Chicken, green beans, rice and a few French fries

I visited Dukes BBQ for lunch. I notice they advertise on their sign that they were voted the best buffet by Charleston City Paper. After visiting I realized that they must be the only buffet in Charleston. There was plenty of parking and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the inside of the restaurant was clean and spacious[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The cashier was very friendly and told us how to navigate the buffet. The prices were too high for the quality of the food and they charge a convenience fee if you use a credit card. There was not a lot of BBQ at the bar. They had some smoked pork, chicken breast and chicken livers. The rest of the bar had sub-par sides of mac and cheese, green beans and collards. They had several desserts that were dried out and not fresh tasting. I would not recommend based on the price vs. The quality and small selection of food.

Duke's all you can eat BBQ buffet is a must-try! We were immediately greeted when we entered. The cashier gave us a brief description of what all was at the buffet bar. The pulled pork was incredibly tender and flavorful. The sides were all top-notch - the mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy, the collard greens were perfectly seasoned, and the fried chicken was moist and juicy. The service was friendly and attentive. The only disappoint was they didn't have any ribs at the buffet when I visited for lunch. I would recommend for a quick casual lunch or dinner! They do charge you a convenience fee if you pay with a credit card....didn't like that. I was not told about the convenience charge, didn't know until I checked my reciept.

The chicken, pork, hash, & especially the macaroni & green beans were quite good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also that place was Spic & Span clean from the lot, the tables, outside, the buffet, indoor seating area, & as far as you could see into the kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Someone even came out cleaning the windows on the inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have eaten at some upscale restaurants & the glass and window seals were dusty and dirty. Not here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I wish closer to 3.5 was an option. They're super friendly, and the pricing is pretty reasonable for a buffet in 2025. The pork is good, and the mustard sauce and hush puppies are great. But the rest is just pretty ok. The vegetables are vegetables, but not super flavorful. The mac and cheese /looked/ like it was going to be amazing but wasn't that flavorful either. I would go again, but mostly because I don't think there are a ton of similar options.

Okay so this is my first time ever getting Dukes. Its a small building that's keeping a lot of great thing inside them 4 walls. I did drive thru which was so great getting to order at the window rather than at the menu. Its so much more personal. Service was great. I got the fried chicken plate with Mac collards and hash and rice. All of it was delicious. My husband had the same sides but the pork. I can't say enough how good it is!

Super awesome spot! We used to go to the Dukes in Ridgeville all the time. Happy this one is closer to us. My husband loves this spot, especially on a Friday night when he can get fish, too! The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is very clean. The food is super hot and very fresh. Tastes just like my grandma made it- good home cooking!!

For $14, you get some "good old boy" barbecue, fried chicken, and just enough sides. The hush puppies are always super crunchy and plentiful. Coming back from the beach towards downtown on a Saturday, you can't beat this deal! The pork is always cooked perfectly and is complimented well with the KC style smoky sauce. Throw a few pickles on there, some hot sauce, and you're in heaven. We'd love to see some buffalo sauce, fresher veggies, and fresh cut fries. Most of what you see is canned and sides are all prepped ahead of time. Yes, Mr. Duke, we'd GLADLY pay $20 per head for these upgrades!

I recently ordered some pans of sides for a party. I had a friend pick them up for me, and once she brought the sides to the party, I realized two things: I ordered full pans but was sent half-pans, and I was given two sides of rice and no Mac and cheese when I ordered rice and Mac. At about this time, an employee from Duke's called (and texted when I didn't hear to answer) to explain the mix-up. I had a party guest go back to Duke's to pick up the macaroni. We made do with the half-pans, but these were not the "1 pan feeds 15-20" advertised on their catering page. Everything had good flavor, but I was disappointed in the service we received and the size of pans I received compared to what I ordered.

We parked in a parking garage right across the street. I think it was $10 to park. This is a farm to table kind of place so the menu changes regularly and it is limited. But the food is incredible. We started with deviled eggs and some sort of oyster app. I'm not much of an oyster guy but they were very good. The deviled eggs were excellent. For my main, I got a 22 ounce ribeye. It was $135! But... it was fantastic. Had mushrooms and some sort of sauce on it and pre sliced which was nice. For sides we got collard greens. They were tasty. This time around I was dining with friends, which meant we got to order a whole bunch of dishes - a foodie's dream. We started with the Hunter Cattle Beef Tartare, topped with shoestring potatoes, smoked cheddar, and egg yolk jam. It was rich, flavorful, and while the presentation looked a bit like dog food, it was otherwise the perfect way to kick off the meal. For the table, we also shared the Roasted Carrots, served with chamomile honey, labneh, puffed rice, candied peanuts, and an olive crumble. I know, carrots aren't always a "must-order," but trust me - they were fantastic. We also couldn't pass up the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread with Broadbent bacon crumble mixed throughout. Southern comfort food!!! For my entree, I ordered the Blueberry & Corn Salad, which was anything but an ordinary salad. Between the BBQ pecans, ricotta salata, bacon fat honey mustard, and fresh seasonal ingredients, every bite was packed with flavor. One friend ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo with compressed cantaloupe, marigold, and leche de tigre. It was bright, refreshing, and beautifully plated. Our other friend opted for the South Carolina Golden Tilefish, served with Kindlewood Farms summer squash and serrano, and it, too, was a hit. For drinks, one friend enjoyed a glass of wine while I ordered the Dragoon Punch. I'll admit, I was a little disappointed to learn my beloved Primrose Path was no longer on the menu. I even asked if they could make one, but unfortunately they were missing one of the ingredients. No worries, the Dragoon Punch was delicious and a worthy replacement. Our server, Tal H., was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, informative, and guided us through the ever-changing menu with ease. Even though the restaurant was busy, we never felt rushed. Husk continues to be worth the reservation. I'd happily dine here again... and again... and ag

Famous for its oysters and fried chicken, this Charleston favorite has a vibrant green entrance you can't miss, with cozy indoor seating plus patios in both the front and back that give off relaxed, coastal vibes. We started with the smoked mahi dip, and I honestly couldn't stop eating it--it was my favorite dish of the day. We also ordered two rounds of the chargrilled oysters, and they disappeared almost instantly. The design is thoughtfully executed, the space feels comfortable even when it's busy, and the service is friendly, attentive, and impressively fast. I also appreciated a small but important detail: despite how popular the restaurant is, there are plenty of restrooms and no long lines. Little things like that genuinely improve the guest experience. Unfortunately, that's where most of my praise ends. I intentionally ordered many of the restaurant's signature dishes because I wanted to judge the restaurant as a whole rather than base my opinion on one successful plate. The food simply doesn't live up to the expectations created by the photos. Everything looks noticeably less refined and less appetizing once it reaches the table. The fried chicken was just ordinary chicken in a heavy, greasy breading. The oysters were fresh and enjoyable with no complaints there. The famous salad turned out to be mostly a large bowl of cabbage, while the avocado and mandarin seemed more decorative than meaningful. Most of the flavor came from mint and an overly acidic vinaigrette that dominated the dish. The fish sandwich was the biggest disappointment. The issue wasn't the fish itself but the composition of the sandwich. The dry, stale bun completely overpowered everything else, while the basic vegetables did nothing to complement or elevate the fish. Instead of highlighting the main ingredient, the sandwich buried it, which defeats the entire purpose of a great fish sandwich. The Korean smashed cucumber salad tasted primarily of vinegar and sesame oil with very little depth, while the hush puppies were dry and lacked the rich corn flavor that usually makes them memorable. Even the drinks reinforced the same impression. The beer was good, but charging $8 for what felt like half of a standard pour once again made the value feel questionable. This brings me to the biggest issue with Leon's. It feels like the restaurant invests far more in its atmosphere, interior design, and photogenic image than in its food. It's a place that looks incredible in pictures and is easy to recommend for the setting, but much harder to recommend for the cuisine itself. High prices are not a problem when they are backed by exceptional cooking. Here, however, it felt as though I was paying for the restaurant's reputation, constant stream of tourists, and social media appeal rather than for truly outstanding food. I would happily come back for a beer, enjoy the patio, and spend an evening with friends. But I wouldn't return specifically for the food. For a restaurant with such a strong reputation, that's the greatest disappointment of all.

I don't have any other she-crab soup to compare it to, but I can say it was absolutely delicious. Consider me a fan. After five days of enjoying Charleston's incredible food scene, we were looking for a lighter lunch since we were planning to splurge later that evening at Halls Chophouse. My wife and I split the southern tomato pie and the chicken salad wrap, and the combination was perfect. Both dishes were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were looking for at that point in our trip. We chose to sit inside because of the humidity, and from our table we had a wonderful view overlooking the courtyard. Surrounded by mature trees, brick pathways, and historic Charleston charm, it provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxed and enjoyable lunch.
