I have used Barnhart Heating and air for years, starting well over 20 years ago when I couldn't find a HVAC business that would service evaporative coolers. Since that time I've had heating and air conditioning units installed. My daughter has used Barnhart for her home also. It's a family business. Prompt and quality service. Highly recommend. read more

Amazing and fast service, at a fair price. I was referred to them, and I will definitely be using them for all my future HVAC needs!

Very nice family owned business very quick service and they even answer after hours!! Highly recommend!!

Mike and his son Michael were able to make it out to my house the following day during the latest 110+ degree heatwave to jumpstart my compressor that went out. The compressor was pulling way too many amps and couldn't be jumpstarted or repaired. I had already replaced the capacitor and tried turning off the system check if refrigerant had clogged the suction line, but to no avail. Mike offered us a reasonable price to come out the following day on a Saturday to replace the condenser! This was much appreciated as I had a newborn at home and pets that were struggling with the heat inside as it rose to 96 by the end of the day. My unit was due for replacement and had a lot of erosion on the coils. Mike and his son were very friendly and had our AC up and running within a few hours the following morning. He even cleaned the evaporator coils inside the house which were completely covered in hair. Mike's wife Lela was very knowledgeable and helpful over the phone. I would recommend this family owned and operated local company to anyone who needs quality heating and air work done in a timely manner. read more

I can't say enough great things about Mike and Leela (and Mike's assistant, who I unfortunately didn't get the name of). My AC issue was incorrectly diagnosed by a company my home warranty sent. That company said I had to replace the condenser unit because the part i needed wasn't made any longer. Along with that came a million fees for additional things they said were required. It just didn't feel right.. they kept trying to upsell everything. I decided to call in a local company for another opinion. I'm so glad I did. I called Barnhart's after hours, intending to leave a message. I ended up talking to Leela, who was so nice. Mike came out as soon as he was able, and the fan is actually fine, so I didn't need a condenser unit. I did have a major problem, but with the evap coil - not the condenser. It took a couple of weeks to get the part and get it fixed - but I am so glad I went with Barnharts. I appreciate all of their help, and they're who I'll call first if I have any issues in the future. read more

Came out the same day! Fast & friendly! Fantastic! Thank you! Got my AC running with minimal costs!

We had a fantastic experience working with Mike, Lela, and their son. After a stressful situation with a previous contractor, they truly went above and beyond to help us get our new HVAC system installed properly. They were always punctual, communicative, and transparent throughout the entire process. Their pricing was very reasonable, and they showed genuine care in resolving complications left behind by the last contractor. It's rare to find people who are not only skilled but also kind and trustworthy--good people who really care about their work and their clients. Highly recommend them! read more

Emergency weekend service when A/C went down. I called Friday night, left a message and he was here at 0900 the next morning. He replaced two defective capacitors and hosed out the unit. I was up and running in 45 minutes. I considered his charge to be more than fair for parts, labor and service. read more

Barnhart Heating & Air installed a rooftop HVAC unit for us the summer of 2022. They have always been easy to reach and to work with. Mike does not try to upsell a million different add on services like some other companies. He is very straightforward and just services or fixes what is needed. I've never felt like they were trying to take advantage of the customer. They have always bent over backwards to make things run right. read more

Awesome family HVAC business. Was time to replace our aging HVAC system and we picked Mike's company do do the job. I'm so impressed with the response time of this HVAC business. In the midst of a heat wave, our AC stopped working. I called Barnhart and they made an appointment for the next day whereas another HVAC business didn't even return my call! read more

Our AC stopped work on the first 100 deg day of the year! Mike and Michael Barnhart came a few few hours after I first called, found a burned out relay and replaced it. We're back in a cool house now, thank to their quick response! read more

After calling about 10 air conditioning companies in Chico when my air conditioner suddenly stopped working, Mike was the only one who was able to come out same day. Every other company could not get anyone out for 6 or more days which was not an option when it's over 100 degrees outside. He came same day and was able to patch my system and getting it up and running in under an hour! So thankful for him and having a cool place to sleep tonight! read more

My heating unit quit producing any heat this morning. I had been given favorable comments about Barnhart, and since he was close by my house I called to make an appointment, expecting it to be the usual several days. Was told that he would be there in a few hours. In less than a few hours, he and his son was there, corrected what was wrong (something very minimal) in a few minutes. I asked what the cost was, and he told me that he didn't feel right charging me anything for something so simple to fix. That is the trait of an honest and good man. You can bet I will pass the word about him, and for sure call him whenever something goes wrong with my system. But next time I will insist on paying him because I wouldn't feel right not paying for this man's service; he has already earned it in my book. read more

Very nice family owned business. Wife answers phones and his kid helps out on service calls. They were able to fix my AC a lot sooner than the other companies and it didn't take them long to replace the capacitor. I would recommend to others. read more

Great business! We started using Barnhart on a hot summer day when our air conditioner went out. The other companies in town told us they wouldn't be able to come out for at least a week. Mr. Barnhart arrived at our house 20 minutes after we called him. Our unit was fixed immediately. We've called him several times since then to fix both heating and air conditioning units on houses we own. read more

Mike is the BEST! In the midst of the Camp Fire, I needed help getting my Hvac filters changed, and more than that, I wanted to learn how to change them myself. Because all the filters had been saved for fire victims, I had to get one on my own. He came to my house to see the hvac and tell me what size to get. Today he came back to show me how to put it in. I SO appreciate his support of my independence. In addition, he would not let me pay him. He just thanked me for the volunteer work that I did. What a guy!! read more

We just had a new furnace and ac unit replaced. We received 3 other estimates and then decided to contact Barnhart as well. I was impressed with Michael. He pointed out a lot of other things that had to be updated that none of the other companies mentioned. These were all items that needed to be done for safety reasons or to bring up to building codes. So when we got the estimate from him it included all of this and he said he would never ask for more money after we accept the offer. I am afraid that the other guys would have asked for more money after their estimates to bring things up to code. Mike came in quite a bit lower on his estimate and included EVERYTHING that needed to be done. It took a week for the installation. They did a wonderful job. Cleaned up daily before leaving. Everything passed inspection with flying colors the first time. He has 35+ years experience and extremely knowledgeable. I am very impressed with him. We highly recommend him. read more

Great job Mike!! I am new to the area, just bought an old house, starting to fix it up. I booked Mike based on previous Yelp reviews plus his personal attention to every detail during the bid. He kept every promise and more -- even installing smoke detectors in every room and not mentioning it! He just discretely left an empty smoke detector box behind. He has my Hvac business from here on out. read more

I needed a new furnace and ac unit this spring. Mike came and said he would send me a bid, but never did. So, I contracted with another company that totally botched the furnace installation, went out of business and left town. (FYI: Robert Gorman, Alien Air.) I called Barnhart to fix the installation, which cost 400$. But, it still did not work properly. He came out twice more to check out the system and make adjustments and left saying it was fixed. It wasn't and I let him know that it wasn't. That was five days ago and he still has not contacted me. Mind you, this was not his install. He tried to clean up someone else's mess but does not appear to be able to do so. Twice he has failed to get back to me, I am out 400$ and my furnace still does not work. I am very disappointed in Mike's reliability and ability to correctly diagnose and fix my problem. I will not and cannot recommend doing business with Barnhart heating and air. read more

I was so impressed with both Michael and Leela's (sp?) service. I had already called about 5 other companies this morning to get estimates and find out when they could service my air. Everyone else was booked out about 5 days or more. I was referred to Michael Barnhart and was told he is extremely good and honest. As soon as I called, I was greeted on the phone by a very nice woman (the owners wife) she said Michael could come to my house today but she needed to call him first. She didn't get a hold of him right away, but she called me right back and I thought that was awesome service to get right back to me. Literally a couple hours later, I pulled into my house and Michael was here! He took less than a half hour to fix everything. He was fast, trustworthy, and helpful. I'm sitting in nice air conditioning now and just want to say I highly recommend this husband and wife business. They were great and have earned my business! Thank you Barnhart's Heating and Air! read more
