Delicious! If they're in your area, definitely worth trying. Pictured - Connecticut Roll

Recently, &Lobster "rolled into" to my neighborhood. Their truck makes the rounds in the Charleston area, so whether you're in Mt. Pleasant, Summerville, or in between, you'll find it at a neighborhood, brewery, or wine bar near you. &Lobster (And Lobster) accepts walkups, but prefers pre-orders. Preorders open on the day of service, and I placed my order around 4:30 PM for a 5:45 PM pick up. The rustic, authentic, wooden design feels fancier than a food truck, and my order was ready at the promised time. I had the Connecticut roll with a side of peanut ginger slaw. The bread was buttery and didn't fall apart, and the lobster itself was flavorful, seasoned, and plentiful. Every bite of my roll was full of lobster, and I was sad to finish that last bite. The peanut ginger slaw was similar to a traditional coleslaw, but not as sweet and with hints of peanut toward the end. &Lobster prices are based on market price, which changes based on supply and demand. However, I received an excellent value for what I paid ($22). Not only does the roll include a side dish, but I got a high-quality food item and supported a local business. Plus, I didn't have to leave my neighborhood and deal with traffic! It can be tough to fork over a bit more cash for dinner, especially from a food truck. However, I don't mind paying for quality and highly recommend splurging on this truck. I hope &Lobster continues to visit during the summer food truck season. I love Connecticut style (warm) rolls, and I want to try the orzo pasta side dish next time. The truck also offers a salad if you're counting carbs or a quesadilla if you're not feeling a roll, and crab if you don't want lobster.

    Menu board...limited for a reason.

First "Food Truck Friday" in my neighborhood and these folks rolled up (pun intended) in their little cabin on wheels pushing out Lobster rolls, salads and quesadillas with a furry! I'm guessing the whole neighborhood was craving the luscious crustacean tonight because they were flocking in like hungry seagulls. I chose the original New England Roll and I was not disappointed! Sweet lobster tail and claw meat mixed with some mayonnaise, salt & pepper, and what may be a little (very little) celery. Coupled up with some Orzo and Goat Cheese pasta salad and it really hit the spot. I preordered so my food was ready within 5 mins of my appointed time. Easy, tasty and a friendly crew on this towed boat. If you have a chance, find them and enjoy. Just know that there are no prices on that Menu Board for a reason...$22 for a roll and pasta salad might scare off the crowds. BE FEARLESS, you won't regret it.

One of the things we miss from our days of living in Maine is the easy availability of getting great lobsters. It cannot be overstated how good the lobsters and the lobster rolls are there. Today we had the great pleasure of having &Lobster bring their truck to Daniel Island and our complex. Great fresh lobster rolls and salads from Maine a taste of home at our new home in South Carolina. Great people serving up fresh lobster prepared just the way we remembered. We will be following &Lobster around Charleston in the future. We'll be seeing them soon at the Charleston Food Truck Festival next weekend. He great

This is our first time trying this food truck! Y'all its phenomenal! The lobster is great but having it paired with the super soft buttery roll makes it even better! The quesadilla is great too, but the lobster roll is my favorite by far!

What a disappointment! The lobster was old, stringy and tasteless. For $25.00 one would hope for real butter.

Soft shell crab! Mother's Day really was my day. Marianne was our very nice server and when she said the special of the day, I was crazy excited. Boy did they live up to expectations. Quite large ( and you got 2 shockingly) with the crispiest and very flavorful crust, then to bite into huge chunks of perfectly cooked crab. Heaven! The dish also came with mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked asparagus with a lovely sauce on the bottom of the plate.,I am critical of every asparagus I've had in a restaurant. Not these. I also had their famous crab cakes with buerre blanc sauce. I held myself back from licking that plate! What a Mama's day I had!!!

We started with the shrimp cocktail and crab cakes. My husband and I shared the fried seafood platter for our entree, and it had grouper, flounder, and shrimp. Everything was really good, including the hushpuppies and fries. The desserts are small, so our table ordered three different ones- key lime pie, chocolate peanut parfait, and cheesecake. By far the best one was the chocolate peanut parfait. The dress code here says business casual, but you will see people dressed all sorts of ways. The restaurant and staff present as elegant, so I think most people would feel comfortable if they stuck with business casual attire.

Other than positive... 1) two of us ordered the Mediterranean shrimp pasta (I think that's what it was called). The shrimp was not cooked through on both of our dishes. Not slightly under - REALLY under. A TAD pink but mostly still gray. the pasta was only slightly warm too - just a lose lose. 2) The she crab soup was NOT good. 3) Grouper po boy. The Positive is that the grouper was decent however it was impossible to eat. Bun piled w/things. Seems like a good problem but not fun to try to eat as a handheld. 4) Music - Dean Martin and so forth being played in the dining room - great. Good vibe. For some reason that stopped and all we could hear was Tool being played loudly in the kitchen. The door to the kitchen was open and what I can only assume were managers were sitting on their computers at a high top right by us (I say that bc they went in and out of the kitchen and one was in chef like clothes). Why they didn't shut it down is beyond me. Overall disappointed.

The food is somewhat bland (out of 4 of us, one actually liked their meal while the rest of us were underwhelmed). Pros: location, easy to get seated, prices are decent (for DT Charleston) wait staff was good, drinks were good. Cons: primarily the food was bland. The host station was not running at its best either. We had a reservation and they told us they were "working on our table," and we should wait "under the stairs." Apparently "under the stairs" is also where they store napkins and supplies. We looked to our right and saw 3 empty and clean tables. After about 5 minutes of standing under the stairs, they sat us at one of those tables, which had not required any extra "getting ready." Just didn't sit well ( or stand well) with me.

Honestly, I make Creole / bbq shrimp at home and they're always MUCH better than what I got at The Darling. The service (with the exception of the lousy recommendation) was decent enough. If I ever go back, I'll probably stick with oysters on the half shell. (Sorry no pic. I actually took one that day, but subsequently deleted it because it was so bad.)

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.

First we were told to grab a seat anywhere so we sat at the oyster shucking station. The man shucking oysters (forgot his name, sorry!) was super kind and very knowledgeable and got our oysters ready in no time. I ordered 6 raw oysters and my bf got 6 oysters steamed. Due to a small mixup in the kitchen, my bf's steamed oysters came out a bit late, however they were delicious according to him. My raw ones were fresh and sooooo yummy. It was also happy hour so each oyster was only $1.50. Best price in the area!!! We grabbed some other happy hour menu items: hushpuppies, peel and eat steamed shrimp, steamed clams, and we ordered a side snow crab cluster not on happy hour. Everything was DELICIOUS. We walked out of there feeling good about the money we spent and we now have a place to go to every time we are in town. The ONLY downside was our waiter. He's lucky I forgot his name because he was awful and had the personality of a doorknob. I almost wanted to speak to the manager about him because he brought the vibe down. Horrible customer service, doesn't know how to be professional, and even when I waved goodbye saying thank you with a huge smile he just stared at me and didn't say anything. Overall I had a pleasant experience, which may not be reflected in the amount of stars I'm giving them. If I could do a 3.5 I would. The food was the highlight of my experience. We got the pimento cheese balls to start, which were absolutely delicious. Then I got the shrimp mac and cheese, which was also pretty good. Nothing to write home about. My drink was pretty bad, which I partially blame myself for just for ordering poorly. It tasted like tequila and red dye 40 in a martini glass. It was also lukewarm when I got it. If I'm paying around $15 for a drink, it needs to be good. As you can kinda tell by the picture, the lights in the restaurant were ON. Which isn't really a problem, but it doesn't really make for a cool ambiance.
