Do not have any machining done by them it is sub contracted. Had rx8 service cuts done so far out of spec needed 2.5 apex seals yes he 2.5. Jeff says good luck with goopy 2.5s, you left me with no choice. Expensive mod, sub contracted East Coast (ya shipping time) and balancing sheared a section of a brand new trigger wheel. When did customer service go down the drain with these guys? In a recent order all I got was a bad attitude and told to order online instead of over the phone. Even on orders before that; the phone calls are answered with a *sigh* like "what do you want." They act as if they are doing you a favor even though you're about to drop hundreds of dollars with them on parts. They are convenient for everything Rotary but will be finding their clientele going elsewhere as time passes. Total shame as this is the first shop I would think of for any rotary related parts. read more

Buyers beware. They won't accept returns if they don't want to and you have no recourse. I have been purchasing products solely from mazdatrix for two years, which is when I purchased my FC. I had nothing but positive things to say about them until now. Recently I purchased a set of racing beat springs for my 1988 Rx7 Coupe (9/13/18). I have had them installed less than 10 days (9/28/18) and have had tire rubbing on my fender when making sharp turns. I called to ask if I could come by to make a return and was told they wouldn't accept it. I was told that my car was the issue because my wheels were at the wrong offset, even though those are the wheels i bought the car with. I informed him that using the stock springs I had no issue with rubbing and that it was only the springs causing the issue and that I wanted to return them. He repeated that he wouldn't take it back since they were installed on the car. How was I to know it would cause an issue unless they were installed? Apparently that is a personal problem and he has nothing to do with it. So by his logic a stock is correct. Unless I have non-stock wheels which is incorrect. Even though with stock springs plus the wheels my car is fine... Apparently the product he sold me and everything else I have would have to fit around that product. This is just a sad way to run a business. Mazdatrix used to be a respectable company that people could rely on. Maybe it's the age of the cars and declining numbers but they have gone downhill. They lost their service department and now they won't accept returns. Not sure if money is tight but this is no way to treat a customer. Also the receipt says they do not accept returns for "any electrical or special order items" there is even a 20% restocking fee for returns which means they would take 20% of your refund, which I would be fine with. Anything Mazda and Rotary, street or racing, this is THE shop. And they've been THE shop for 30 years. As for Eric A's review, all I can say is that I hope that, 7 years later, you're feeling better. Jeez. And I truly hope your customers aren't really just one curt word away from becoming crazed, violent felons. Most of us who deal with specialty shops like this understand full well that is not a trip to Pep Boys. There is not a staff of 100 or 20 or 10 or 5 (or sometimes even 2) at most of these places. They are businesses that typically have their roots in passion: ex-racers, ex-race mechanics who started a automotive specialty business, so had to transform themselves into entrepreneurs. Not an easy thing to do. And let's define the concept of "specialty" - it means not only very specific expertise, but also a business that caters to a very specific clientele. And most of these shops have to work very hard for every dollar of profit. And again, most of us who deal with specialty shops also know that they simply don't have a lot of time to give advice on the phone. My suggested approach with shops like this is to be very respectful from word #1 (and if your attitude is that you're the one with the money so you're the boss, then I would suggest you get out of any pastime that requires dealing with specialty shops). First off, ask if they have time right now to talk and if not, when (and if). Also ask if communicating via email is preferable (it allows them to respond when they have a slice of open time, and also probably with a better understanding your issue via your written-out question). And if they DO say it's ok to email, don't then try to create a back-and-forth dialogue worthy of a Steven King novel (this is the main reason why a lot of these guys DON'T allow for email with their customers). I've dealt with Mazdatrix on a frequent basis for years, and it perhaps helps that I'm local and get to ask my questions in person. But they're good people who remain devoted to the Mazda rotary scene across the world. (And yes, I would certainly not describe the ex-SCCA racing champ and MT guru Dave Lemon as someone who's in a constant state of glee with rainbows flying out his rear, but get over yourself...) Hell, I used to deal with an old codger welder who sicced his dog on me because I entered the wrong door in his building! He knew I was a customer, he just had this quirk about which door you use - and the doors were right next to each other! I told friends about this and they were like, "you never use the west door, you idiot." And Eric A. took his business elsewhere because of a little grumpiness. Show some stick, mate! i've know and shopped at this place for over 10 years. These guys have been in the rotary business for a LONG time and they know wut they're talking about. They have parts for any rotary powered cars and then some. If u have anything rotary u need to visit this place. Service is great and the staff are very knowledgable. I called in to order over $770.00 worth of parts for my 1995 Mazda RX7. The owner's wife Robi took my order on the phone and charged my Am/Ex card for the purchase. I told her that I was going to have my employee to drive over to pick up the parts and she said no problem. After an hour of drive to their location he was told that they couldn't release the parts to him and the parts had to be shipped to my address at an extra charge. Both Dave the owner and Jeff the manager blamed Robi that she didn't know the rules and they were not apologetic at all for their mistake. I asked him to at least cover the cost of the shipping and Jeff sarcastically said absolutely not as if they didn't care that we had to drive over an hour each way and come back empty handed because of their mistake. I will purchase these parts from elsewhere for more money and wouldn't do business with a establishment that treats his customer so rudely. read more

I own six 1stGen RX7s (4 of them GSL-SEs) & have purchases $1000s worth of parts from this shop in '93~'95. Part sources were less common then. I'm very experienced with these cars & Wankel engines. Parts & expertise is one thing they do have. Too bad this seems to have gone to their head & have a general sense that people who call them are generally annoying. Today I called the first time in over a decade to maybe gain some insight into what I think is a unique situation with one of my . The guy gave me no benefit of doubt, asked me no questions, & pigeon-holed me into 'just another idiot calling'. They could do so much better by just HOW they interact with customers. Why not try "Maybe look at this thing?" vs. "You must have made a mistake." Both give advice - the 1st is helpful, the 2nd being an a**hole. I'm not an idiot & won't be bothering them again. I design & sell expensive equipment to heavy-industry. If I spoke to my customers like they did to me I'd be out of biz or in hospital with broken-jaw. Lucky for Mazdatrix rotary engines are unique & rare that allows them to pull this attitude. I'm not angry - just done with them. i thought that I had found a gold mine with these guys! In a sense I did since they have quiet an inventory; however, their attitude sucks! I've spent over $400 dollars with them for my 1983 RX7 in the last couple of months and their attitude towards me is as if I'm bugging them when I go over there for parts!
