Yesterday, I just happen to pass by the food truck and I instantly got the craving to stop for some more lamb over fries at about midnight. My son had a wrap and loved it. I didn't realize my Ubereats order was a food truck, so it gets an extra star because this lamb pita got hubby's rave review, and a great gyro is hard to find. The only semi-decent one we've found prior puts French fries in it, which really kind of ruins it. This one is perfection! Flavorful and fully loaded, this is the gem. The dips were disappointing. Perhaps this is the genuine authentic stuff and I am ruined by imitations, but I found the eggplant in the baba ganoush very bitter and otherwise very bland. The hummus was smooth but again, not very flavorful. Both were drowned in olive oil, which was fine. The pita bread was warm and soft and oddly sweet, which helped cut the bitterness of the baba ganoush. The dips did have fresh ingredients and I feel healthy eating them. They really only deserve 4 stars but I want this gyro to stay around! Will eat again, but not the dips. read more

Exactly what you need when you want a filling meal that tastes good, and doesn't leave you feeling gross. I stumbled upon Sam's Kitchen late on Saturday night. Realizing that I didn't have the energy to cook, I browsed through Uber Eats looking for something other than burgers and fried chicken. The Lamb Over Basmati Rice dish was excellent. I was staying at a hotel just down the street from Sam's Kitchen and I was hungry around 11pm after a long drive three hour drive from Charlotte, NC. There aren't many reviews on Yelp for this spot, but I took a chance anyway because I didn't want to drive too far from where I was staying. I ordered the loaded lamb fries and took it back to my hotel. I was concerned the fries would get soggy since there wasn't any opening or vent on the takeout container and I was out for a bit getting gas before returning to my hotel. The fries managed to stay crispy and the overall dish was hot and tasty. I'm so glad stumbled upon this place and gave them a try. Good portion, great tasting food and reasonable prices. read more

I'm from California I'm I'm used to the rice being plain at Mediterranean restaurants. The rice is well seasoned as well as the chicken! The hummus was great too! A few months ago, Sam's Halal Kitchen popped up on Savannah Hwy, between Dupont and Wappoo Rd. It's open late, and my husband and I noticed it on nighttime drives from downtown Charleston. As lovers of Middle Eastern food, we checked it out on a chilly Saturday afternoon. I had a Falafel Veggie Pita ($10.99), and my husband chose a Lamb and Chicken Pita ($10.99). We also had an order of fries to share ($3.99) and hummus with pita ($7.99). Sam's Kitchen is a food truck and the location has no seating, so you'll have to take your food to go. Thankfully, our order traveled well and was correct (and still warm!) when we arrived home. Both sandwiches were heavy, and his was stuffed with meat while mine had four large falafels. The sandwiches here don't contain fries like some gyros, but the side of fries we ordered was plenty to share- they were hot and seasoned well. The garlic aioli goes well on the sandwiches. The hummus was delicious, but could use more pita bread- an order of hummus comes with five triangles of pita. We put some of the hummus inside our sandwiches and will eat the rest with chips. Sam's Kitchen participates in delivery/pick up apps like GrubHub and UberEats. Parking is also easy and plentiful, and we'll certainly be back. read more

We have passed by this food truck so many times, so tonight we decided t to not pass by but to give it a try. Glad we did! I ordered a green salad and a lamb gyro. The salad was huge and fresh. The gyro was packed with tender lamb. The tzatziki sauce was amazing. We tried the baba ghanoush, which was served with warm pita bread. LATE NIGHT HEAVEN (open until midnight on weekdays, and 2am on weekends) Sam's is amazing. This food truck is pretty much a one man operation, with the owner Sami being there 7 days a week. What a hard worker and nice guy to boot! Charleston is notoriously difficult to find late night dining options, with many establishments closing their kitchens at 8pm, 8:30, or 9pm. I often find myself getting hungry at these hours, and shudder to think that my only options would be Taco Bell or Wendy's. What a savior discovering this West Ashley food truck! Fairly traditional middle eastern fare is served up, with Kebabs, Shwarma, Gyro, Hummus, Salad, French Fries, etc. making up the menu. The quality is excellent for late night dining -- much better than fast food. Overall, I'm a fan. Highly recommend! read more

The way he cooks his lamb and chicken is so meticulous, you can taste the difference. It's true middle eastern cuisine with a little flare of Sam's expertise. While visiting Charleston, SC, this food truck was actually recommended to us by a restaurant we only used the bathroom for while on a ghost tour. They wouldn't be opened when we were finished and said that he is parked on the side of the road and has late night hours. Apparently, the locals know about it. The food was excellent. I am from NC and was looking for some comfort food after being in training for work all day and then getting some sad family news, I wanted to eat my feelings! I don't think I could have chosen a better place than Sam's kitchen! It was so good! If you love kebabs I suggest the chicken kebab over basmati rice (no need to get extra rice like I did because they give you a lot in the platter) and it came with a side salad and I am usually a "ranch dressing only" person but I gave the dressing they supplied and it was probably the best side salad I have had in a long time. I liked it so much I tried scooping what was left onto the rice I had left! I am still eating but had to make the review because YUMMM! And they are open late also?? My husband and I found this food truck recently in West Ashley. We had been looking for Halal outside downtown for some time now. This place HIT THE SPOT! Sam's Kitchen has some of the best Middle Eastern food in Charleston--and I might know, I'm Egyptian! We ordered the chicken shawarma and the beef shawarma plates. Delicious! We would definitely recommend getting extra garlic and spicy sauce (which is wonderfully spicy--a little goes a long way!). We'll definitely be going back regularly! read more
