The ambience of this McAlisters is a little cold... they have TVs on with no sound or subtitles, which makes no sense. The service is hit or miss. No initial greeting or extra check-ups at the table. Just at the register and when they drop your food at the table. The food is good and it's a good value. I use the app a lot so there's decent rewards. We always get the club sandwich, club wrap, cookies, lemonade, sweet tea, broccoli and cheddar soup -- always great. Upon entering this location I was greeted by a festive atmosphere because today was Free Tea Day. The staff had decorated with balloons everywhere, especially around their dedicated Tea Bar. Today I also learned they do breakfast catering. I ordered off the Choose 2 option and selected a cup of Chicken Tortilla soup plus the classic Grilled Chicken on a Croissant. My plate came with a pickle and some plain Tostitos chips. The grilled chicken sandwich was good although it is better when the croissant is not cut in half. The soup was too spicy for me to eat. I would have thought a Mexican flavor would have been good enough without making it so spicy some people can't tolerate the spiciness. There was nothing on the menu indicating it was spicy. Service was excellent! Fast and efficient at the order counter with prompt and correct delivery to the table. My food delivery person noticed I didn't have a drink and brought me a cup after we both realized it had been forgotten. Also after my finished meal plate had been taken away so quickly, another staff member stopped by wondering if I was still waiting on food delivery. No issues with parking and the restrooms were clean and fragranced. read more

There were few people dining inside the restaurant, but there were quite a few carryout orders waiting for pickup. The potatoes were huge, soft, and fluffy. I love baked potatoes, and I can tell instantly if a restaurant is serving reheated potatoes. This were perfect, and the vegetable toppings were fresh and plentiful. Had lunch at McAlister's today near 116th and Keystone. We ordered the Memphian sandwich. It's $15.29 for a 12" and $10.29 for a 6". We ordered the 12" to split, my wife and I. We also ordered a kids broccoli and cheese bowl for $3.49 with a side of cucumber and tomato mix ....just because we like these as sides. This is not on their printed menu as a kids meal option. This sandwich is considered one of their Premium Sandwiches. We've never had it, so decided to try something new. It's smoked Turkey, Black Forest ham, black angus roast beef, provolone, spring mix lettuce, tomato, Mayo and spicy brown mustard on a toasted baguette. The sandwich was served hot and, even though they were busy, it arrived at our table quickly. Normally I'd balk at a $15+ sub sandwich. However, this contained a lot of meat and was very filling. Make sure you join the McAlister Rewards program. They give you discount coupons. Today I used one that gave me regular points plus an additional 200 if I purchased a sandwich. At 500 points you can get a free kids meal. So next time we visit, we can get our favorite broccoli cheese bowl for free! Finally, we really like their "serve yourself" tea bar. I ordered for online pickup. After getting home and opening the bag I realize my husband's french dip sandwich did not include the Au Jus sauce that makes the sandwich a dipper to begin with. Then upon opening the French dip we realize it has barely any meat or toppings on it; it was so small. The Cajun red beans and rice was cold and was basically all beans, a few grains of rice, and no sausage? I got the grilled chicken club where the chicken was very chewy and inedible. I'm pregnant and couldn't even eat due to fear of getting food poisoning. Honestly not worth the $30 I spent when neither my husband nor I were comfortable eating any of the food we received. read more

Been here multiple times. Most of the time eating in is fine. Sometimes they don't follow customizations well. Had one order without olives that came with olives. Last pickup order my Spicy Southwest Chicken Sandwich did not include avocados and it's the only reason why I ordered this sandwich. Very upset but I was busy all night so I went back to McAlister's the next morning and they made me a complimentary Spicy Southwest Chicken Sandwich correctly this time and gave me a side and a drink while waiting. The managers here are incompetent and do not know how to lead or mentor their employees. I've worked here for a while as a summer job and will never again. It's the same as any other McAlister's in terms of food and service if you just want to get food, but trust me, do not apply here. They need new management. read more

My wife and I are quite disappointed with this McAlisters. We came in for an early dinner 4 pm on Saturday 10/28. We both ordered pick 2 option and similar orders. 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and 1/2 baked potato. The person at the register said she would check to see if the had baked potatoes. Then we waited for several minutes. Finally I waved down the cook in the kitchen. He says "oh, no. Our potato warmer is broken, and the potatoes are cold, and it's not worth making 2. Ok. Well. That's strange. We felt minimized by that comment. So we ordered 2 cups of broccoli cheddar soup. When the meals were brought to the table I asked the server if they had crackers. She replied "oh I'm sorry we are out of crackers". We thought how could they be out of crackers??? I don't think we are going to come back here. In fact. No, we are definitely not coming back P.s the 1/2 sandwich was very skimpy. Ugh. p.p.s. I complained to the manager on duty. He said they had been out of crackers and were waiting on a truck to deliver new ones. As far as the potato warmer, he said it went out a couple of days ago and they were waiting on a repair person to fix or replace it. Convenient location for me but too many 'issues'. Will look for another location next time. Placed order at counter, to go. Had a Special Offer for 50% off 2nd entree when buying one. Was told the kids meal does not count as an entree, even though it is at other locations. In addition, I found this on line saying that a kids meal DOES count as an entree. From on-line: "Yes, McAlister's Deli's kids meal counts as an entree." Was told that when they scan my QR code, that tells them that I couldn't use the 50% off, not a local decision. Then why am I able to get this at other locations? My order was to-go & when I got home & opened the kids meal potato, I was shocked. This was the smallest potato I've ever seen at McAlister's. At other locations you get a normal size potato, not the adult one that comes with a spud order but a medium potato. No butter in the bag :(. The couple of bites that it provided were good but really! The broccoli was delicious! The tea was wonderful. The 2nd entree was a choose two of the chicken tortilla soup & club. It was delicious. In addition, if you buy a gift card for someone else, YOU do NOT get the credit for your purchase. The receiver of YOUR gift, gets the points. Makes NO sense to me. I don't often write bad reviews, but today was so bad that I'm not sure I'll be back. Listen, I get it. Covid-19 is serious. I'm in the medical field. We do testing for Covid-19 and my medical team across the country works with patients dealing with this crisis. We were front and center in New York and New Jersey. The way the staff at McAlister's treated me today when I came in to try to order takeout was hideous. You would have thought I was a terrorist. They were mocking and rude. Apparently on the day the governor opens up the state again, McAlister's is locking things down even further. Every one of us has more exposure in the grocery store than I would have had in McAlister's today. I get it, if the CEO of your company says this is the new policy, then that's the policy, I'm a business owner, I get that. BUT, there's a nice way to say it, and there's the way they said it to me today. If I had treated one of my clients like the team at McAlister's had treated me today, I would never expect to see them again. This time will end, and when it does, these businesses are going to want us to patronize them again, and McAlister's is NOT going to receive my business, not for my family and not for any future business meetings. I've supported local almost every day as my way of doing my part for the local businesses in my community, and McAlister's has received my regular business, but after today that's going to change. BTW, I've been tested, I'm negative for Covid-19. I made the crew at McAlister's aware of that today while seeking an option to place an order. They didn't care and they were rude as hell about it. I'm definitely a fan of the McAlister's chain, though tonight's visit to the Carmel location on East 116th Street was a rare letdown from the surprisingly dependable chain that weaves together great iced tea, good food, great customer service, and fair prices. Unfortunately, this first visit to this location will also probably be my last. As you pull up to this free-standing building, one of the few free-standing locations of McAlister's in Central Indiana, you immediately get a solid vibe as the exterior has the McAlister's decor and the outside includes what looks like a casual but inviting dining area. There's a couple accessible spots with an appropriate ramp to the side of the building. The usual McAlister's doorways (bigger doors, double-sided) are a tad heavy, but workable. Service was fairly quick for the early evening of a Friday night. The person taking my order was fine, though lacked the usual McAlister's spark of hospitality. The counter was incredibly high - McAlister's tends to have high counters, but this seemed higher. Ultimately, that's workable. I ordered my usual - a black angus club, hold the horseradish, with chips and an unsweetened iced tea. It was right about $12. While McAlister's always has the separate counter for iced tea, its utilization is always a little inconsistent. It was in full use at this location. I got my iced tea and headed for a table. The weird thing here, and it's a major star loss, is that not a single table truly qualifies as accessible. Not one. The tables are either a little high, booths, or they are so packed in you can't fit a wheelchair without moving chairs (and no one was bothering to offer help). I finally sat at the end of a table, though this made me partially block an aisle (people could get by - it was not a fire hazard). It was really unusual, especially given the overall roominess of the restaurant. I finally got my food. I was pleased to see they'd remembered to not add horseradish, but I was kind of surprised to find not a single slice of bacon the sandwich. I took it apart to look. I mean, it was seriously weird. While that's not the main ingredient, bacon is an ingredient that causes a price increase and, well, it's bacon. If it's supposed to be on the sandwich, you want it. I was bummed. I ultimately decided it wasn't a huge enough deal to return the sandwich. In most McAlister's locations, someone comes around and offers refills. That never happened, though I did go to the counter and get mine. Still, it's part of that hospitality thing. The food was still good. So, I can't completely trash the experience. Plus, the employees weren't really rude or anything. They just lacked the usual McAlister's spark. The accessibility issue truly bugged me. So, overall, I have to say this is probably my least favorite experience I've had in a Central Indiana area McAlister's. This location's a bit out of my way, so I don't suppose it's really that much of a loss for them for me to say "I won't return," but it's pretty noteworthy for me since I'm a huge fan of most of their locations - even the ones in not so great areas. With so many top notch offerings in Carmel, average simply doesn't cut it and that might explain why business was only fairly modest. For now, I'll stick to the locations closer to my home. read more

I have been coming here since this McAlister's opened many years ago. I had a sandwich and potato salad tonight. I arrived 20 minutes before they closed. The food was ok, but it has gone down in quality. French dip sandwich is full of fat and gristle now. The two young men were not polite or helpful. At 8:55pm, they were mopping floors right next to where I was sitting. They were rude. When I asked if I could finish eating, he said he wasn't sure. When I asked for a refill of iced tea, they said they had already thrown it out. They were rude, not kind, not helpful and I am certain they will be joining the list of other recent stores and restaurants that have closed in this area. They had a terrible attitude! We stop here often for salads, pick up and dine in. I'm impressed that my pick up orders have always been correct and without issues. Salads are always fresh and leave me feeling like I got my money's worth. Staff is always polite and often cheerful. I have attended business meetings here and management is always extremely accommodating. My son would like to see burgers added to the kids meal or for them to bring back hot dogs. He tried the pita pizza today and was not a fan. Price is great and their tea is fantastic! read more

Look, I love the food, the service and the ambiance, it's something else.... I order gallons of tea at a time for my Mother, who has Alzheimer's.... She absolutely loves the sweet tea! That is the only thing she will drink! So... I buy it for her gallons at a time... about every other time I buy it I get a couple of gallons that are not sweet! Now... we know this is just people being lazy and not wanting to go the extra mile to make the order correct. It's not like I am there breathing down their necks waiting on them to finish the order, I give them hours to complete the order! Let me start by saying him a huge fan of McAlisters. I've been working right around the corner for a year and just discovered this location. Yesterday I did a curbside pick and there was a small issue with my order, so I called just to let them know. The manager Tony appologized and told me to ask for him the next time I came in. I told him it wasn't the end of the world I just wanted to let someone know. I went back today and tony personally took care of me and went above and beyond to "make it right". I've been to McAlister's Deli many, many times. I had several 3 star experiences mostly due messed up orders. They frequently get my husband's order wrong - using the wrong bread as well as serving soup cold. - not hot enough anyway. It's definitely an inconvenience when that happens since we have to wait a fair amount of time for the corrected order. I don't recall ever having a problem with my order. I usually choose the Southwest Chicken & Avacado salad and most often treat myself to a chocolate chip cookie as well (one of the best chocolate chip cookies around). They've recently started using the app again and began by loading a very generous 1500 points. That was enough to cover an entree. While I enjoy the food, I wish the prices were a little less expensive - it's a pretty expensive lunch for two people. read more

Ordered salad and soup. Salad was wet and brown from being bottom of the barrel lettuce and drenched in dressing (which I ordered on the side). Tortilla chips for the soup were so stale they didn't even crack when you bit into them. Chicken tortilla soup had one dime sized piece of chicken in it. To reach the minimum order, I also ordered my dinner which was a huge baked potato with all the fixings (ham, cheese, bacon, butter, black olives, sour cream) and a taco salad. Always has great service and food. My kids love the extra pickles and the staff does a good job of walking around offering to refill your drinks and pick up dishes. This time i has a Reuben and it was delicious. My side was mashed potatoes. The only thing I would have changed was getting dessert. And more cheese on my sandwich. I was checked in on 3 times to ask my name with no follow up and when they finally looked up my order, they recalled they had handed my order to a delivery person. We went for free tea day and it was busy, but not too busy. The line went quickly and everyone was working hard to get everyone their food and also kept our teas full. They have the best tea. I get half regular and half sweet and it's perfect. I pretty much always get the orange cranberry club with no mayo. Sometimes I forget to say no mayo. I don't hate it, but just strong prefer to not have it on my food. It did come with it, but they were quick to get me a new one. I love the cranberry sauce on my sandwich. Sometimes I get a salad, but when getting a sandwich it is always my first choice. Desserts here are good too. I love the brownies and today we got the chocolate spoon cake which was just wow. It was amazing. It was super rich and very good. This location does a great job when it's packed at lunch and I love we can get in and out and back to work. read more

My concern today is that when I placed my to-go order, wearing my mask, as the sign on the doors states, I noticed a family of 4 (man, woman & 2 children) come in & go to the counter to place their orders. Only the woman had a mask on yet no one asked them to either put one on or leave. The man & children were old enough to be required to wear them. That was THIS location. On the other hand, I was at a different location recently & the servers asked a man who was also with his family to put one on. They left. What a nice experience. Everytime I go to McAlister's Deli, I think of this place as on the same level as Chick Fil A. High service and great quality. Me and two friends went for a quick lunch and we were pretty indescisive but the cashier was SO patient with us! We were thankful for that. I ended up getting a spud which I never got before and it was so GOOD, I got the pick two and got a yummy sandwich as well. We got water with our meals and I LOVED the BIG cups for water - gotta stay hydrated :) Also, my friend had randomly went into the restaurant the day before and she had unsweet tea, she brought it back to recycle and was given a free refill and didn't have to pay for it, which was such GREAT service, people don't do things like that anymore. I went in around 11am on a Thursday. There were people but not a line to order. The person who took my order was very nice! I got the plain spud with cheese and a Caesar salad. The spud was good and I like the side do butter. The salad was also good. Another plus is that the water cups are super big and they fill them for you as well as bring out your food. read more
