My HVAC stopped working... completely a month ago. It was 100 degrees that week and I was worried how long before I'd have A/C. I called a few places and the timeline for a visit was days to weeks. Royal Aire got back to me with a next-day visit! Eduardo came to the door earlier than expected with a big smile, friendly demeanor and helpful advice. He got the power issue resolved quickly, cleaned and reviewed my old system for a reasonable charge. He also offered some 'best practice' info to me to keep things running well. He was wonderful and upbeat and a great person to represent the company. He also informed me that RA was started and owned locally, which I like. We signed up for a twice a year maintenance plan 4-5 years in a row (at our Forest Ranch home) with Royal Aire. Altho their service men were pleasant and prompt, we repeatedly experienced an issue with the service they provided almost each time they showed up. 1) On most service visits, they would arrive with one filter when we were listed as requiring two filters thus often had to return a second time with a second filter. 2) On one occasion, the repairman serviced our new HVAC on a cold winter day. That evening, our HVAC would not come on and they could not schedule a return service for over 24 hours, leaving us angry and cold that night. Turned out they forgot to reconnect what ever made the unit work. 3) On multiple visits, when servicing our wifi controlled thermostat, they were unable to make any checks and adjustments until searching online for instructions on the unit. We moved to a new location in Dec 2022 transferring our service plan to the new address. We ended up paying for four months of unused service at old address even tho we initiated service at new address. Unhappy about that. The service man who came out to new address was very pleasant. However, again we experienced issues. He forgot to replace a rodent screen which my husband luckily noticed later that day. Serviceman also forgot to turn our water to the clothes washer back on for us. Given the above, we are looking for and will change to a more reliable service company for our new home in Durham. read more

We just had Donnie Cope out here from Royal Aire to do a complete cleaning and maintenance of our heating and air conditioning systems at Skyway Tool Center in Chico. We have four heating and air conditioning units, so it took him some time, but he got them working like new. What a relief! We want to keep our heating and air conditioning systems running smoothly, because Chico gets very hot during the summer and we don't want to have one of our heating and air conditioning units fail. We signed up for a maintenance program with Royal Aire and they immediately came out, inspected everything, got one of our air conditioning systems running on the spot, and made an appointment to come out today for a more in depth cleaning, inspection and maintenance. Donnie was very friendly, capable and did a great job. Now all four of our heating and air conditioning units are working perfectly and it is very cool and comfortable throughout the building. With the maintenance program we signed up for, they will come out several times per year and we get charged a very small fee once a month. Additional service calls are minimal. They even gave us a veteran's discount because one of the owners, Doug, is a Vietnam vet. What more could you want? We highly recommend Royal Aire for heating, air and solar work. We also have a solar system, so it will be nice to know we can quickly get help with that, as well. If you're looking for a great, locally owned heating and air conditioning company, call them. The techs that visited my house, 3 of them, were all very kind and professional. I was able to get Neil out on a Sat. on emergency, when in 106 temp. my upstairs system decided to go out a few days prior! Considering the season, I felt that was a reasonable response time! Others were at least a week. Neil was incredibly courteous, knowledgeable, and quick to find the problem. Also showing me and explaining. Based on his great, friendly attitude alone overall, I signed on for the twice yearly maint. package which will save me money and keep my equipment better taken care of! Unfortunately, I had him scheduled twice to complete the maint. and twice he had to cancel because of sickness. Geronimo was just as kind and courteous tho! I did have communication issues with the office, however the young lady was in training. No big deal. It happens. We're human and need to be patient and kind to one another!! There's a real lack of those attributes today, however, that's what I found at Royal Aire with every person I dealt with! So, Neil, Geronimo, Tom, and manager Richie made the experience much better than it could have been with a couple of other issues I had. Royal Aire earns 5 stars even though it took a little longer than expected to finish installing my furnace. My ole brick house is almost 100 and had old seriously inefficient wall heater. Mike was an excellent sales rep, no hard sell, answered all my questions. This furnace $ was big deal to this ole lady and I felt my investment/liability was well respected. I got several estimates and Royal WAS a bit higher but matched bids. Some of the low bids said I didn't even need a permit but is that thinking of MY liability/house ins? Tanner worked SO hard for 3 days! This was no clean new build easy job. Ducts, furnace, thermostat! And I feel confident that if any issues arise, Royal will address them. A/C needed maintenance. Royal Aire came out on Monday, "fixed it" charged me $250. Here we are on Friday...guess what? My A/C is now a heater! It's blowing out hot air. Called Royal...they can't get anyone out here to fix their mistake until Sunday. Thanks for nothing Royal. My wife, who's 8 months pregnant is now sitting in the sauna of a house that you left us with. I should have never called them. At least before, my A/C was working. Had an appt scheduled. They call the day of At the appt time to say they are not coming. Mind you I was out of town and hired a house sitter to take care of this. They never call to reschedule as they said they would. I call them months later on Friday morning they admit they dropped the ball schedule me for the following Monday. Move the doctors appt to first thing that morning so I'm home. Supposed to be here between 12-2. Call Friday afternoon leave a message( I have no service out of town) moving to 11-1. Hurry home from doctor. Get a call at 12:30 from potential spam so I don't answer. Call them at 2:30. The technician is running late may be here as late as 4:00..what the.. really! Dependability..not.. last year when they can they turned the gas off to the heater and forgot to turn it back on.really!! Loved dragging an 8 foot ladder around the house so I could take care of their mistake..what a joke..glad I had them install 2 new units on my home and bought the extended service/warranty so I'm stuck!! read more

Used Royal Aire in the past and was a good experience. Called them first last week because one of our A/C system was blowing warm. As a mechanic I figured it was empty since I could hear the compressor come on. Edwardo from Royal Aire came and looked at our system and verified it was empty and had a leak. He quoted me 5k to re charge and look for the leak. He showed me pictures of the coils and compressor. At 5k of course I was going to get a second opinion. Called alternative heating and a/c and they verified it was empty. Not only did they verify, but they also showed me where it was leaking from. Two lines rubbed together by the compressor and left an oily mess, oil even got on the compressor. They gave a quote to fix, recharge and clean the coils that same visit and was much lower than 5k. I had it done and a/c works great! Edwardo is either not a good technician that he didn't see an obvious leak or he knew where the leak was but wanted to sell me more diagnostics, 5k worth. It's one of the two. All he did was put his gauges on and verified it was empty, which takes a few minutes , and charged me $94. Very poor effort on his part and I was disturbed he didn't look for the leak as part of the diagnosis. That's why I called royal aire, to find the leak. I figured it was empty. His practice alone made me lose confidence and trust in royal aire. Never will I call them again. Alternative offered much better and reasonably priced service, I highly recommend them. read more

I called on a Sunday requesting service of a Solar/Gas 70 gallon water heater for my four-plex. On Monday afternoon TIM calls me saying I needed a new pilot light assembly but remained doubtful that he could find the part. It's only 6 or 7 years old. I don't understand why he couldn't find a part for it. He said he would call me the next day and let me know. The next day came and I never heard from Mr. Tim. I called the office at 4:30 pm and Terry didn't even know what I was talking about it. Interesting, because they had already charged my credit card for the diagnostic service. I had 4 families without hot water! This morning I called Earl's plumbing to get the job done!! You are not a priority at Royal Heat & Air! UPDATE!
