sweet to our puppy also :) An added bonus is that they include one free year of their cleaning/maintenance program, and they brought over a few air filters to keep us running smooth for several months! We are so excited to have a new A/C that works WAY better than our other one did, and are so so glad to have been referred to this honest company. Now we know who to send our friends to if they have any problems with their heat or A/C! read more

The review from Abby is not valid. For one thing her landlord already let out the work to someone else. Abby doesn't own the property and is upset that she wasn't treated like she was. I've been dealing with McClellend for 16 years. They installed the units in my then new home. All of my neighbors who bought different brands (from Trane) have repair guys here constantly. Mine just works. I even called the owner and asked if I should upgrade to improved efficiency. He told me that was an inefficient use of my money. Now that was an opportunity for him to make a buck on me and he chose to give me good advice. We are very pleased with this company and all of the personnel we have met. read more

McClellan provided premium service. They arrived when scheduled. They cleaned up wherever they did work. I had to have a new outtake installed with wall cutting inside the house. When they left it was cleaner than when they arrived. Their pricing was fair without any surprises at the end. Casey, the salesman, was informative and took great pride in seeing that the job was well done. Kudos to McClellan. read more

I have been using McClelland Air Conditioning since 1992, and have found them to be prompt and trustworthy. They have kept my HVAC unit running for over 20 years. I recommend their Service Savings Plan to keep your unit running as long as possible. When my old unit finally gives up the ghost, I'll definitely have a new one installed by McClelland Air. I like the Trane brand they specialize in, and I trust them. read more

I contacted McClelland under their service agreement when one of my heater units went out at my home during the holiday. The system is 23-years old and their service tech went up into my attic and discovered the problem with a broken gas manifold and it wasn't safe. I then set up a meeting with Scott Eitel and requested a bid to replace the entire heating and air systems due to it's age. He came out, completed an analysis and prepared a fair proposal. Their installation team of George, Nick and Eddie completed the installation of both systems in a very timely and professional manner. They were on time everyday, explained what they would be doing and cleaned up before they left each day. After they completed the work a third party inspector from Sacramento came up to test the tightness of the duct system and it passed with flying colors. Scott then came back, walked through the entire system with me and let me know the County would be back to complete the permit inspection. I would highly recommend this company for their semi-annual service program and now for their installation of a new system. read more

The staff at McClelland helped us greatly by diagnosing our leaking furnace. The professionalism and attention to detail when installing the new unit as well as a new A/C unit was unprecedented! The technicians let me know what they were going to do and if it was acceptable to alter things to make it happen. Installation went very well and was quick. The new units with the smart thermostat have made our house much manageable and comfortable with cool air! The administrative staff and manager were very responsive and extremely helpful. I highly recommend McClelland for any needs thank you guys so much! read more

Our dog crimped the line to our AC Unit so it wasn't working. We called McClelland to come and evaluate the problem since they had installed the original unit. They charged $75 to come to the house for about 10 minutes. Their service guy seemed disinterested and curt and more focused on the money. Later they called back and said it would be about $1500 to fix the problem without even giving an itemized bid on the project. We called another AC company for a second opinion and they came and evaluated the problem and provided an immediate fix for $75. McClelland provides shotty evaluations with little or no documentation about service problems and heresay charges. Will never recommend their service or company to anyone. read more

I started with McClelland around 2002, when I decided to convert a somewhat primitive mountain cabin in Cohasset to a liveable space with heating and air conditioning. After scouting around a bit, I settled on the on-time and personable folks at McClelland and wisely--I have moved four or five times since that time, and each time have been provided with excellent technicians, mainly the honest, direct and careful skills of technician Brian, who always shows up in the time slot allotted (usually the office calls to let you know an approximate--within one or two hours--arrival) and works his magic--twice a year. Brian has pointed out the peculiarities of some systems, and usually it's just some needed maintenance that has been ignored for years by previous owners. And there are two gems in the office, as well--Kelsey and Charlie, who are unfailingly cheerful, good-humored, and put up with whatever grumbling this customer might have. After homes in Cohasset, Chico, Paradise and Corning, I now live in Red Bluff--and again count on the expertise of McClelland! You may not get the cheapest price, but you can count on having your work and annual inspections done correctly at a reasonable fee--any wise soul knows that cheaper is not necessarily better. read more
