We first tried pineapple hut at Folly beach, and when we realized they also had a place in downtown Charleston (a bit closer for us), we knew we'd visit often. The pineapple dessert is the most refreshing ice cream style dessert we have ever had. It is so refreshing on a warm summer day. I personally prefer the whip with the pineapple chunks, but every option is amazingly delicious. This is a small trailer tucked away near the farmer's market area. Service is quick, deepening on the size of the line. It moves fast and is totally worth the wait. read more

Soooooo good!! We were walking around king street and saw this couple with half a pineapple and a huge swirl of dole whip and we were like we HAVE to get that!! We had no clue where it was from but somehow randomly ran into the store walking back from the market. And boy were we happy we did! It hit the spot!! 10/10 this place is so yummy and honestly was reasonable price wise. Really wish they had a location in California where I live. read more

YUM. I was so impressed with this little food truck. The young lady working was so polite and friendly and delivered quick service. Only a block from the beach and located in a cute little area with a few other food trucks. We visited in May, so we were the only ones in line but I can imagine this place gets BUSY in the summer. I read a really good review on the pineapple hut in a magazine and so I wanted to try it when we got to Charleston. I'm so glad that I did! The flavor was absolutely fantastic, so tasty and so fresh without being overly sweet! I thought the prices were extremely fair for the amount of ice cream given! I absolutely loved it. The Pineapple Hut has the best ice cream I have ever had in my entire life. As someone with medical issues who also has to live dairy free, finding desserts that I can actually enjoy without pain, discomfort, or guilt has always been incredibly difficult. This was the first time in my life that I was able to enjoy something sweet completely guilt free, and it honestly meant more to me than I can put into words. Not only was it absolutely delicious, but it gave me the chance to enjoy a treat that so many people take for granted. What made the experience even more special was Regan V., who helped me during my visit. She was the absolute sweetest person I encountered in all of Charleston. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine care made an already amazing experience unforgettable. I will recommend The Pineapple Hut everywhere I go. I'm in loveeeee! The quality, flavor, customer service, and overall experience are unmatched. I would gladly drive four hours one way just to come back again. If you're considering stopping by, do yourself a favor and go!!! you won't regret it! I went twice before I left lol read more

I have been trying to make a stop at pineapple Hutt for the past couple years and I may be mistaken but I believe it used to have limited hours and was food truck so I was excited to see expanded hours and location! I definitely wasn't expecting it to be where it was but it's on the street running parallel to the city market. The line was long and the credit card machine was down so I had to get cash. However, the time I returned, it was up and running. I went with the peach and pineapple and it was good- peach tasted more on the artificial flavor but at least it's low calorie healthier choice! It is dairy free, vegan, gluten free, low calorie but honestly I'd have to say it looks better than it tastes. It's ice cream but it's not creamy- more so tastes like an icee but regardless, was refreshing and glad I finally had a chance to try it! read more

I love pineapple so much that I came here twice during my visit to Charleston (in case you were wondering, yes, I was definitely the weird kid who liked pineapples on my pizza--and still do)! I was already sold on the pineapple whip alone but if you want to take it up a notice and upgrade, the Pineapple Float and Paradise Whip (basically a pineapple float IN a pineapple) will win you over either way. I couldn't bring myself to get the Paradise Whip since it comes in a huge portion, but I so would if I didn't come on a nearly full stomach on both occasions. There aren't a lot of non-dairy or lighter ice cream options nearby so this is the perfect refreshing treat if you need a lighter pick-me-up. It's a great spot with plenty of seating outside of a food hall in a super busy area to chill out. This town has many by-the-scoop ice cream shops but this is a great choice if you ever want something different! read more

If you are visiting Folly Beach, SC, this is the place to get a nice ice cream dessert! My husband and I stopped by while we were walking around the small downtown of Folly Beach. It was centrally located & easy to find. Even though 1 person was running the "hut", we were served and ready to go within 5-7 minutes during the afternoon rush. Grabbed a pineapple soft serve here, and it was pretty good. Smooth texture, refreshing flavor, and the price was fair. I just wish it had a bit more tartness to cut through the sweetness. Really fun treat on a hot summer day, I truly appreciated that they had vegan options. Service was quick and when we went there was no line and it was clean and efficient. The only downside is that there is no where to sit. So you literally have a huge delicious treat and you're in the middle of downtown (looking at a shaded, fan cooled seating area next door for paying patrons only that you CANNOT access) and you're kind of stuck.) Still worth it. It's that kind of good. read more

The perfect refreshing snack on a hot day! It's conveniently located in downtown Charleston, close to city market for a quick stop by but I do recommend also grabbing lunch or a drink while enjoying some live music as it's right outside of Port of Call Food and Beer Hall. There's an outdoor sitting area with a bar that had live music on a Saturday afternoon or additional tables inside. There's a few options on the menu with various combos of pineapple goodness and topping options but I opted for the traditional. It's only an extra dollar for the large size and reasonably priced at $6! It was just around the corner from our hotel so we went twice and absolutely loved it! read more

Leaving Folly Beach, we stopped to The Pineapple Hut for a treat on the way home. First time having them, as recommended by one of my friends in the group. I love all things pineapple (except on pizza), so I had to try this. I ordered their Pineapple Float, which has pineapple juice in the bottom, then their pineapple whip on the top of the cup. The whip is a dairy free soft serve. It was very light and not very sweet. Had a straw for the juice, so I tasted that prior to anything melting in it. The juice wasn't cold, which was disappointing. I think cold Pineapple juice would've made it excellent. It was a refreshing dessert. They have a few toppings that you can add yourself. Strawberry syrup, coconut, Tajin, sprinkles, chocolate sauce, & chamoy. read more

Technically, I visited Freddo twice on the recommendation of a server at another Charleston…read morerestaurant. Their locale is small with a few tables and chairs outside, and a bench with two stools inside. The owners have Argentinian roots and sell alfajores, smoothies, frappe's, milk shakes, and gelato. I've tried the passion fruit smoothie and the caramel milk shake. Both were exceptionally good, but definitely on the rich side! Their whip cream is also amazing! A drink here is easily the caloric equivalent of a whole meal! I loved it so much, I've returned. My sister got a dulce de leche frappe and enjoyed it! She thought it was a good mix of coffee and gelato. Bottomline: Freddo is a great place to get a sweet treat on King St! For my regular-size caramel milk shake, I paid about $14.69 (with tax and tip)--definitely not cheap, but a smaller (and cheaper) size is available.

The cake is moist, perfectly sweet, and layered with fluffy coconut frosting. If you've been wanting to try it but don't feel like committing to a full fine-dining experience at Peninsula Grill, this is such a great, more casual way to enjoy it. I paired it with an espresso martini, which paired well with the dessert. I was disappointed that it wasn't served with their famous smoke bubble. The overall experience was just okay. Sitting at the bar was convenient, but the service felt pretty standard and the interior didn't really stand out or add much to the vibe. It's definitely more about the cake than the atmosphere here.

We were craving espresso martinis, and they quickly made a couple for us. Nice touch -- the glasses were chilled, which always makes a difference. That said, we do think the martinis may have been missing the classic foam "bubble" and espresso bean garnish. Honestly though, since they were closing and still accommodated us, we were just grateful they made them at all. If it had been mentioned that they'd be quick, simplified versions due to closing, we would've completely understood -- just something small for expectation-setting. Now let's talk about the coconut cake -- absolutely amazing. It's $17 for a slice, but the portion is HUGE. Easily shareable, and we still had to take some to-go. Super moist, flavorful, and worth every bite if you're a coconut fan. Also worth noting: the outdoor patio is pet-friendly, which is always a big plus for us. Great spot to stop with your pup while enjoying dessert or a cocktail. Overall, a positive experience -- especially thanks to the staff's hospitality at closing time. We'd definitely come back (earlier next time!) to enjoy the full experience.

Luckily, we were able to be seated immediately but it was very close quarters with surrounding tables. The menu is vast with different dessert options. If you want to know what cakes are available, you should check out the display stand right when you enter. Since we were there 2.5 hours before closing, there didn't seem to be a lot of cake options available, but my husband and I decided to share a slice of the s'mores cake with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to make it à la mode. The s'mores cake was a chocolate cake with mini marshmallows, chocolate fudge, graham crackers, and more marshmallows. The cake was good and had everything I could ever want in it, but it was a little dry. I think this also had to do with it being the end of the night. The ice cream complemented the flavor well. It would have been better with a second scoop of ice cream though. Service was great! It took about 10 minutes from when we ordered to get our dessert. I would probably come back here again, but not so late at night so there would be fresher cake with more options available.
