Picked this up to go last week while in Charleston and it did not disappoint! The team had the food ready so quickly and it was delicious. The Mac and cheese is an absolute MUST. Can't go wrong with any of the meats. While the take out was fab I also recommend eating in the restaurants it's perfect for a fun casual meal.

I've been hearing about Home Team BBQ ever since I moved here a year ago- I can't believe this was my first time! I went with a group of friends and we were all blown away by our entrees. I personally had the pulled pork meat plate with mac & cheese and coleslaw on the side. Sarah provided excellent service and we had a great experience.

Home Team BBQ is a frequent spot for us since it is so close. They have a small lot that gets filled up after 5pm and street parking can be tough, but you can find some spots further down the street. I've had a variety of their offerings, mostly things on their shared platters: - The buffalo chicken dip isn't bad, but not something I find myself really reaching for - The mac and cheese is actually so good! Very creamy, cheesy, savory, and good noodle texture - The coleslaw isn't too bad, on the sweeter side, like a poppyseed salad dressing - The potato salad is good and creamy - The ribs are easy to eat as they come off the bone pretty easily, definitely needs the additional BBQ/hot sauce on the table - I'm not a beans person but my friend loved their baked beans and couldn't get enough of it - I really enjoyed their cheddar jalapeno sausage - bursting with flavor and a kick of spice - The wings are good, especially with the alabama white sauce (like sweeter ranch) - I actually really enjoyed their turkey, especially with the red sauce - The banana pudding wasn't good - tasted like artificial store-bought banana pudding and just had a couple of cookies/banana slices. This one is a miss Good BBQ and everyone is always a fan of the Game Changer drinks. Good place to go, especially when you have larger parties, as you can sit outside and enjoy the air.

This is a good BBQ spot, very popular especially on weekends and can garner a huge crowd during big football games, etc. The inside area is nice and there also are plenty of picnic tables outside. Service can be a bit slow but there are a lot of patrons so makes sense. Food overall was good. I loved all of their sides: Mac&cheese, potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw were all perfect. Wings were very tasty too. For me the nachos were just okay, probably wouldn't order again. Their sauces are delicious.

Pulled pork brisket. Sandwich was delicious and I love that you can sauce it up yourself. I've been to Lewis's, but never home team so it was expecting more of a tray and sit down style, but it is full restaurant come to your table seating. The mac & cheese was very waxy and wouldn't recommend. My friend had collard greens and this was my first time ever trying them, but they were so good here! My sandwich did not come with coleslaw, but was only one dollar to add it on. The prices are pretty high, but you get a lot of food for each meal. There is not a ton of parking out front, but there is a parking lot across the street. It's really only for businesses but if you go on a weekend, the parking lot is empty as they are all closed.

The wings here are AMAZING!!! I loved the pulled pork bbq sandwich with sides of coleslaw & Mac & cheese. Fast service, good energy. Love that you can put your name down & come back once your table is ready!

It was just after 12 noon and by some miracle we only stood in line about ten minutes. The rush came in shortly after although I will say they handle the crowds beautifully. When it comes to barbecue, I am a pulled pork girl and I have lived in Texas! I don't hate on brisket, but none of it has bowled me over. Until today. Once again, I wasn't ordering so I just went with the flow. That chopped brisket sandwich was so moist and full of flavor that it did not need a DROP of barbecue sauce. I did use the sauce to dip my fries in. I don't often eat macaroni and cheese although I do love it ( my hips don't!) but I had to try it or risk the wrath of my lunch companions. It was delicious! The best I have had in a restaurant. Collards were fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the rustic setting and certainly the company. They can choose dining spots for me anytime!

That's only half true. The mac and cheese was incredible! I am still drooling over it. Nice crust on top.. so yummy. Now, I had the brisket because sometimes pork doesn't agree with me. I wish I would've just taken an antacid and had the pork. I ordered the sliced lean brisket. It was not as tender as I would think and a little on the dry side. My husband had the pulled pork and our daughter had the pulled pork sandwich. Both raved about it. I had a bite of the sandwich and instantly regretted my meat choice. We ordered a pint of the mac and cheese, which was amazing! We also order a side of the tallow fries. Those were delish as well. The line was super long but they did a good job at moving it along. We sat outside at the patio since we had our pup with us. Great place to check out when visiting Charleston but I would encourage you to try the pork over the brisket.

The Mac and cheese was tasty as well with corkscrew noodles with a white cheese sauce and the slaw was surprisingly delicious I ate my kiddos slaw too! lol! Substantial portions although the brisket burger and catfish sandwiches are not so big with price to match. The brisket burger in appearance looks just like a hamburger as the meat is minced. We were greeted by a nice bartender who accommodated my request for a low vs high table. We then met Rachel, our waitress. She was very pleasant and attentive to us. Both my husband and I ordered the brisket, and I ordered pulled pork in addition. My husband ordered baked beans and coleslaw as side dishes. I ordered the collard greens. The brisket was outstanding in flavor. I finished that meat and moved on to the pulled pork. I was shocked when I put it in my mouth. It was SOOOO salty!!!! Now I know from my own cooking BOO-BOOs that you cannot use the same amount of salt on pork that you might on beef. Not sure Home Team's pit master knows this???? My husband said the vinegar-based coleslaw did not have much flavor, but the baked beans were good. He could not identify if they were canned-but I could see they did not appear soupy like most BBQ places serve their canned beans. My collard greens had a generous amount of meat in them-more than I would ever expect. What I was surprised with was that they were spiced up to the point, they made me cough with heat and had vinegar in them as well. Now, after a few bites, I did get used to them and enjoyed them. If I had my choice...I would not have wanted the vinegar on them automatically. When the bill came, I was a bit surprised. The menu had listed that you could purchase the meats by the pound. I specifically ordered as "I will have 1/4 lb of brisket and the same amount of pulled pork. I would also like just a side of collard greens and that is all." When my tray came, it had those Items on them in addition of a Hawaiian roll and 2-fried pork rind pieces. Now my husband specifically said, "I am going to have the pick one meat platter", which DID include the roll and rinds. My lunch should have cost $4.50 for the pork and $6.50 for the brisket and $4 for the collards---a total of $15. She charged us $22.95. She charged us $20.95 for my husband's meal, which was correct. As I stated in another Charleston, SC restaurant review...I am going to dedicate my remaining days when we retire here to SHAMING restaurants into doing the appropriate ethical practice of not up-charging patrons just to make a buck instead of winning their loyal patronage!!! It is disgraceful.
