Choose 2: 1/2 sandwich, 1/2 spud
Alexus M.

Really great experience for my friend as it was his first time. I always like the spud and sandwiches and the soups. There wasn't a long wait for our orders. The only downside is the limited number of restrooms, he had to wait while but overall a great experience even for the whole family.

I don't know that I've ever had this place before but we went here on a whim after an evening of Trader Joe's grocery shopping. Note: this establishment was closing early at 7 PM instead of it normal 9 PM due to being shortstaffed. We walked in about 630 and they graciously still took our order and the two couples that followed in after us. I tried the veggie spud and it was pretty good. I didn't realize that the peppers on them included jalapeños so were some bites were a little bit spicy where I picked those off. My son had a cheese pizza which was fine and I think my husband enjoyed his club sandwich. I don't know that I would be chomping at the bit to return but it is a nice option to know about. When we entered they had just mopped the floors and everything looked quite clean inside. I would consider this casual dining option to be quite warm and welcoming.

Stopped by this restaurant after a long day and a quick shopping trip to Trader Joe's. It has been years since I visited this restaurant, which used to be in one of the malls here a while back. I always loved their sandwiches! Anyway, I wanted something quick and realized that I had been wanting to try McAlisters again for a while. I ordered the veggie spud and southwest chicken salad from the "Choose 2" menu. The salad was fine, but the baked potato was dry, and the outside was a bit burned. It almost seemed that the potato may have been sitting out all day. As such, not too impressed with the potato at all. I should have paid more attention to the entire order before I left the store; I would have returned it and chosen another side item. But again, long day and just wanted to get home... Still, because I used to love this restaurant, I will definitely give it another try. It helps that the cashier was super friendly! :o) There are so many delicious-looking items on the menu: salads, spuds, sandwiches, soups. I am hoping my next visit will be better! Stay tuned! :o)

A couple of weekends ago, I did a Pilates class. I hadn't exercised in some time and so I didn't want to ruin the workout. Enter McAlister's Deli. This chain has quite a bunch of healthy options, particularly when it comes to salads. I'm a big fan of their Savannah chopped salad. It consists of cucumbers, diced tomatoes, dried cranberries, Gorgonzola cheese, grilled chicken, honey-roasted peanuts, in a spring mix dressed with sherry vinaigrette on the side. In other words, it's a salad I find myself actually craving. Given that I have their app, as I used to order frequently back in the day when I lived in South Florida, I ordered ahead and went to pick it up. The actual location in Tallahassee is small compared to what I'm used to, but my salad was sheer perfection and hit the spot. Best of all, this salad is less than 500 calories and I didn't ruin my workout. How's that for a win?

This is there "tomato basil soup"

This is there "tomato basil soup"... why does it look like that and it didn't taste like it either

I have driven by this place hundreds of times leaving Trader Joe's, never paying attention. Today, however, I noticed people walking in and out and decided to give them a try. They're known for their sweet tea and I definitely enjoyed it. It was sweet, but not cloying, give you diabetes sweet. I still added lots of ice, but I was impressed as a sweet tea connoisseur. I also ordered the green goddess salad, which I think is a special. It has a ton of stuff on it; Gorgonzola cheese, avocado , bacon, and more! It came with green goddess dressing, one of my favorites. The salad was also good and quite filling. As a surprise, they were selling limited edition Creamalicious Sweet Tea ice cream, based on their tea. Creamalicious is a Black owned ice cream company that sells ice cream flavored with Southern favorites like pound cake, and ,obviously, sweet tea! I was very excited and bought a pint. I look forward to trying other items at Mcalister's. It's actually a 3 1/2 for me. ..

Some of the WORST food I've had from here. I've managed two different locations in Mississippi and this was just awful. Ordered a choose two with a pepper jack. Received chipotle ranch on it instead of honey mustard. Also got a kid turkey tostey on ciabatta and got 9grain bread instead. Meat is sliced wayyy too thick. Staff was nice though.

We love McAlister's for a perfect little Family lunch spot! On Saturday, they have kids meals for 99 cents - and it makes it the perfect weekend place for us. They have a wall outside where you can draw with chalk, and enjoy the outdoors as you eat your sandwiches. The food is DELICIOUS! We are always so impressed with how fresh the sandwiches are and how much comes on them. The kids love their meals so much and you can't beat that price. Even the normal kids menu price isn't bad at all! We definitely recommend McAlister's for lunch for families in Tallahassee. It's delicious!

Nacho chips were stale! Only one lady at front taking orders and delivering food. I would not recommend for travelers wanting a quick bite.

Christian showed us to the patio and provided great service throughout the meal. get the Chicha Morada. It was excellent lightly refreshing non alcoholic beverage that will remind you of a light wassail perfect for warmer weather. We started off with the calamari. My son got the Lomo Saltado. My wife ordered a pasta dish (I forgot to get the name of). I ordered Pescado A Lo Macho. All dishes were fantastic. Flavors were excellent. I added there house sauce to mine, because I like it spicy. I thought this dish was amazing. My wife's taste thought the pasta was a little too rich with cream, but I thought it was perfect. All of us loved the flavors of the Lomo Saltado. We finished the meal with the best Tres Leches I have ever had. It was a great atmosphere. Thank you Chef Martin for sharing your home with us. Thank you to proprietor Gary and staff for making us welcome. One complaint, you are not in Mobile, Alabama. Bring your flavors here for us, please.

An impromptu trip to Peru is absolutely within reach, and shockingly affordable!…read more We had a last minute opportunity to go out for dinner and decided to make a reservation for Cafe de Martin because they had availability for our semi "early bird" time slot. We chose to dine on their colorful outdoor terrace, and when I tell you that we were transported to another country.... I mean, it literally took us out of Tally and dropped us in a tropical paradise. As the sun went down, the lights began to glow. The ambiance was surreal. I repeatedly told my husband I felt thousands of miles away from home. Was it the cafe lights or the Sangria? I can't be sure. The live music began and it was a whole vibe. Heads turned, ears perked up, and an entire terrace just exhaled. The sultry atmosphere was only overshadowed by the savory food. Dear Lord we ate far too much. What is that saying? Ask forgiveness not permission. Sounds about right. We started with cocktails and Fried Yucca. The Jamaican Margarita was a perfect blend with a sweet sugared rim. The Sangria was a full party in the glass with fresh fruit. The Yucca portion was hefty, but we ate it ALL. In hindsight, we should have saved more room for our actual meal. We ordered Lomo Saltado Beef that was so tender and rich, and it was accompanied by another hefty portion of indulgent carbs. See? That's where moderation in our starter would have been wise. Ahh lessons learned. If we had saved half of the Yucca for leftovers it would have reheated in an air fryer beautifully. We also ordered the Escabeche which was a beautifully fried , snapper filet served with sweet potato and rice. The sauce was simple and elegant with that classic tart vinegar bite. We looked at the dessert menu. I repeat, looked. We simply had no more room. We'll be back soon and promise to make it to the dessert menu and coffee.

Island Fin Poke is the culinary equivalent of "I'll just grab something light" turning into "I…read moreregret absolutely nothing." Every time I'm in Tallahassee, this place is mandatory. Not optional. Mandatory. I don't even live nearby and somehow this restaurant still has a stronger hold on me than some family members. The ingredients are ridiculously fresh, the topping selection is next-level, and they've got options other poke spots don't even think about. But the real magic happens when you start building the bowl like a slightly unhinged food scientist. Wasabi peas? Elite move. Crunch, heat, excitement... maybe a minor sinus cleansing. Then hit it with the chili oil, which somehow creates this sweet-and-spicy combo that makes your taste buds stand up and slow clap. Toss in the dried seaweed with the seaweed salad and now we're dealing with textures like a Michelin chef who listens to EDM. And here's the veteran move: double the protein for six bucks. That's not an upsell, that's a public service announcement. The atmosphere is fun, the staff is always upbeat and helpful, and the whole place has that "you're about to have a good meal" energy the second you walk in. At this point, my Tallahassee trips are basically planned around Island Fin. Gas in the car? Check. Hotel booked? Check. Poke bowl the size of a toddler? Absolutely. If loving this place is wrong, I don't want to eat rice responsibly.

It is the reason I would consider returning but "$12-$15" for a salad where I stand in line, pay at the register, find a seat and eat from a plastic bowl with plastic utensils seems a little high for this old boy. My wife regularly pays $14 for her favorite Southern Spin Cobb Salad at Backwoods Crossing where we are waited on at table and eat with utensils and bowls that are reusable and go through the dishwasher rather than into the landfill. I have even rationalized a steak salad for myself a few times because the amount of steak was similar to what I would get with a steak and baked potato meal and the salad meant I was eating healthier. Those too were enjoyed at a restaurant where we were waited on and ate with utensils and bowls that go through the dishwasher and not the landfill. I think I paid $17 for those. Maybe somebody was having a bad day but "methinks thou doth protest too much."
