It was interesting to see that each Vampire Penguin location does their menu differently! The Mount Pleasant location offers Açaí Bowls and has expanded their menu just a tiny bit to include matcha, tajin chamoy, and more. We noticed that both of our orders came in a smaller 12 ounce size rather than the larger 16 ounce that we ordered. We brought it up, and the staff apologized and made us an additional 12 ounce each to make up for the mistake. We were super pleased with their customer service, and even more so that we ended up with full tummies of 24 ounces of dessert! We had the Affogato and Twix, and the Affogato was our favorite. It's coffee, chocolate, and vanilla with brownie bits. We also loved that the staff came over to our table to check on us and chatted, which was sweet and personable. The ambience was quiet and clean inside too. Vampire Penguin is our absolute favorite, and they made our Mother's Day eating adventure very special. read more

I went to this location due to the hype about the frozen treats. I was greeted promptly , when I walk in with a smile. The young lady behind the counter could tell that I had never been there before and was. Quick to explain all of the unique deserts available. What can I say about Vampire Penguin?? Just go and enjoy it. It's delicious and lite. There are so many different flavors to choose from. I like to try the specials because you never know when they'll be back. We have had them from the food truck, but I am thrilled for them that they finally got a brick and mortar store. It can be a little difficult to find, just make sure to go to the side of the strip mall facing Chuck Dawley and not Coleman. The staff there are great and very helpful when trying to decide what to have!! They also have very cool merch!! There's a tank I want but they only had smalls in stock. Well let me tell you what it means... it means a delicious, sweet, savory, light dessert that will satisfy your sweet tooth without making you feel full or adding thousands of extra calories. It's a win win. Jerry was ridiculously helpful when we were trying to decide what to get. He walked us through the menu and explained that they can pretty much customize what you want by mixing and matching what they offer. We were also there when they received a phone call from someone asking about gluten free options. Not only do they have gf items, they make sure that the equipment they're using isn't contaminated and understand the seriousness of cross contamination. We will absolutely be back. Definitely delicious and especially cool for beating the heat, this shaved gourmet ice comes in a variety of flavors and I believe they even have some adult beverages too! The desserts here are so unique -- the shaved snow is light, airy, and melts instantly, almost like a cross between ice cream and fresh powdery snow. My husband got the Strawberry Cheesecake which was the highlight of the visit! The strawberry and vanilla shaved snow is perfectly smooth and creamy, and the fresh strawberries, graham cracker crumbs, and sweet drizzle make it taste exactly like a light, refreshing strawberry cheesecake. It's sweet without being heavy, and every bite feels like a little cloud of dessert. Easily a new favorite. Pollar Affagatto If you love coffee desserts, this one is a must-try. The combination of coffee and vanilla snow gives it a mellow espresso flavor, and the brownie bites and chocolate drizzle take it to the next level. It's rich but still surprisingly light -- the perfect mix of coffee, dessert, and creamy snow. It felt like an affogato but way more fun. I get the black dark decor based on the name but for me personally that was a bit too dark of a vibe for me and could be cleaner inside but you can eat outside with a couple of tables on the sidewalk. Overall, Vampire Penguin is such a unique spot for something different. The flavors are creative, the portion sizes are generous, and everything tastes super fresh. We'll definitely be back -- the Strawberry Cheesecake and Pollar Affagatto were both amazing just on the pricey side for shaved ice so consider it a higher end treat. read more
