McCarran auto body is the absolute biggest disappointment I've encountered in my 20 years of car ownership so far! The local Tesla dealership said this place is the shop to go to... is it? Read on... I dropped off my car for repair as scheduled in early March. After a week of no updates on repair progress, I called for an update. Unbelievably, NO WORK HAD BEEN DONE AND PARTS HAD NOT BEEN ORDERED. At this point you could understand a 1-star review, right? I was deprived of my car for no reason at all and was shown no consideration at this point. But I'm a forgiving person. I was personally assured by Jerry that this was a one-in-a-thousand scheduling screw-up and that my parts would be ordered ASAP. Just wait for a call, he said, and we'll be sure to get you in right away. Fast forward 8 weeks. No word from McCarran. So I call. I was informed that my parts were *still* not ordered (despite a February check on hand from my insurance company!) and repair not scheduled for another 3 weeks! I said "it would have been nice to have been informed of such a delay." Well, the secretary took this as a personal insult and told me I was no longer welcome to get my car repaired with McCarran. Then the owner Jerry personally called me and said that he hates Tesla for sending them so much business because now they are booked solid for the next 8 months. Message received. Take out your anger at Tesla on everyday drivers like me. Okay. Never going to do business here again, and I wish I could leave a 1/2 star rating. read more

Leaving this review 3 years after having McCarran auto fix our Tesla after a minor accident. At the time it took 6 months for them to replace the hood and bumper it was a horrible experience and it wasn't even right when we picked it up but we were out of time as we were moving out of state. Now years later we hired a professional to detail and perform paint correction. He informed us that the paint on both the bumper and hood is so thin it cannot even be buffed and the bumper is peeling, we will need to get them wrapped. read more

I had the best experience with everyone at McCcarran. The owner Jerry personally did the estimate on my car, invited me into his office while he priced it out, and offered me drinks and snacks. His wife Julie handled my billing, and the girl up front Cheryl was amazing at making sure everything was squared away with my rental car and insurance. My car was ready in the time promised, and returned to me looking brand new. For a small family owned company you can tell they take pride in their work. Jerry made sure to polish and shine my entire car before giving it back, made sure I knew how much gas was in the tank before I left, and left every thing inside exactly as I left it. They kept in touch with me during the repairs to give me updates and make sure I wasn't just left wondering on the progress. If I could give this place a zero or negative stars I would. Where do I begin... my Tesla was involved in a minor accident and it was an insurance job so my insurance took care of the cost. Well it sat at this shop for more then a month and nothing got done to it. Then after that month went by they gave me a call and said Tesla paid them a visit and said you have to many cars waiting to be fixed and if you don't remove some of the teslas then you'd lose your license. Keep in mind this is the only shop in Reno and Sparks that can fix your car (Tesla certified). So after they called me I had to go through the whole process and my vehicle ended up being repaired in Cali. This place was horrible from keeping me updated and informed. Sucks how they're the only shop here though. read more

They did a good job, the car looks good, but boy, oh boy, did it take a long time! Several months for a Tesla, and even longer than the long original estimate. We were never sure it was labor related, or parts related, or what but it far exceeded the insurance we had on the temporary rental car. read more

Stay Away. Especially with a Tesla. Poor paint match that required repaint. Delays after delays. Poor bumper alignment and gaps, parking sensors not properly mounted required them to redo. How Jerry, the owner, could present a car with such poor quality to a customer is beyond me. They required $500 beyond the insurance and deductible to return the car to me. I just wanted it back after all the hassle and time gone by. It took it with the poor bumper gaps, etc. just to be done with them. Good at repairing Teslas but their negotiating power is limited with insurance companies. I gotta blame both the insurance company and the auto shop for lack of customer service. My new Tesla model Y was delivered with a small dent in the lift gate and a deformed front bumper. Tesla referred us to McCarran Auto Body. The staff was professional, polite, and kept me informed. The office was clean, comfortable and accommodating. Jerry did his magic on our model Y and made the dent disappear and fixed the front bumper. There was also a scuff on one of the doors, he made that go away too. McCarran Auto Body is the go to place, especially if you have a Tesla. Thank you for making our car perfect. read more

Ripoff Alert! McCarran Auto Body is contracted with insurance companies to assess and repair damages, and at least in my case they do it in a very underhanded way. When I dropped off my vehicle I was told to sign a blank document by Julie Wientjes, for an appraisal of damages. The body shop then started working on repairs to my vehicle before notifying me, which they did by sending me a text message with pictures of my truck in pieces. I was going to take it to another body shop for the work, but couldn't because by the time I found out they had stripped the truck down and ordered parts already. They kept working on the truck after they received approval from the insurance company, even when I told them to stop! The owner Jerry Wientjes told me on the phone they couldn't match the paint on the truck, after I had been assured by his wife that they could when I dropped the vehicle off, and that he purposefully didn't add part of the damages on the inspection report because he said the insurance company wouldn't approve the repairs (that he was estimating), but refused to put anything in writing, even telling me to leave the premises when I showed up asking for documentation. When I went to pick up the truck I found out he had added work on top of what was approved by insurance, and held my truck hostage to the additional charges. McCarran Auto Body forged authorization documentation, showed underhanded dealings by avoiding authorization for work from the vehicle owner, misrepresented insurance estimate approval for approval to do work, and him and his wife both became aggressive when confronted with the issues. Jerry actually refused to release the truck even after payment was issued by insurance, and tried to force me to sign approval for the work retroactively! I had to take my truck with a spare key to get it out of their clutches. Since McCarran Auto Body lacks either the integrity, the skills or the tools to properly fix the vehicle to pre-loss condition, they are forcing me to research ways to redo the repairs and will likely cost thousands in additional work to fix shoddy job. If you have insurance tell you to go here, insist on taking it to a different shop. These folks will rip you off! Check with BBB and the DMV Consumer Enforcement Division regarding this issue, they are being investigated. read more

The insurance (of the person who was at fault in the auto wreck necessitating these repairs) required that this vehicle be appraised by their contractor, McCarran Autobody. Repairs were never authorized; McC suddenly had the truck in pieces and had initiated repair. Firstly, if it was a "bump", why did this shop estimate $4K in needed repairs? The vehicle was held by McC Autobody for weeks. Yes, a rental must be provided, but the only relevance rental has to McC Autobody is that McC Auto 1) was never authorized to repair the vehicle and 2) did shoddy work, necessitating longer time when a rental was needed and the vehicle hit was not drivable. Secondly, I daresay I have spent more years dedicated to Nevada's fire service than the young fireman at-fault for this wreck. Warning : Avoid This Business! read more

I have never had such amazing service from an auto body shop. Jerry and Julie are true professionals- kind, caring, and made sure my needs were met. My car was fixed and returned to me earlier than stated because I let them know there was a problem with the insurance covering my rental car. They came in on their day off! I am new to the area, so I got extremely lucky when I chose this shop out of the list my insurance company sent me. My experience with McCarten Auto Body is totally different then the other reviewers. I took my car to MAB at the request of the person who's employee accidentally hit my rear bumper. Their estimate was 10% less then the one I got from a body shop I was familiar with. The shop is clean. The waiting room is like my grandmothers living room, complete with couches, fireplace, coffee and candy. All the people who I met were professional and helpful. They made a reservation with the rental car company for me and called to have them pick me up. They even called to remind me of my appointment. The car was done when promised and the work made the damage disappear. The car was even washed when I returned to pick it up. I would recommend MAB to others, but I hope I don't need their services ever again. All in all, a good experience made from an aggravating event. read more

I was really disappointed when my almost new Telsa Model 3 Dual was rear-ended and had to go to the body shop. Touring the shop though with Jerry set me at ease and when it came out of the shop last week it looked and felt like new again. It's nice to see Tesla having high standards for the authorized body shops and McCarran did a really nice job so if your Tesla unfortunately gets him take comfort that McCarran will bring it back to life again. read more

I wanted to update my review to include Jerry's comment so that when he comes to his senses and realizes that calling his customers "bad customers" isn't a good idea, he can't remove it. First of all, I'm not sure where you went to school, but "Their" is the proper use of the word for "Not returning "There" calls. Second of all, yes I was having an issue with my voicemail system on my phone. They have been known to fail from time to time and I called Mr. Hayward the minute that I realized the issue. The reason why you and I had the disagreement in the parking lot is because the work that was done to my car has failed. 3 times. I am upset that I have paid for a service that has yet to be completed on my car. I have nothing to do with the fact that the texturizer or paint have failed on my car. I am not a car expert. I never claimed to be. I also never did any of the prep or work on my car so I'm still not sure how the failure is my fault. I asked nicely that the car be fixed and when you proceeded to call me a liar to my face and accused me of having work done on my car by someone else or whatever BS you were trying to sell me about the repairs on my car that have not stayed repaired, that is where the niceties stop. I felt backed into a corner by you and I felt harassed by your tone. The fact that you tried to charge me another $300.00 to fix your mistake, whether it be a product failure or human error is insulting. I think it's funny that you never thought to bring in the product manufacturers until I made a complaint to the BBB. The reps that I have spoke with have been very friendly and I'm sure that they will report the same to you about me. I am a nice person and I have no problem working with other people. Had you and I discussed the car situation and why the product keeps failing instead of you calling me a liar, we might be having a different conversation now. You think I'm hateful and mean, but I think that calling your customers, that have paid you for a service, liars is ridiculous. I work in the customer service industry and there are many business in town that I use on a regular basis and I know that they will attest to the fact that I am a "Good Customer". You have a habit of making good customers into bad customers by the way that you talk down to them. Your business would do better if you reconsider how you deal with your customers, good or bad. Took my mother's 2010 Toyota Prius in for some front bumper damage, prior to returning the vehicle because it was at it's lease end. The front desk lady was extremely professional and helpful. Jerry was able to provide me a rate to repair, better than 4-5 other autobody shops I recieved estimates from. His estimates were $150-$300 less than these other shops. The vehicle was completed when promised and their work was very good, including replacing part of the pinstriping. When I took the vehicle back to the Toyota dealer to turn it it, they inspected it and said "everything looks good." Bottom line: Very good work completed on this 2010 Toyota Prius, helpful front office, vehicle was completed when promised and by far the lowest price to repair and believe me, I shopped around for estimates. This is the first time I've taken a vehicle to this company. Overall they have been great. They fought with our insurance company to make sure all repairs were done correctly. The lobby is very nice and most of the staff were very friendly and professional. The reason I'm giving ithem only 3 stars was because after making a complaint about them putting my last name wrong on my paperwork, even though I put my correct last name on all the paperwork, the owner Jerry was very rude and refused to apologize to me and sent me back a rude email after I told him I didn't even get an apology for the mistake. If you take your vehicle here, you will get good, quality service but don't expect them to be so nice to you after you agree to the work. read more

Voted #1 in Reno I know why. best price we could find, customer service and great work. Daughter had a finder bender and MAB after getting two other quotes from other shops worked with her and got her car back on the road at the best cost. The person doing the repair stayed after shift to go over the repairs with her after she got off work. She was going to have to take a semester off of college to work to pay the repair until we went to MAB, their prices were the best and the car looks great.
