I love Mazza kitchen. I just moved my business from Maryland to Virginia. I tried Mazza kitchen on my second day in my new neighborhood and what a surprise. Massey has been so nice since the first day i stepped into his establishment. The first thing i ever tried was the butter chicken and it was so good. It was the only thing I ate from there for the first month. Tonight he asked me if i wanted tacos instead. I obliged. Boy, these were the best chicken tacos i ve had in a longgggg time. SO good that i had to write about it. The chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the toppings were generously added but not enough to make my taco eating experience messy lol not that i mind. But the naan was warm and soft and it was just an ahhhhh kind of meal. So with a long night ahead of me at the shop away from my family, Mazza Kitchen is a really nice substitute. Great food truck! Ordered the lamb and chicken combo, which comes with chickpeas, a small salad, and sauces of your choice. The meat was very well done, with chicken soft and tender and lamb nice and crispy. The star of the show was the chickpeas, perhaps the best I've had. I absolutely love the food truck culture at Ballston. Although I have my go-to spots, I was feeling adventurous the other day so I took a stroll to see what other options I had that day. I did yelp reviews on quite a few and stopped by the Mazza Kitchen truck, which is right outside of the Cosi. I perused the menu and .... BAM! He had me at Lamb shank. The dish is called the Kabuli Palao, a special of the week, and wow.... The lamb shank ($10) was tender and super flavorful. The basmati rice was really tasty and cooked just right, not dry or undercooked. On the menu he describes it as " Perhaps the best rice known to mankind..." , which I thought was funny and appreciated the humor. The dish comes with a salad and cooked spinach. The spinach was subtly flavored and I wished it packed a punch like the lamb and rice, but it was good. The ingredients are of higher quality than some of the other food trucks. The owner, seems to take great pride in this dish, always asking how the dish looks after he drizzles the food with their special white and green sauce, which is like a yogurt and jalapeno sauce. The sauces were also delicious. I will be coming back because the food is great but also because they have a rewards program, which I think it is an intelligent move because it creates loyalty. The deal is "Buy 5 meals, get one free". The only downside for me was the wait was a little long, but it was worth the wait. You can also pay for the food with a credit card. I might have missed the sign, but didn't know that until the person after me paid with a credit card. Darn. Overall, great food and I will be back for more. read more

Mazza Kitchen is my number one favorite food truck in Arlington. I've been at least five times now when it's stopped in Rosslyn and it's consistently the best food and best service you could ask for. Such an awesome addition to the Rosslyn food truck scene. The truck is run by a son and, I believe, his mom, and they cook the halal food fresh daily. The menu is limited but I think it's the perfect move because they're truly honing in on the dishes they know are great. I've gotten both the lamb and chicken over rice and love them both. They mix in lettuce, chickpeas, tomatoes, cucumbers, and cilantro, and top it off with a spicy sauce or white yogurt based sauce (or both). I always get both sauces because it's a really, really tasty combo and nice meshing of spiciness and coolness. The owner is so, so nice and friendly. You can tell he really appreciates his customers and loves what he's doing. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place, and recommend any and everyone to try it out if you see it. read more

Tried here few days ago as İ was craving some meat over rice as a lunch. The service was amazing! People who work in this truck were happy and friendly. For the food, İ ordered lamb over rice that came with side salad and chickpeas. The chickpeas had a special spice and salad was very fresh. Although İ wasn't a big fan of the meat as the pieces were thicker than İ expected, the food overall was extremely tasety! One portion was way bigger than what İ could eat for lunch, so the whole box was more than enough for me to have it for both lunch and dinner. They were very generous with the food amount unlike some other places. İ will definetely be back! read more

There's always a wide variety of "chicken over rice" food trucks to choose from, but the flavors between those trucks vary greatly! Some are downright not good, and others are passable. I'd put this place at or near the #1 spot for me--it was amazing today! Chicken and lamb over rice/salad with chickpeas, all drizzled with their white and green (cilantro/jalapeno) sauces made for an outstanding and healthy-ish lunch. And the price was right at $10 even. I used to lament another food truck not showing up in Rosslyn (ahem, Over the Rice), but honestly after today's lunch, I now feel this place is better. read more

THIS IS THE BEST FOOD TRUCK IN BALLSTON! I eat here twice a week, every week. The other 3 days of the week they're in Rosslyn, and I miss them :( 1. Delicious halal food: tender/juicy meat, chickpeas, salad, rice (or just salad and no rice), and yogurt/spicy sauces that are freshly house-made and have the perfect "kick" to them. I'm not an expert, but I do love halal food, and this is one of my all-time favorites. Seems quite authentic to me. 2. Superb value: large portion sizes for dishes between $7-10 (veggie, chicken, lamb, combo, or lamb shank special). You could probably split it into two meals, but it's so good I usually just eat it all. 3. Loyalty program: buy 5, get 1 free -- that's twice as good as almost every other program out there! Most food trucks don't even have a punch card at all. 4. Amazingly nice people: Zafar and his mom Rahila are some of the coolest/sweetest people you'll meet; they are so polite/friendly and will gladly try accommodating you. They started recognizing me after just a couple weeks, and now we're on a first-name basis :D They are true chefs and clearly love their craft and their customers -- go support them, they deserve it. read more

This is one of my favorite food trucks in DC! For under $10, you have your pick of lamb, chicken, or rice over a bed of rice with a side of salad and chickpeas. I've only tried the lamb, but it was incredible. You can add your choice of a spicy sauce or a yogurt-based sauce. This is the real show stopper. I HIGHLY recommend getting both. The flavors of the sauces mixed with the rest of the meat, rice, & salad is incredible. If you tend to avoid spice, you can always ask for a little less of the spicy sauce. He explained what went into the dishes and chatted with us for a bit. We decided to both try to lamb over rice. First off, this portions are enormous! I will miss this truck SO MUCH. I no longer work in Rosslyn but they have the absolute BEST customer service and even when it's hot and lines are long they really do try to accommodate everyone. Hesitant to review because I don't want people to know about this place but every week when I go the line is longer and longer so the secret must be out. Everything on their menu is incredible. I've had lunch from Mazza twice now, and have been wowed both times. The first time, I had their chicken over rice, which was delicious and flavorful. The second time, I had the lamb shank special that is offered once or twice per week, called Kabuli Palao and honestly, I was blown away by the flavor. Not only was it just about the most delicious meal I've ever had from a food truck, but it was amongst the most delicious meals I've ever had, period. I pierced a piece of lamb with my flimsy plastic fork and it split in two, it was that tender. The rice was amazing and just packed with flavor. Run, do not walk, to Mazza. Do yourself a favor and make sure you go on one of the days when they have the Kabuli Palao. Service was friendly and excellent, too! read more

DELICIOUS FOOD! I had the lamb over rice with salad. The meat is seasoned and cooked to perfection. The sauces (white and green) are both delicious. The green sauce adds just the right amount of heat. The chickpeas are lovely as well. Prices are great and they give you a punch card that only has to be punched 5 times to get a free meal!
