I was surprised to come to Charleston and find peace pie while in town briefly bc I only know about the Cape May, NJ. We got the coconut coconut flavor and devoured it. It's a quick service however the staff is very friendly. If you haven't been, definitely make a stop and try a flavor or two! read more

This is a must to go to. When I went to Charleston we were told to come check this place out! My friend and I had a blast here and the ice cream sandwiches were fantastic. They have many different types of ice-cream sandwiches! To name a few: Peanut butter cookie dough,Pecan pie,Strawberry shortcake, Caramel brownie,chocolate mint and the original vanilla flavor and many more to choose from. The store if I remember correctly was a bit small but do not remember if they have seating indoors and out doors or neither. *sigh* sandwich was ok but service wasn't good. Upon arrival, we were not greeted by the two staff members (mind you, this is a very small establishment... we know they could see/hear us). When we attempted to greet the male employee to and ask questions to learn more, it was as if we were BOTHERING him. My friend asked if there were vegan/dairy free options and he rudely said "NO". When me and my other friend went to order, he did not provide eye contact, a smile, or any other nice/common gesture that humans give each other during interactions. I ordered the cookies n cream sandwich. as previously mentioned, it was okay. The ice cream is very cold/hard, so I would recommend eating it with a spoon and just breaking the cookies up as you go. Ice cream flavor was good, the but the hardness of the cookie and ice cream throws me off. Overall, I wouldn't come back to this business due to the poor customer service. Wish it wasn't so, since this is a unique business idea... but nah. read more

DARN! I was so excited for this ice cream sandwich and it was beautiful but it just wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. I got the cookies n cream sandwich and that ice cream was really good, but whatever the icing or cream is that they used above and below the cookies n cream to stick to the cookie was weird and I did not like it. Hate to say it but I threw most of it away because of that :( I would for sure just order their cookies n cream ice cream in a cup or cone if that's an option next time. read more

What a gem nestled in the heart of downtown Charleston! This cute little ice cream sandwich shop is an absolute delight for anyone with a sweet tooth. The variety here is astounding! With close to 40 different flavor combinations, it makes it hard to choose. The employee working was incredibly friendly and gave us some of her recommendations, because we were a little overwhelmed. We ended up going with the Cookie Dough, which was vanilla ice cream, chocolate mouse and cookie dough chunks, sandwiched between 2 chocolate cookies. Would highly recommend!! read more

Peace Pie made it on my list of things to try during our trip to Charleston. I didn't have to wait long for the craving to develop as it was hot and humid for the entire duration of our trip. On one particularly hot and humid afternoon, we stopped in to sample what they have to offer. They have tons of flavor combos including the standard shit (cookie dough, etc) and some new stuff. I tend to be a mint choco chip ride or die kind of bitch but I did see the topical pride flavor and decided to give that whirl. GF got the standard shit (cookie dough). I will agree with another review on here that the things were taken out of a freezer and it was very supermarket-esque. For some reason I thought they would be made on the spot? I also agree with that review that they were HARD AS A ROCK like you could probably break a tooth on that thing. You would think that would be appreciated in the heat but it's harder to eat that way. It was good but that isn't adequate for an ice cream sandwich. Neither of us felt compelled to finish it. read more

5/5 best tasting Ice Cream Sandwich I have ever had! My husband doesn't even like ice cream sandwiches and he devoured his! I ordered the crème brûlée which was so unique. It has the crème brûlée flavored ice cream with a thin layer of caramel and then the shortbread sandwich on the outside. It's the perfect sweet treat after dinner. I highly recommend Peace Pie and will be returning next time I come back to the area. It's in a great location next to the popular Hyman Seafood Restaurant and near a couple of hotels. read more

This is an ice cream sandwich place, with a minimal storefront (thankfully there are plenty of areas to eat outside in Charleston). I found an array of seasonal flavors in additon to the basics, and went with mint milano. The theme here is that the sandwiches have ice cream and pie fillings between two cookies, and my chocolate cookie and mint moose did go quite nicely between some neutral, shortbread-like cookies. They didn't seem to have much in the way of non-dairy items and I wouldn't call it the best dessert in town, but it was one indulgent and satisfying sandwich. read more

Just okay. Was expecting a better vibe from the place but it was just...blah. Got the Peach Ice Cream one, and it was okay. Sweeter than I expected. Actually, shoulda figured something was up, taste wise, when it was technically labeled Peach Cream. Anyway, the server was also past ready to go home, and showed it, combined with the mediocre desert and this highly anticipated visit was a fail. Not the best but not the worst. The food scene in Charleston is so great, I'm not sure this one measures up. We were in town trying to kill time before our flight so this was on the list. No seating inside but a few benches outside. Strawberry shortcake - yummy, the strawberry flavor was refreshing and went perfectly with the cookies The Elvis - recommended by the gentleman at the corner, but I just wasn't a fan. The chocolate just wasn't quality and wasn't as decadent as I was hoping Slightly overpriced, but if you have a hankering for an ice cream sandwich this will do the trick. Unfortunately next time I'm in Charleston this spot will not make the list read more

Ice cream pie on a hot day! Come early to get the popular flavors because it sells out. We came here are lunch and most of the popular flavors were no longer available. I ordered the strawberry shortcake. It is 2 shortbread cookies with strawberry ice cream in the middle. The shortbread cookies are pretty big so it seems like a huge scoop of ice cream is sandwiched in the middle. The ice cream pie was tasty and a very filling snack. However, I wouldn't say it was amazing giving me the feeling of craving it again. It is different as I don't run across many ice cream pie shops in my area. read more

Thankfully there was a picture menu available upon scanning a QR code which helped explain the flavors but it was still a tough choice because there were so many good ones to choose from! What an amazing alternative to the traditional ice cream cone. Peace Pie has ice cream sandwiches in all sorts of flavors. Me and the kids had Cookie dough and my husband had the Elvis one (yup, peanut butter, jelly, and banana). Even with the extremely hot temps in Charleston, they were frozen enough to eat without making too large of a mess. There appeared to only be one woman working. She was kind and friendly. We were lucky to be there without a line. I'm not sure if that's typical or not. read more

I asked if I could mix the flavors and she pulled out a pre-made ice cream sandwich. For $7, I was really hoping for customization and then also it was frozen so much that I couldn't even bite into it until it was defrosted. The cookie ends were crunchy but nothing to write home about. I left disappointed to have spent that much on the size of the sandwich. read more

Peace Pie offers unique and delicious ice cream sandwiches. The sandwiches are made with premium quality ice cream, some additional filling(a) (mousse, jams, etc.), and served on a variety of cookies (chocolate, shortbread, etc.). They're delicious. I got their strawberry shortbread sandwich, which had strawberry shortbread, vanilla mousse, and shortbread cookies. It was fantastic. And the menu offered a huge variety of combos of different ice creams, fillings, and cookies. The service is quick. The ice cream sandwiches are $7... which can seem expensive, but when you compare to any other dessert you'd get in the area, actually seems to work out to be a solid value. If you're in the neighborhood and want ice cream/dessert, this is a legit option. read more

Completely agree with so many reviews that this is a must try place in Charleston! The cookies are delicious and their flavor combos hit your sweet spot. We tried the Elvis and loved it! The Elvis has banana and peanut butter with chocolate ice cream and chocolate cookie. Super yummy combo! The cookies are thin and have some crunch but not crunchy and bit chewy but not too chewy. They hold up very well to the ice cream! The ice cream and cookie are frozen so it won't melt too quickly. It was cold anyways so no worries on it melting but they will hold up well in warmer weather. read more

This ice cream Sammie's are huge! I got the s'mores one. The marshmallows were squishy and the chocolate ice cream was really good. I'd recommend this because the cookie was a good texture too. I've ordered here a few times. The service is quick. The sandwiches are frozen well, so they hold for a while if you want to take them home and freeze them for later. My favorite is the vanilla sandwich. I especially like the custard between the ice cream sandwich and the ice cream. Looking forward to trying other flavors. read more

Was so excited to try this ice cream, but it did not live up to my anticipation We shared the s'mores and the coconut pie. The vanilla ice cream did nothing to bring out the coconut pie flavour. Warning: intense ice cream sandwiches here. SO good. My sister and I shared one. It's like two ice cream sandwiches in one. It has a peace sign imprinted on both sides of the sandwich. Salted caramel brownie is the most popular flavor and there's a good amount of brownie chunks in there! $6 for one is worth it because it's huge. Not to be confused with Piece Pie because I think the powers that be should dole out some of their very extensive pie to anyone who has a Piece so that we can get the guns off the streets and out of the homes and stop people dying, like almost every other nation on earth (i.e. all the smart ones) have already done. This Place does ice cream sandwiches which are all the rage right now. I'm not a big fan, and I don't think the quality of the stuff that's put into them is all that high, but these aren't bad as far as they go and I've had much worse in terms of ice cream sandwiches around the country. If you're into the idea of ice cream sandwiches by all means give it a go. I didn't find this to be a big attraction and I'm not a huge fan, and I'm not big on ice cream sandwiches anyway - the ones in Los Angeles and other places are much better. I'd give five stars for the peace and love and hippie element, but it's just an image, and the products don't match up and prices are high, so the three stars for the PP is really very generous. read more

These were so good I went for dessert 2 nights in a row while I was in town. The first night I got the peach pie ice cream sandwich. They are hard cracker type ice cream sandwiches but they go so well with the ice cream and swirled flavors. The peach consisted of peach ice cream and a peach swirl with graham cracker cookies. The salted caramel apple pie was also graham cracker cookies, with apple ice cream and salted caramel swirl. Both were delicious! read more

I am a lover of all things ice cream so off course when I typed in desserts for the Charleston area I had to save this place. Peace Pie is a fun yet simple alternative to all the ice cream shops in the area. They serve pre-made ice cream sandwiches, which as long as you know what flavor you're going for makes the lines here go a lot faster than a shop where they're scooping every customers inidividual orders. I say that but let me tell you that you can take a while in this place too because they have so many options! I narrowed it down to my top three flavors and then just asked the staff member working which of those 3 they recommended and they told me hands down key lime. I love key lime, the tartness that bothers some does not bother me at all, so going with the key lime peace pie sounded perfect. They're a bit on the pricey side, $6 a piece unless you find a flavor in the ones they've messed up while making those are reduced pricing but it was so worth it! The key lime had the perfect amount of sweet and tart and the pie part to hold it tasted exactly like graham cracker crust it was perfect! I'd love to try other flavors but if I ever came across one of those again I probably would just go for the key lime again. read more

Went here with 9 girlfriends, each one of us got a different sandwich and we each loved what we got. The sandwiches are pre-made daily, so the service was quick. There's also counter seating for 2-3 people inside as well as two benches outside, if you decide you want to sit and enjoy. They also have to-go boxes which helps with the messy melting ice cream if you're a slow eater like me. read more

Peace Pice does ice cream sandwiches which are very popular right now. The Yelp reviews were very high and the shop was close to our hotel. After trying two different ice cream cookie sandwiches, we were not big fans. The quality and taste were just OK. The concept of the store is pretty cool. I didn't realize they had a shop also in Cape May, NJ. If your ever in Philadelphia, stop by Weckerly's and they will show you how ice cream sandwiches are done. ** 1.5 stars ** I was excited to try Peace Pie after reading all of the stellar reviews. Unfortunately, it was a miss for me. The ice cream sandwiches come out of plastic freezer bags like what you would find in the frozen food section at the grocery store. Wouldn't be surprised if they were made off site and shipped to the store. In other words, these don't appear to be freshly made in store. Peace Pie and many reviewers suggest allowing your sandwich to soften for a few minutes. I was taking it back to the hotel and worried about it melting. No issues with melting because 20 minutes later it was still hard as a ROCK! It took about 30 minutes before it was relatively soft enough to eat. The best part about the ice cream sandwich was the cookie, but otherwise completely unremarkable. It wasn't bad, since at the end of the day it's still ice cream in between two cookies, hard to mess up. That being said, I could go to the grocery store to buy a box of ice cream sandwiches for the same price or less and would find it equally enjoyable. This review is mainly geared towards visitors, like myself, who are looking to try the best Charleston has to offer. I can save you the trip and tell you that Peace Pie is not one of those places. read more

Here for 4 days, I tried as much food as I can. A quick cute ice cream sandwich window, this spot on Meeting Street is can quickly fulfill a sweet craving. We ordered The Elvis, which was chocolate ice cream, cabana butter, and peanut butter chiffon smushed between 2 chocolate cookies. I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed on the freshness of this. First, the cookies were cold/frozen. It was hard to bite into something hard and cold, especially if your teeth are sensitive. I was hoping the cookies were fresh baked in house and the ice cream be scooped in placed in the middle. However, the ice cream was tasty, not freezer burnt, and the banana flavor was actually not just a flavoring. It legit tasted like mashed bananas. I really enjoyed that. But for $6 and how long it took to receive this sandwich, I am not sure if this a highlight of historic downtown Charleston. 2.5/10 read more

History

Established in 2016.

Peace Pie is a family run business, officially established in 2015, but having roots back to 2009. For Thanksgiving dessert that year, my father created a "pecan pie, shortbread a la mode lasagna". Over the next four years, he went searching for how to make his "a la mode lasagna" into an ice cream sandwich. In the summer of 2013, my father enlisted my help in selling Peace Pies at a local farmers' market on Thursday mornings. They were a huge hit. Building on the success of that summer, in 2014 my father and I brought in the help of my mother and sister as we expanded into 9 farmers markets and many other local festivals. Realizing we had something special, we purchased a storefront in Cape May, NJ. The first Peace Pie store opened up on Memorial Day of 2015. Continuing to build, we have chosen Charleston, SC as the second location, and opened our Meeting Street location on February 5th, 2016. This story is just beginning.

Hi! I'm Joe. I operate and own (along with the rest of my family) Peace Pie Charleston. You can find me there pretty much all the time. (Although recently some very talented Peace Pie Ambassadors of Goodwill have made my life a bit more sane!) If I'm at the store, I'll be making Peace Pies or mousses or ice creams. Or I'll be doing dishes. Or possibly playing trumpet, practicing a little yoga, or meditating. There is a remote, although increasingly likely chance you will find me lost meandering the inter-webs. So come by to say hi! Oh, and you can also try an incredibly unique and delicious dessert! How could this be a bad thing?

That's the best thing I could say about our experience. The food, pricing, service, and ambiance all fell below average. When you are located downtown with so many great dessert options around, you really need to step up your game. We will not be returning.

Now for the cakes! Everyone was raving about them and asking where they came from... even people who said they don't even like chocolate cake (weirdos if you ask me). I lucked out because my guests had restraint and didn't devour every last mini cupcake so I took home about a dozen of them and enjoyed all of them with zero judgement from the party goers.
