While visiting the low country, I was on the lookout for seafood and I found it at Charleston Crab…read moreHouse! The carb house is located off Folly Road and sits next to Wappoo Creek. There is plenty of parking, indoor seating, and even outdoor deck seating. My table on the deck had a beautiful view of Wappoo Creek. We even got to watch the drawbridge go up for a passing boat! Now to the good part, the food! My table ordered hushpuppies as an appetizer and they are DELICIOUS! We ordered sea scallops and grilled redfish entree. Both were full of flavor. The biggest stand out? The Carolina grits! What a wonderful spot for seafood with a scenic vibe! I'll be back!

Great hospitality from the host -- truly the highlight of the experience…read more Unfortunately, the food didn't match. The waitress was just okay, but the bigger issue was the quality of the dishes. We ordered calamari, fried green tomatoes, and mussels everything tasted like standard frozen, pre-prepared food. The mussels were the best of the group, mainly because of the sauce, which had decent flavor. For entrées, the redfish was overcooked and covered in a heavy sauce with no clear flavor. The fried flounder had almost no seasoning which is surprising for fried fish. The cheese grits were disappointing, with cheese that wasn't even fully melted, and the collard greens were overly heavy with pork fat. Drinks were watered down. Overall, aside from the welcoming host, the experience fell flat. I'd skip this one.

What an amazing lunch! We started with the rolls and honey butter. I had the prime rib sandwich…read morewith potato puree, and my wife had the fresh catch. Our daughter (3) had the buttered noodles. For me, the prime rib was seasoned perfectly, and the horseradish was perfectly done, not overpowering but complementary to the flavor. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection! We finished off with the peach cobbler for dessert, and you've never had a peach cobbler like this; so good! Service was top notch, everything was timed perfectly and the recommendations were on point. The ambiance was really great; classy but relaxed. We love trying new places, but with a 3y and 6mo old, we are always a bit nervous how they will be received. The staff here were so kind. From the moment we walked through the door, we felt we belonged. One special mention, Melanie took time to stop by our table and engage us and our daughter in conversation (she's normally really shy). It was clear Melanie is sincere and really cares for people. Within a minute, our daughter was sharing all the things we've done and seen and was chatting away. This transformed the lunch into a true experience! Thank you for an amazing farewell lunch, we can't wait until we return!

This was our visit to The James for my husband's birthday while we were in Folly Beach!…read more We visit the area quite often, but somehow had never heard of this place. I happened upon it on my Resy app while looking for somewhere to celebrate, and I'm so glad I did! The restaurant is located in a small strip shopping center, but once you step inside, you would never know it. It has a great atmosphere, beautiful décor, and a really nice vibe. We started with the crispy calamari, which came with a delicious chili-lime sauce. My husband isn't a big fan of a lot of sauce, so we ordered it on the side. That worked out perfectly because I could enjoy plenty of the sauce while he enjoyed his calamari without it being covered. I had the Angels Oak Cab/Malbec blend, which was a smooth, rich wine. For my entrée, I chose the prime rib melt. The meat was tender and flavorful, and I opted to pay the upcharge for the mac and cheese as my side. It was good, although it was a little different from the traditional Southern-style mac and cheese you typically find around here. My husband had the fish and chips, and surprisingly, they were delicious! The fish was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh. For dessert, we shared the key lime pie, and it was delicious! It had just the right amount of tartness, which I absolutely love. ‍ We are so excited to have discovered this little gem and definitely plan to visit again. Sometimes you just have to let Resy lead the way! Thanks, Resy, for helping us find our new favorite spot!
