Even an in-person pickup is a FAILURE. 90% of the time, the pickle is missing with specific sandwiches going back to 2023. On 12/9/25, I was on my way home and decided to try a pickup order since I was literally in the same parking lot. This time, no BBQ chips as ordered for the side. UNION CHAPEL is the ONLY location I've had incomplete orders with- again, going back to 2023. I travel a good amount and recently visited the Creve Coeur location in St. Louis and was thrilled with their efficiency. The "business manager" responds to bad reviews as if these were positive. All that does is alienate customers. I've tried a lot of sugar approach. I'm now using the vinegar approach. The Castleton location is farther away, but isn't frustrating at all. I have sent the district manager some communication regarding UNION CHAPEL and we'll just see how that goes. Thus far, there is no interest in improving inefficiency. read more

I'm actually surprised I've never reviewed this McAlister's Deli location as I would consider it one of my favorite spots for the chain. For those unaware, McAlister's Deli was started in Oxford, Mississippi about 30 years ago by a dentist. McAlister's now has over 500 restaurants in 28 states. The menu leans toward healthier fare ranging from deli to sandwiches to salads to baked potatoes to soups. McAlister's also, of course, specializes in iced tea and is quite known for it. You can buy tea and lemonade by the gallon, as well. If you're a Rewards Club member, you can even get what they call a "tea pass" that will get you a tea daily. And yes, they do have a Rewards app. McAlister's also does catering. McAlister's does have a handful of dessert options, though I'll admit I've never been impressed by them. Side options include a variety of chips, mac n' cheese, potato salad, steamed broccoli (if you get this, you're weird), a side garden salad, a side caesar salad, and a couple others. Again, it leans healthier. I nearly always order the Black Angus Club sandwich and skip the horseradish. Interestingly, on this visit I forgot to skip the horseradish and still liked it. This location is for the most part accessible. There's accessible parking spots in front of the Jos. Bank store about 3 doors down. It's truly ADA. Interestingly enough, however, whoever designed the sidewalks really missed the mark in terms of ADA. There are appropriate curb cuts and accessing McAlister's is easy, however, if you want to combine your trip and head down to Kohl's you'll actually have to leave the sidewalk and go around Flamme (between tables and a light post, getting through is impossible). There's a double-entry, a bit of a pain, but once inside things are fine. There are multiple table options that are easily accessible. I was impressed that one of the employees actually apologized for not getting to the door to open it before I did. I've always liked this location. It's warm and inviting and I've always found both employees and customers friendly here. There are times I avoid the after-church crowd as the behavior can be cringy (It's not just a stereotype), but here it seems to be just the opposite. Yes, the prices are a bit higher here. However, I'm getting a healthier meal that is tasty in an environment I enjoy being in. I also get iced tea I love (and if you've read my reviews you know I'm an iced tea freak) and always get a refill. Employees are friendly and helpful. While I wish the sidewalk issue was better, that's on the landlord and it won't keep me from coming back. (Oh, and there's a Smallcakes a couple doors down. Yum.). read more

This is a great place to go if you are in need of a simple and healthy lunch! The ambiance is very casual and has a very homey vibe! My go to menu selection is the pick two. You can choose half a sandwich, soup, salad, chips, or wraps! This is a great option if you like to taste a little of everything! I usually get the Italian sandwich with the tomato bisque soup! Delicious! Don't forget to grab a sweat tea to wash it all down! The food is always good. I just wish the portion sizes are bigger. The food is more like a snack. Update from previous review. Had a talk with one of the managers about the chronic problem of not including items as requested. We had a good chat and I appreciated the tine she took to contact me. There are "new sandwich makers that are being trained appropriately." I was told I could pick up VIP cards for the repeated hassle. After arriving and a short "grill" from TM as to whom I talked with and when and why, I received them in about 10 minutes, although I was told they would be ready. I've always had stupendous service here. The staff is so welcoming and if there has ever been an issue they were more than gracious in helping resolve it. I came in late after the lunch rush and my soup was not hot and the manager was so nice to offer to fix it. I did not ask or expect but she went above my expectations! Aside from that, the restaurant is large with plenty of different sized tables so great for groups if they come in. Everything comes out pretty quickly and they have a spot for pickles/peppers to self serve while waiting for your food. The sweet tea is one of the well known items and is delicious every time. They are always promoting a new, seasonal item and I was excited to try the Pecanberry Salad! It tasted so fresh! My only complaint was that the dressing is a little sweeter than anticipated but it went well with the salad, I just used a very small amount. The soups here are also the best! There was no one else eating there at this time. We sat in a booth, and the table diagonal from us still had all its dirty dishes on it. Not very appetizing! We came for lunch and ended up waiting an hour for our food. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, plenty of open tables. Upon waiting over a half hour, we asked about our order with the intention to get a refund. We were told "you guys are next". It took another half hour for our food to arrive. The worst McAlister's experience I've had by far, go to a different location if you can. Although I have been to this location at least twice (once last week), I had nor written a review. As far as nationwide (?) delis go, this is one of the better ones I've tried. I find I am a consistently a fan of their soups. I've not tried any entrees, but I usually get a sandwich or as in my most recent visit, a combo half and half. The spicy Chicken soup was really good. Not super spicy, but with enough flavor to wake up the taste buds. I also had the Spicy Southwest Chicken sandwich which also had chicken and some avocado and a bit of spice was just a little underwhelming in flavor. Nothing bad, just no wow factor. My wife had the grilled chicken Caesar and the broccoli cheddar soup combo. Both were good, but she didn't rave about them. The soup comes in what I estimate to be 1/2 cup portions in the combos. The sandwiches are half sized, but still plenty to eat. We were undecided about where to eat since it was nearing lunch on a Sunday. All the brunch places were packed, so I remembered McAlisers was nearby and instead of phoning ahead to save time, we just arrived, placed our to go order at the counter, and waited in a designated area that had plenty of spacing. Plenty of hand sanitizers in the area too. So, although it wasn't a fast turn around do to the lack of phoning in on our part, the wait wasn't too long. We decided to take our order out to our car instead of sitting on the small patio area which needed some busing of the tables. Came here for lunch recently and had an OK time. First, the dining area was pretty standard deli fare. I will say that some of the booths were larger than expected, so we had plenty of space when eating and that was nice. Drinkwise, my wife and I both ordered a Coke Zero, but that was a big mistake since each drink was gigantic :) We definitely should have just ordered one and shared it. Other than our food taking a while to arrive, the service throughout the meal was excellent.I got the Sweet Chipotle Chicken for my entree and thought it was OK but not great. I ordered through Doordash for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. I have eaten at a McAlister's Deli a hand full of times and it's never been my go-to sandwich shop. Today may have changed that! I loved the sandwich I had--the Jalapeno Turkey Crunch! So good! There was a lot of fresh avocado on it, more than most restaurants would use. Plus the subtle hint of jalapeño from the bread combined with the jalapeño chip flavor and crunch-wow! They also appear to grill the meat and it adds a depth of flavor. I will most definitely be ordering this sandwich again! I highly recommend trying it! As far as the broccoli cheddar soup--it was good but it's not my style of soup. It was a little too thick, for lack of better word. I also had the potato salad and that was pretty tasty! Oh! I almost forgot! When I received my order, I opened the box and with the sandwich was the smallest "side of chips" I had ever seen. I immediately said to my husband "you've got to be kidding?!" and held them up for him to see. I'd gotten out my camera and everything because boy was I going to leave a review on that! I've been frequenting different McAlister's in the Indy area for years and let me tell you, this location gets the award for Most Improved. It was never bad of course but the service wasn't overly great. But now, this location is my fave! Kudos to the team here for taking pride in their jobs and making the McAlister's experience here above the rest! When I am dining in they always check for refills and clear my plates quickly. I've placed orders for pick up and have never had an issue with items missing. Now when it comes to food I have my faves as well. In the warmer months get their Chicken Pecanberry Salad in a wrap. It's delicious! I always love their macaroni and cheese as a side. In the colder months I enjoy their Spuds or Sweet Chipotle Chicken Panini. Treat yourself to one of their brownies, cookies, or brookie! You can't go wrong with a McAlister's sweet tea with lemon! Really surprised I've never reviewed this McAlisters loaction. We normally visit the one at 96th and Meridian. This location was super busy on a Saturday around 2pm. Lots of dirty tables and it didn't look like a lot of staff. My King Club was full of meat and cheese and it was very filling and satisfying. Server actually brought adequate butter for my husbands potato. He usually has to ask multiple times for more. Sweet tea is always a winner at McAlisters. Decides to have a late lunch after work. They offered many lunch options such as half a spud and soup or salad. I went with a classic spud with cheese and bacon with a lemonade/sweet. The staff was very friendly and apologized for having to containers only. The only somewhat bad thing was the potato wasn't cooked all the way and you could tell the cheese was placed on it then microwaved. But it was good to sit down and have something warm. This is my favorite McAlister's in all of the world, which includes Indianapolis. I've really focused this year on only posting new reviews if the wait staff is above average and they are. I've interacted with roughly 10 different employees here and they've all been genuinely friendly. I've also, unfortunately, seen them treated unfairly and rudely on a number of occasions and they've displayed the patience of job while the customers have shown the patience of a jack-ass. It's a chain restaurant people! Can we please stop expecting service like the concierge is delivering our meal at the Ritz Carlton?! I cannot think of an item I have tried that I do not like. On my last visit, I had the grilled chicken croissant. It is served with lettuce, tomato and honey mustard. I washed it down with a tall Arnold Palmer......Oh, and I bought a chocolate chip cookie. Those cookies are humongous and its only a buck. (I bought it as a snack for the return flight since UA no longer give free snacks inflight). I also like the chicken tortilla soup, turkey melts and muffulettas. You will note that most of the items here are unhealthy. There are maybe ten items on the entire menu listed as "healthier choices". If you choose to dine here, leave your diet at the door. So, it is a good spot to grab a bite, but probably not the place to eat every day. Just every time you are in town. I cannot get enough of the unsweetened ice tea. Sometimes if it's really hot out and I have time to kill, I'll head over and get a snack and an iced tea and chill for an hour or so. They come by to check on you and refill your iced tea as often as you want, for free! Plus, they have wi-fi, so I have setup shop and worked from here for a few hours. Of the four restaurants I have been to this McAlister's twice. Each time, I have received rude, unprofessional behavior from the those who have worked there. Each time, I ordered online and they acted as if they had no idea what I was talking about when I arrived. I had my order number, the correct McAlisters (apparently this is a problem for them), and arrived on time. The management in both visits were snarky and rude. read more

This was one of the first McAlister's Deli open in central Indiana and I have eaten here several times over the past few years. It is located just across the 86th street bridge near Keystone at the crossing area. The inside of the stores is very clean and nice looking, and there is usually plenty of tables no matter what time you go. Even with the long lines during lunch time they have several counters open to get you through quickly and back out the door. The meats they use are excellent quality and you can taste the difference over a cheaper priced sub-type sandwich. They can custom make all types of sandwiches for you. They also have several excellent sides such as chili and macaroni and cheese, large cookies, salads, and baked potatoes loaded up anyway you want. This is an excellent meeting place for lunch that won't break your budget. I highly recommend trying them if you have not yet. read more
