I can't believe I haven't written a review about this place! I used to come to Elko, Nevada for work once a month and would always eat here at least once. Several years later I found myself back here for work and told my co-workers we have to eat here. Inside is a quaint little cafe that has been around for years. On the day we were here the place was very busy because of the Cowboy poetry annual event was in town. Either way service was awesome and so was the food. I got the daily quiche with ham and veggies with a side salad. This was delicious! I would highly recommend this spot to anyone passing through or visiting. They have a great breakfast and lunch menu and you won't go away hungry!
Honest dine in experience: well worth having to find a parking spot: 5/5 will be back the next time we're in the area! When I think hole in the wall, this place has all the vibes to give you some of the best indications that the food is going to be simply amazing... we were met by some warm greetings as we were taken to our table; it was nice and cozy and welcoming and we made it work as it was just 3 of us. We were even offered a larger table when it came available, but we made it work happily. Between my fiancée and I, we tried the blue cheese burger and the monthly breakfast special. I'll highlight some of the best touches of our meal down below: -Parmesan crusted potatoes: 5/5 I still remember this bite of potatoes a month later... grated Parmesan cheese over what feels like a poached potato that's fluffy on the inside and crusted on the outside with panko, simply just a well rounded bite to complement our meal. Croissant monthly special: 5/5 Decadent and just light and fluffy you're met with a sandwich that had the buttery flakes you'd expect from a croissant and the lightness from the greens. Add the savory fillings from the sauce and combining the egg and you're just met with a balanced bite that alone just gives you a savory experience. My fiancée had the blue cheese burger and I will say... that was one of the best burgers I think we've both had to this day from a local diner, on our 4000 mile trip, this was the best first stop we could have asked for. Definitely earned the 5 stars!
Traveling East and the Yelp reviews spoke well of McAdoo's. They were right. We had the buffalo burger, w/side salad and the grilled chicken sandwich with potatoes. Plus 2 fresh squeezed orange juices. Good size serving, fresh ingredients, could sense the care in preparing every plate that came out of the kitchen. And, super friendly staff. Great lunch and experience. Luv from Wisconsin
Really cute, small eatery. Clearly popular as it was very full and we had a 30 minute wait. Service was prompt and friendly. Quiche was just okay. A bit overcooked. Nice pancakes. But the star was that tri tip dip sandwich and salad. Good flavors. The salad had a lovely raspberry peppercorn vinaigrette. I'd love to stop by again if we're ever in the area to try other menu items. The two gender neutral restrooms were single stall and clean.
Had the French Dip, French onion soup, children's quesadilla, mixed green salad and everything was perfect. The French Dip bun was soft while the meat was tender and the au jus flavorful. I actually didn't try the quesadilla but the child ate piece after piece, foregoing the side of chips that came with it, which is evidence in and of itself that the quesadilla was delicious. Green salad was deliciously tangy and sprinkled with crushed sunflower seeds. The coffee also was aromatic and yummy. The restaurant itself is small, almost like a hole in the wall but cutely decorated, with fresh cut flowers adorning every table. For those of you passing through and wondering if Elko is a safe stop, it is. My party was all Chinese-American, and we felt welcome from the time we walked in until we left. The servers were efficient and friendly.
Great little place. Can definitely tell it's a mom and pop shop. Great friendly service that makes you feel like a regular. Its breakfast menu consists mostly of breakfast sandwiches but they do have pancakes, waffles, and French toast available.
We are driving across the country to relocate back from California to Pa and after a dispiriting night in Winnemuca, we did not have high expectations for finding a decent place to eat lunch. However, we had to stop for gas, and we found ourselves in Elko, which proved to be a lot more charming than we expected. McAdoo's exceeded all of our expectations - the service was warm and friendly and the food was simply outstanding. I had the BTLA on toasted multigrain bread with half salad and potatoes and everything was amazingly delicious - the bacon was cooked perfectly, the avocado was just ripe, and the sandwich was packed with greens. The potatoes had some sort of garlic crumb thing that was highly addictive and the salad was delicious. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich and he said it was the best chicken sandwich of his life and then he got the strawberry cream cheese pie which was incredible. We are sorry that we are not likely to return to Elko but would HIGHLY encourage those driving through to stop here.
The Food was absolutely Amazing!!! The salad dressing was amazing. The service was great; home town feel, and homemade desserts! The ambiance was wonderful inside. We will Be back!!
This is an adorable little place off Main Street. Kylie was our server and she was just so bubbly and informative about the menu. There were three different variations of quiche available with interesting ingredients in all of them. Kylie explained to me that they used leftover items from different dishes to make their quiches, and it was just based on their imagination. I could eat a different quiche there every day and be a happy girl. The pancake were delicious, and I normally don't clean my plate but at this breakfast I did. I wish Elko wasn't such a long drive away or I would go more often.
Homemade pastries and good breakfast. On the pricier side for a small town, but they've got good quality food so you're getting your moneys worth. Not good for large groups. Great service, very kind people there.
High-quality breakfasts. Instead of the more typical "ham and eggs", McAdoo's serves things like a chorizo breakfast burrito, Canadian bacon, egg, and arugula on a roll, or an avocado, sausage, and egg muffin. Fresh squeezed orange juice. Can still get pancakes, French toast, etc...
This was our second time having our breakfast here in McAdoo's Elko. When my husband attend the mining expo every yerat, we always have our brunch here, because the food tasted homemade and the ingredients they used were quality. I ordered the blueberry pancake, just to check if the batter is a premix or from the scratch, and it did not disappoint: the pancake is fluffy and there's no store-bought-pre-mix-pancake after taste. I usually order it's artisan coffee, but this time I chose it's brewed, and it also tasted good. I tried my husband's quiche, and the crust is not thick and overpowering like the other quiche that I tried in other restaurants. Expect a full-packed morning, but it was worth waiting for your seats. The staff were efficient and can handle a busy brunch. The ambiance is inviting and comfortable. I don't find the diners noisy, even though it was full-packed when we came. I will recommend this restaurant when you visit Elko, Nevada!

I love Elko and on this particular trip just came out of the Ruby's after hiking Ruby Dome and chasing around some himalayan snowcock. Needless to say I was a bit tired and craving some food that wasn't dehydrated. We found the place on yelp and headed into town. Both of us, oddly enough, ordered the breakfast burrito with potatoes. We hung out in front of the building until our food was ready, there are some benches and a couple stores to check out right out front. One of the girls that works there brought our food out front and we were off. The burrito was unique and pretty darn tasty. I scarfed it down in a matter of minutes. It all blended together nicely and have a wide complement of flavors. On the other hand, the breakfast potatoes simply blew me away. I'm not a huge fan of breakfast potatoes but these guys were amazing. Perfectly cooked with ample seasoning and thinly sliced cheese on top. I saved some for later in the day and they were still as good as they were in the morning. Do yourself a favor and don't forget to order a dish that has them or a side if your main doesn't come with them. read more

This place is AMAZING. I highly recommend the tri tip dip with side salad. The meat is tender, the bread is excellent, get it with the cheese melted and you won't be sorry. The dip they use is broth from their french onion soup and adds the perfect flavor to the meat. They put a ton of shaved Parmesan on the side salad and the ranch is home made. I wish I lived in Elko so I could go here more often. read more

Suuuuper slow service. We were there for over an hour, talked to a server twice and I walked up to pay. The food wasn't good either. The potatoes were very disappointing, flavorless and boiled instead of crisped? The menu lied about the food. The jalapeño burger said roasted jalapeños but they were straight from a can. Egg croissant was overly toasted, dry and the egg was over cooked. At $20 for a burger and $14 for a sandwich, that is absolutely disappointing. This feels like a place taking advantage of limited options on this route. Also, covid aside, just reduce the seating. It is uncomfortably tight in here, like anytime someone gets up, they're touching you. Wow, I really hated this place - mainly because it feels so tourist trap-ish. Good reviews must be coming from people with a low bar or they were really hungry after hours of a boring drive. Go to Cowboy Joe's next door instead, caffeinate up and get elsewhere **covid update: as of 5/23/21, the staff wasn't wearing masks, tables were -2 ft apart, and 100% capacity. Patrons coming in wore no masks too** read more

Ok breakfast spot found on my way when passing through. Very busy when I got there (Sunday just before noon). But quick turn around and good servers. Tried their 'special' of coconut cream french toast. I'd call it just 'ok'. Decent french toast topped with canned whipped cream and roasted coconut flakes. Also got a side of bacon & eggs to go with it. I'd probably rate it higher (3.5) if it was done with thick real whipped cream, that had both substance and some flavor. read more

The food was pretty good. I wouldn't say oh my God you have to have it like the last 30 reviews I read. But it was very good and we did enjoy it. My husband and I drove quite a distance off the freeway just to try it. The one thing that I found the best was there homemade blue cheese dressing I almost wish I had poured it all over my food, even though the food was good without it. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly not overly she did a great job, taking care of us and recommending. The place was not too crowded. It was small and quaint as I read in many reviews, but it wasn't too crowded. Everything was very enjoyable and we are both very glad we got off the freeway to go there and try it. I recommend everyone does at least once. Next time I plan to stop here again and try that blue cheeseburger. read more

Along I-80.....if you're looking for fresh, very tasty food with fun trendy ambiance in a little downtown area--THIS is your spot! AAA recommended this place with two diamonds (it should be three!) and yelp gave some good reviews--so we stopped. On a Sunday. So glad we did! The service was very good and attentive, and the mimosas were yummy and huge! I tried the Prickly Pear-so good. Not a cheap spot, but right on target for fresh homemade as you order gourmet type meals! Do yourself a favor and stop! read more

We LOVE McAdoo's. The service is ALWAYS stellar, the food is delicious, mimosas are famous (especially the Fallmosa), they have the best coffee...I could go on and on. We eat here almost every weekend, sometimes both Saturday and Sunday. Enjoyed the July 2023 lunch special today, the Black and Blue Salad and added chicken. 10 out of 10 RECOMMEND! read more

Delicious! Cute place. Worth getting off the road for. So much more to Elko than what follows the Hwy. Burger was fresh and full of flavor. I asked for olive oil and balsamic for my salad dressing. Perfect compliment to the salad with nuts and fresh shaved Parmesan. read more

Delicious food: Grilled chicken sandwich with side salad, and tilapia tacos on corn tortillas with country potatoes. Waitress caught the importance of no gluten and that is always great. Iced tea.... but please, do not offer the straws! Less plastic please! Wear a sweater as the place was cool to me, not the employees as they were moving! Cloth napkins..loved them! Glad we took a break from the interstate and ate here! read more

Stopped by on our way to Yellowstone. Great service and super tasty lunch at a reasonable price. They also have a small bar for refreshing mojitos and other drinks. They were out of blueberry, so I tried a strawberry mojito and the roasted turkey sandwich. With definitely stop by again. read more
We stopped in about 10:30am on a Sunday. It was about half full but we had a seat at the counter. It is a pretty small place, about 11 tables with 4 seats at the counter. The interior has a cozy cafe feel and is clean and comfortable. They have a small pastry case with assorted goodies. We both ordered the February special, the cowboy steak melt. It has sirloin steak, fontina cheese, onion aioli, grilled onions and peppers on sourdough. It comes with your choice of side for which my wife chose the French onion soup and I chose the roasted potatoes. Our entrees were delivered a short while later and looked amazing. Everything tasted fabulous. As we sat there the place filled up with a steady stream of customers coming and going. The staff was very friendly and helpful and managed the rush efficiently. read more

Nice friendly staff who were very engaging. Food was good with a smaller specialty menu with a good variety of options. Also, they had no problems meeting special requests and modifying menu items for us. Food came quick and at the right temperature. Will stop here again on our next visit read more
