AC was down and one of the big companies canceled my appointment a few hours before, leaving me with the prospect of a very hot night without AC. Tried around to multiple local companies and at 4:45 PM, got a call back from the owner of the company, Steve. Not only was he willing to come out that night, but he promptly showed up and quickly troubleshot the problem. He even returned the following morning to make sure everything was running correctly. Air Rite is the best ac company to call .We are 2 senior citizens one disabled our air went out on thurs the 12th at 3:30 pm. They were all booked up but were able to send a repairman that day. It ended up being the blower motor. The next day they had a blower motor to in stall. They actually offered to put a used one in to get us by until tomorrow. We chose not to make the repairman do this since it was so hot. They came back the very next day and put the new blower motor in. If I wasn't renting, I wouldn't be using this company. After waiting six hours (suppose to be here between 9-11am) it's nearing 4pm when they finally get here. I played phone tag with the store for over an hour trying to figure out if they were even going to show up. I complained to our property manager, and that's when the store finally called back.The customer service over the phone was unfriendly and short. The lady wouldn't give me a frame of time on when they would be there (This was already way after the fact that they were suppose to be there.) She had no whereabouts, no guesses. Nothing. The extra star is for the installment techs. They are both great workers and I feel bad that they work for such a scatterbrained uncommunicative company. read more

I first used this company last year when my heater wouldn't click on. The owner, personally came out to fix our heater the same day. He was professional, proficient and very kind. With a minimal/appropriate cost when the job was completed. My first experience would more than qualify to be 5 STARS!! However, this year when my heater needed service, we called to make an appointment and made it for the following day between 9am and 11am. I took the next morning off of work and waited.....and waited.....finally at 11:30, I called to make sure I was still on there schedule. I was told (with no apologize) they just left and were now on there way over. After they arrived and 30 mins later, the two workers knocked on my door to inform me of the problem. It needed a new part in the amount of $450.00!!! Ouch!!! I was told they didn't have the part in stock, but could come back tomorrow morning between 9-11 to install it. Again, I took the next morning off, and waited..and waited....and yep...more waiting!!! At noon, I called. I was told they had a busy morning and someone would be to my house shortly. (still no apology for lateness) I had to call into work, rescheduling my clients for the rest of the day. No one arrived to my house until 3:55pm!!!! No one called to let me know that they would be that late! What a waste of a day. I understand being busy, I can even understand cost, shipping, parts and labor. I don't understand the lack of customer service. A phone call would have been nice. 3 STARS are for the technical employees for getting the part installed in the rain in 15mins. read more

Steve at Air Rite has done several projects for me over the last few years in Chico. They installed a central HVAC system in a rental house that I had, and that worked out really well and was also the best price I found. Then, they installed a mini split heat pump system for me in a little cottage I owned, and that also ended up working really nicely. They suggested the mini split system because the price was very reasonable for what you get, and the tenants were very happy with the system. Now, in November 2017, they did a new HVAC system for my whole house. The old system was installed rather poorly, and the attic space is really tight. A couple of guys I called would not even give me a bid. Steve at Air Rite ended up coming up with a great idea and now we have a 2 stage heat pump and retained the gas furnace which had been recently replaced by the previous owners. It was already high efficiency, so it didn't make sense to throw it away, and Steve figured out a good way to connect it up to a new heat pump system, so now we have a super efficient heating and cooling system. And they also had the best price for the quality of the system being offered. To top it off, the crew from Air Rite are really great guys and because I am a Mechanical Engineer, I keep a close eye on how they do everything.... and they did an excellent job on the installation... really caring about getting the details right. That is so important because if you read online about reliability of HVAC equipment, you will see that most of the time problems are not really due to the equipment, but are actually due to improper installation details. They pointed out to me both up in the attic and outside at the condenser, all of the details that were done wrong, and some of the stuff up in the attic was just inexcusable. For instance, we had several of the flex ducts where the previous installer had them turning a sharp bend which just kinks the ducting and really restricts the airflow. Air Rite put metal 90 fittings in those spots so that full air flow is maintained, and now my house is much more comfortable and energy efficient. I highly recommend Air Rite! Sometimes they might be really busy, but I was willing to wait to get into their schedule, and I am glad I am did. They are not going to rip you off like some in the industry will. read more

The first day AirRite came to look at my Central Heating & AC unit the men were not friendly but not rude and they got my unit running in 15min total and were gone. Less than a week later the AC started making a loud noise and blew hot air before stopping again. It was late afternoon on a Sunday (around 7) when I called so it was a surprise when I got a responds. A very friendly man named Steve showed up right away and diagnosed the issue. Because of the hour, parts were unable to be acquired until the next day. So, once a previously scheduled job was complete on the following morning, Steve and another tech arrived. They worked quickly and were super courteous. If I was just going off of my first encounter, I'd give them 2 stars. If I was just going off of my second encounter, I'd say 5 stars all the way but because I'm combining both, we'll go with 4 stars. read more
