An awesome new Middle Eastern restaurant; a welcome experience on this end of West Ashley. My pita was totally different than expected and for the better! It was a packed pocket with a side of fries. They have a small selection of exotic sodas and drinks as well. The ordering location is kind of weird. The restaurant gives off a table service vibe, but it's a buzzer and pickup at the cooking location kind of deal. Regardless, it wasn't a big hinderance to my experience. The staff was very welcoming and came to our table to ask if we enjoyed our food. Everything was worth it. Definitely check it out.

The food was very good and fresh, but it was overpriced. I like the seating area and it is definitely on the nice end of counter service. But you are paying sit down prices for counter service.

I happened upon this business on my recent visit to Charleston. It was fairly random that I ended up eating here, and now it is a place I would go out of my way to try again and again. The prices were a little higher than I anticipated, however, the flavor and authenticity of the food is worth every penny. We ordered the humus (classic), falafel on a pita, and seasoned fries. This food was shared among three people and we all left feeling full. You order your food at the register, and then you can specify what toppings you want in your entree. I told the person behind the counter I was vegan. He said he was vegan as well and took care of filling my falafel with all the best plant-based toppings. I took my first bite of falafel and felt transported back to Israel. I have not had falafel this authentic in the US till now. I almost shed a tear as the last time I had a falafel pita like what Mazal served was when my dad was alive in 2013. It is amazing the power food has, and each bite of my food at Mazal made me feel like my dad was with me again. For specifics on the quality of Mazal's falafel, it is light, airy, and delicate. It tastes like you are biting into a cloud. There is no grittiness, there is no tough exterior, and it is not dense. The interior is a yellow-green color while the outside is a golden brown. It does not crumble to pieces. It holds its form as you take each delectable bite. The hummus, again, was exactly like what I ate in Israel. It was thick and creamy. You could taste that they use high quality tahini and there again was no grittiness. I loved the chickpeas and olive oil on top. This is something that is commonly prepared in Israel yet so hard to find in the states. I literally licked the hummus bowl clean. Finally, the fries were very nicely seasoned while not going overboard. My picky 2-year-old enjoyed the fries which says a lot! The atmosphere at Mazal is also something to note. I love how spaced out the tables are. I could eat there with my sometimes loud 2-year-old without disturbing other customers. I could also see this being a good spot for a date night or catching up with friends as each table offered a lot of privacy. For those bringing kids, I also want to note there was a changing table in the bathroom which held the weight of my toddler easily. I truly thank the owners and chef at Mazal for an unforgettable experience. I wish this business much luck and hope to visit them again on my next trip to Charleston.

Had to check out this place after seeing all the posts & reels on FaceBook. Definitely worth the visit. I love their Doner kebab style set up where you choose what you would like in your pita. You will leave with a circus in your mouth. Top notch service too. Highly recommend.

They really transformed the feel of this building in the best way. Very friendly staff. Had the roasted cauliflower which was simple and delicious. Also ordered smash kebab bowl. The meat is yum and various fresh topping all tasty. Love the lemon sauce! Wish the fries were crispier but overall a great experience. Will be back to try other things. Wishing them the best!

Really enjoyed my falafel pita today at Mazal. It was fantasticly delicious and very filling. Only $13 seems like a very decent price for such a great meal. I'll definitely be coming back to try more! Welcome to Charleston! mazel tov!! I give Mazal 10 out of 10 hearts!

I couldn't wait for the picture but THIS IS AMAZING! Smash kebab bowl with everything and falafel plate.

They were very helpful with my questions concerning my gluten allergy. They were able to confirm what was gluten free but it is also clearly marked on the menu. The food was fresh and amazing. The hummus is homemade. I had chicken Lula and it was really well seasoned and some of the best I've ever tasted. The only downside was the price. It was quite pricy for a lunch but with that being said, I would still return for more of their food. I just wish I could have tried more of it.

What really separates these falafels is the robust range of spices and complex flavor into the traditional falafel, texture and flavors. The falafel appetizer platter came with four pieces and they were basically gone as soon as they arrived to the table as our entire family ate immediately. Including our pickiest eating family member, who enjoyed theirs too! Exceptional! The halloumi is fantastic and cooked perfectly. It had a nice seasoning on top of it which differentiated it from others I have had before. Everyone at our table enjoyed it. It came with four pieces. The grape leaves were a delight. They had a more robust complex flavor palette than Greek style grape leaves. They were served warm, however they were not dried out like sometimes grape leaves are when they're brought to a table warm. These were beautifully seasoned and had nice moisture to them. The size of each was about that of a ring finger. I can not remember hot many pieces were on the plate but it was more than 4. We ordered the chefs hummus with the pine nuts and pomegranate seeds. It was delicious and a great texture. Pretty much par for the course. My entrée was the Mujadra lentil and rice dish. The flavors were absolutely phenomenal. At first, I was thinking about getting the lentil soup for lunch, but then decided to try under the vegetarian section of the menu the lentil plate. The lentils and rice were placed in a circle mold on the plate. With pretty pieces of salad coming out from four different places. There were pine nuts, chopped, and placed a top of the rice and lentils. Everyone at the table tried my dish and even though we all four have very different favorite flavors and foods everyone agreed it tasted phenomenal and was absolutely delicious. Another family member ordered the lentil soup. They really enjoyed that and they also took some rice off of their spouse's plate and put it in the lentil soup which was a nice pairing. Spouse had the beef kebab cooked, medium rare. The temperature on the kebab for cooking was absolutely perfect! The texture pinkness, and overall cooking was beautifully done to a true medium rare. He had french fries as his side those were just as perfectly cooked as everything else that came out of the kitchen of this restaurant. They were nice and crisp with a good flavor. Three of our four family members tried and agreed they were very nicely done fries crispy all around and not floppy soft. Another family member ordered the Shish Tawook. They were completely in love and smitten with the garlic sauce that came with it. It is divine and tastes beautiful on the chicken. Rice was beautifully cooked as well. The accompaniments of lettuce, pita and oil was delicious. Dessert was baklava. Like every other part of the meal, we had it had a really nice blend of spices and flavor to it. We got it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All of the desserts on the menu are made in house. One of our family members doesn't tend to like homemade ice cream however she liked this ice cream because she thought the texture was really brilliant for it being made in house at a restaurant. The baklava comes with three pieces. I would love for them to open a restaurant near where we live. If we lived here we would come in 2-3 times a week. Near the end of our meal, we heard some of the restaurant team speaking with another table of regulars. We overheard that they were short staffed that day as someone had called in. We never absolutely would not have guessed that. They seamlessly checked on our table, brought everything out in a timely manner, and none of the plates were hot like they had been sitting at expo waiting to come out to the table for a while. It was wonderful hospitality, with great care and checking in. Our server was a sweet and attentive person. Simply removing plates as we finished and refilling drinks. No one at our table was in want or need of anything as he kept it all well filled. I think the biggest compliment I can give is one family member always has room for dessert. They loved their meal in the appetizer so much they could not have any dessert. Which coming from them a huge dessert person is quite the praise.

While we were out walking on King Street, a local recommended Stella's, and I'm so glad they did. We walked over from our Airbnb and immediately loved the space. The restaurant has two U-shaped bars in the center, which is my husband and my favorite place to sit when dining out. We went in with zero expectations and hadn't even looked at the menu beforehand, but everything ended up being incredible. The drinks were fantastic, and our bartender/server was so sweet. Even though we were one of the last couples seated that evening, we never felt rushed and were able to enjoy the meal at our own pace. We ordered the non-breaded calamari and a shrimp dish, and the calamari was honestly the best I've ever had. It was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and the artichokes that came with it were so delicious. Every bite made me happy. We finished with the tiramisu, which our bartender recommended, and it was absolutely outstanding--easily the best tiramisu I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about this meal and would come back in a heartbeat the next time I'm in Charleston.

We were surprised when we walked in and the bar was actually low, with low, spinny bar seats. But it actually was pretty unique and fun! Our server was excellent and gave us great recommendations. We started with the Stella's Kalamari that had sun-dried tomatoes, capers, and artichoke hearts. It was very flavorful and delicious. Something to keep in mind here is that the portions are pretty large. Perfect for splitting dishes and a lot of food for your buck. The stand out dish for me was the spanakopita. It's a flaky, crispy pastry with spinach and feta inside that you dip in tzatziki. What's not to love about all of that?? We splurged a bit on our entree and split the braised lamb shank. The lamb itself was pretty good, but what I enjoyed most was the pasta it comes with. I would maybe suggest trying a different entree. It wasn't my favorite, but it was good. For drinks I got the Cretan, which had cucumber infused gin, lime, rosemary and thyme. It was so refreshing and just what I wanted. I will definitely be coming back here and recommending it to others!

It is also a wrap, not a pita. I love pita, but it is neat that they serve wraps too, since most places don't. Others in my friend group ordered rice bowls, which was a really large portion for your money, and one friend's gyro looked solid. One of my friends is gluten free, and if you are, you'll find lots of options here. The same goes if you're vegetarian. Everyone was able to find something here with no arguments, which is always nice with a group. The prices seem a little expensive for what you get; at least I thought so with my wrap. Rice bowls seem like a better portion for the money. I would come back again with friends, but I would try something else next time.
