Crafty Crab - Headless Shrimp - Seafood Near Me - Tallahassee, Florida

Met some friends here for a last-minute meal. The restaurant is very spacious and there is a room that is large enough to host a party. Our waitress was attentive. We started out with various appetizers crab rangoon, wings, and calamari. I wasn't too crazy about the rangoon at all; was a bit rubbery; calamari a bit too salty for my taste. The wings were decent tasting though. Our table's entrees included fried shrimp baskets, fried catfish baskets, chicken tender baskets, shrimp boils, and king crab boils. Personally, I had the headless shrimp boil (buttery garlic flavor) and it was quite delicious. I asked that my side of broccoli be added to the boil, which was seasoned very well. Basically, either fried food or the seafood boils - no variation from that. I had so much fun with the group that I didn't take photos of our food items, except for the rangoon. LOL! I had a nice time with our group. I will probably go back - and perhaps try one of the fried items. read more

had oysters & vodka, both were good. My friend had a LA Shrimp Boil and he said it was good. Service was prompt. You can tell this was something else in the past. It's a stand alone building with mentor parking around it and it on a major road/highway. We specifically went there for my oysters the other places did not have any despite having oyster in its name. read more

Service: Slow Food: Good Cleanliness: Subpar On Saturday 06/21/2025, I dined at Crafty Crab in Tallahassee, FL. Since I was dining solo, I wanted to sit at the bar to have a few drinks before ordering. The bar top in front of me was filled with empty dirty glasses. I was served a drink by a female employee working behind the bar, but she never attempted to remove the dirty unsightly glasses (more than 10 dirty glasses) sitting right in front of me. Another male bar tender / server came behind the bar and asked if I needed anything else, but again, NEVER attempted to remove the dirty glasses from in front of me. As I sat, a couple of guys next to me ordered martini's and the I heard the female bar tender say, "I don't have any clean glasses, so I will have to serve your drinks in this water / soft drink glass." WOW. There were three employees behind the bar who had an opportunity to remove the dirty glasses, but none of them took the initiative to do so. Obviously, since no one was going to remove the dirty glasses, after sitting for about 10 minutes, I decided to move to a clean tabletop inside the bar area. I ordered the 10 Piece Fried Shrimp Basket with onion rings as my choice of side and the 4 Piece Fried Catfish Basket with Cole slaw as my choice of side. I waited about 20 minutes for my order and when it came to the table, it was incorrect with the fried catfish basket missing. Instead, the server brought out a fried oyster basket. The server apologized, but I had to wait another 10 minutes for the fried catfish basket. I wanted to enjoy the shrimp and fish as a combination, but due to the server error, that did not happen. Both baskets were served fresh, hot, and the shrimp, fish, and onion rings were all perfectly breaded, fried, and had great flavor. The Cole slaw was dry and bland. I really enjoyed both dishes. Waste of time. I was seated for 15 minutes with no waiter offering me a drink. I had to call someone to take my order and was told that my server will be right with me. No one came for another 5-10 minutes. Walked out and left. read more

Crafty Crab is one of several low country boil-esque seafood restaurants that have opened in Tallahassee and thus are obviously part of a restaurant trend. Initial impression of the menu via Yelp seemed to indicate this would have to be a rare expensive option as it seemed like anything I would be interested in would be around $25 or more and our favorite local fried seafood restaurants were much cheaper than that. Plus it didn't appear that you could have them hold the seasoning which would be a problem for the picky eater. Surprise, surprise sergeant. We entered expecting to order fried seafood but decided to splurge on snow crab legs for my wife and I found 1/2 pound of shrimp with sausage added that didn't cause too much sticker shock. In fact my shrimp and sausage was in the ballpark with what I pay at my favorite fried seafood restaurants. Presentation is in a big plastic bag inflated with steam on a platter. All of it was good and more food than expected. My wife enjoyed her crab legs once she got them to bring "just butter" melted butter. The first melted butter they brought was full of garlic. This Crafty Crab location is in a log "cabin" building that started as Buckhead Brewery and then was Wilderness Cabin before the pandemic closed them down. Lots of wood and high ceilings. Gone are the stuffed animals and antlers. They have been replaced by beachy decor more appropriate for a seafood restaurant. The only remodeling of note is a bar where the buffet used to be. The bathrooms are exactly the same as Wilderness Cabin left them. Service was ok. It wasn't busy but it took awhile to see our waitress again to get that "just butter" melted butter which was a little aggravating. read more

The food and the service is good The issue that will keep me from coming back is the music. We stopped going to the one off of apalachee parkway because the music is so inappropriate - it's not family friendly at all - now the capital circle store is also playing songs with lots of cussing and sexual content. Those songs really shouldn't be in the music player. read more

I went to Crafty Crab on Capital Circle NE for my son-in-law's birthday. There were about 30 of us. Nadia was our server and was absolutely amazing. She kept a smile on her face and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food came in a reasonable amount of time and was fresh and hot. She had a great personality and even joked with us. Nadia is a great asset to Crafty Crab. Be sure to ask for her as your server. ONLY complaint, it was FREEZING in there read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I wish I would've seen the Yelp reviews because they have 4.7 stars on Google maps, but 3.3 on Yelp. What a disappointment of a meal after sitting in a 10 hour business meeting... I rarely post bad reviews but this place deserves it Food: got the half pound snow crab and shrimp combo, and it was terrible. Got one cluster of four thin legs for my "half pound" and the legs barely had any meat. Crab was overcooked. Shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. Eggs were grey and rubbery. Pretty sad when the corn cob is the highlight of a seafood boil. Service: the restaurant was pretty empty and I was the only one in the bar and the manager proceeded to have a meeting where she was yelling and cursing with her employees right by me. Super awkward. Then she proceeds to do a bar training for 7 employees while they all sit around me as the only patron in the bar. Continuing to be loud and extremely awkward for me. I was a bar manager for 5 years, you don't ever have staff meetings or training when patrons are within earshot or eating. It was so unprofessional....if you're going to meet in the bar then kindly redirect me to a table in the restaurant. Don't proceed to meet with a patron present. Also got a cheap little plastic fork to eat my crab with... cmon!! You're a seafood boil place give me real silverware. And if you're charging $13 for Martinis, serve it in a martini glass not a margarita glass. Just tacky All in all a crappy ending to a long day. $50 poorly spent read more

My go to place for great crab boil and service. Servers are always friendly and on spot.

This is definitely a much nicer looking location then the other 2 locations that are in town. Maybe because it is the newest but they had lots of staff and were very attentive to customers. Service was good and our food came out very quickly. Will definitely visit this location again over the others. read more

Food: Awesome. Wife and I shared the small buttery garlic seafood platter. We also upped to headless shrimp. The platter had: corn, potatoes, shrimp, snow crab, crawfish, mussels, and clams. Service; Jasmine was wonderful. Very friendly. Kept us in drinks. Came back numerous times to check on us. I will ask for her the next time! Ambiance: The restaurant was clean and very nice. I understand not everyone has the same taste in music. I'm rock and roll, not really into country or rap....... The volume seem to go to high when rap was on, barely could hear the music when something else was playing. BUT. The music was so loud I thought I was in a Club, and not a restaurant. ALSO. Playing was Cardi B singing a song which included the lyrics "WET A** PU**Y" really isn't what I expect to hear at a family restaurant. My wife didn't appreciate it. Perhaps a set recording or fixed channel and volume. If it wasn't for the music issue, I'd easily given a 4 for my first review of Crafty Crab. read more

Ate here with my daughter! It wasn't very busy. The restaurant was clean and the service staff were friendly. Food was really good!

As my wife and I were in the parking lot upon leaving the inside of Crafty Crab for dinner, I asked her what was the predominant flavor she had in her mouth? She said and I thought alike, it was the dough flavor of the breading. It wasn't flavor of fried shrimp, it wasn't the flavor of fried oysters and it wasn't the flavor of fried onion rings. It wasnt even the flavor of salt or pepper. Too bad. I thought it was maybe something like cardboard but doughy. The breading was nicely crunchy but had no seasonings to it at all - bland. The cole slaw was acceptable, a B- to a C+ Perhaps this is all corporate frozen food? In all regards, the servings were generous. Lots of stuff to eat. You can fill up but you may never reach a moment of enjoyment. Munch munch munch. Coconut shrimp...I tasted a hint of coconut. But no flavor of shrimp. My wife had fried shrimp, a dozen pretty shrimp but no flavor. Ive attached a photo of the basket of breading that was stripped from her shrimp. My fried oysters came the closest to being tasty....I tasted a hint of oysters. But they were over cooked and heavily breaded. The waiter did a good job. Will we go back?...the magic question. NO. read more

Crafty Crab - basket full of tasteless breading after my wife stripped the fried shrimp of it - Seafood Near Me - Tallahassee, Florida

The food was tasty and service fast. Unfortunately, after dinner (about 8:30), they cranked up the music, enough so you couldn't have a conversation. Friend said we needed to go because loud music giving her a headache. Music not suited to all...maybe college kids! Also, friend who bought a mixed drink said she couldn't taste the alcohol and had to get another shot to make it a real drink. read more

Server was attentive, however management failed to schedule enough staff to cover the busy restaurant.

This is the worst excuse for seafood I've had in my life. I'm 68 years old and have eaten seafood in many different states. Never have I had food served in a plastic bag, swimming in a puddle of what I assume is not real butter. The scallops were tiny and full of tiny rocks or sand. The lobster was rubber and served like nothing I've ever seen before. Basically the food is trash. The poor server was very gracious and put up with my complaints. So I tipped him well because it's not his fault that this company serves garbage. Honestly I don't know how this place is still in business. Go anywhere but here. I wouldn't give them a star but it wouldn't let me post without at least 1,, undeserved. read more

Dev was amazing! Never had a waitress like her! 100% recommend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight I visited the "newest" Crafty Crab to celebrate my niece's birthday!!! The food was good, as usual, but what stood out the most in this visit was the customer service! Jackson created an excellent and memorable dining experience for my niece's birthday. He was knowledgeable of the menu and provided excellent recommendations when asked. He was very attentive, engaging and witty, and detaile-oriented; he made sure all special requests were satisfied in detail. The thing that stood out the most was his ability to be extremely attentive without being intrusive, which can prove to be a difficult balance for both new and seasoned servers/waiters to master. Jackson understands the assignment!!!! As for management, actually I should say leadership, because Carrie isn't just a manager, she's a true leader. Carrie has put together a great team...the synergy and camaraderie among them is evident! It's obvious she cares about her people and setting them up for success, and they care about and respect her. They help each other and have each other's back. Great leaders have an eye for talent and they know how to nurture, motivate and inspire their team to get the best from them. No matter the job or industry...those leadership skills translate! Great job Jackson and Carrie! I'll definitely be back! Thank you both for a great dining experience! And if you're going on a weekend, ask for Jackson! He will take excellent care of you! read more

The servers are very rude, attitudes out of this world. My order was wrong and cold. 2/10 wouldn't recommend.

Seriously. It was a 10 out of 10 tonight. Thank you! Great food, service and ambiance!

Horrible Establishment. We were tourist just coming through Tallahasse, and wanted to try Cajun Seafood for the first time, and we're deeply disappointed. Did not get drinks till mid meal, and only saw our waitress once besides when she was at the bar drinking with the locals. Pretty awful restaurant. read more

I had visited another Crafty Crab location in Tallahassee, but did not enjoy it until I visited this location. The food was excellent as was the service. We had the special and it was plenty for the two of us. We also had the combination of all the seasonings combined which they call the bomb. Also, it is a fun experience everyone must experience it at least once. It would be a good place for the boss to take the office or to bring relatives, meet up with friends, etc.. I highly recommend Crafty Crab at the Capital Circle Northeast location! read more

Food was great. The server, Traci, was awesome. We had a party of 10, splitting checks lots of needs and she was awesome.

Came for a second time with the same serve. "Fly" was our server, amazing as always. However half way through my dinner (I ordered 1 lbs of snow crab and 1 lbs of crawfish) and I noticed there was a HAIR in my food. I notified my server and he told me that he would take it off my order and bring me a whole new order. When my new order came it was half a cluster of crab and 3 crawfish. Ridiculous. Then I get the bill and they literally tried to charge me full price for everything. The manager who refused to give me her name had the audacity to tell me it was my fault and that I already ate half my food. And that I should have noticed sooner that there was a HAIR IN MY FOOD. After arguing back and forth the "best they could do was "30%". Are you kidding me?? I've gotten better service at McDonald's. This was the worst service by far I have ever received at Craft Crab. I am absolutely appalled at this woman. How she is a manager is beyond me. Do not come here if you expect to be treated with any human decency. IF I COULD RATE - Stars I would. read more
