I had such a lovely experience here this morning! I came in for some empanadas and a Napoleon puff pastry to share with my family, and the lady who helped me was so kind and welcoming. She even gave me a little complimentary sweet treat! She told me she had put something extra in my bag, but I misunderstood and only realized later that she had gifted me a treat. It was such a sweet gesture and genuinely made my morning. Thank you so much for your kindness! Everything was delicious, and I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I wanted to post a quick update for anyone who relies on gluten-free options: Mayu's Bakery no longer offers gluten-free cakes. I stopped in to order a birthday cake for my son. Because I have to eat gluten-free for health reasons, I usually order our family celebration cakes GF so I can enjoy a slice too. Since they discontinued their GF cakes, I did end up purchasing a regular cake for his birthday so our guests could enjoy it- but sadly this means their cakes aren't inclusive for my own family's dietary needs when we want to share dessert together :( I still love Mayu's Bakery and will continue buying cakes and treats from them for other occasions, but I wanted to give fellow GF families a heads-up! read more

The customer service was AMAZING! A day before my son's 8th birthday the baker I initially placed an order with was not able to finalize my order. With less than a 24 hr notice I went to Mayu's. I ordered on a Saturday afternoon, and the cake was ready Sunday morning before 10am. And it was delicious! I will definitely will be coming back! read more

Very small store. The staff are friendly. The cake is disappointing. Not high quality more like home level.

I forgot to take a photo of my cake unfortunately but I really recommend this bakery. Everyone here is so friendly & the cakes taste amazing. I've come back multiple times for the personal mini cakes. One of the workers even helped me out with some candles for a last minute birthday cake. Highly recommend this location!! I've ordered here multiple times! Usually the same day - ready to pick up cakes. This time I placed a order for a custom cake. Mayu did not disappoint, the cake was and is delicious! Walking in you get the beautiful visuals of the cakes. Bonus points for empanadas and tamales to try. The cookies we were focused on getting are absolutely delicious. Will take forever to try the devine looking small pastries. We will definitely keep this bakery in mind first future sweet needs. read more

We came here to preorder a birthday cake for my father-in-law. We chose this bakery because it's close to home, the shop is clean, and their pastries are delicious. The service was also pleasant. I requested a fisherman theme for the cake, envisioning a creative ocean design. Unfortunately, the final result was disappointing--the decorations and topper appeared to be store-bought from Amazon. Had I known, I would've provided my own. I was expecting some handmade fondant elements, but none were included. I'd still recommend this bakery for their pastries and simple, premade cakes, but not for custom designs. read more

Let me start by saying that the customer service is top tier! 5 stars just for customer service alone. Mayu's cakes was recommended to me with high praise. I went to the store and purchased several mini cakes to try all the amazing flavors. It was definitely a difficult choice! But, I decided on, one tier having lemon and another tier having banana and custard. They both were delicious and the cake looked amazing! My guest were debating on which flavor was their favorite. I will definitely be a returning customer. read more

We ordered a cake for our daughter's quinceañera a week in advance and they were so kind and helpful. The person in the store helped talk us through options and show us pictures, she was great. The day we picked it up it looked exactly like the pictures and it made our daughter's day! Thank you so much! We will definitely order again. read more

this is the second time I've been in. I bought a cake for a birthday and it was a biscotti layer cake. The cake was delicious not too sweet like I thought it would be. The texture was fluffy and reminded me of wedding cake. they have a large selection of pastries besides cakes and I've tried the cannoli and it was pretty good. The service was fast and friendly. The shop is well kept and clean. parking can be a bit confusing as it does share a parking lot with Starbucks and you either have to come in by making a u-turn or from the other street. also if you get there in time they might have in empanadas. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a nice cake. read more

We originally visited this bakery to sample a variety of their pastries, including cake pops, a ham & cheese croissant, chocolate croissant, cream horn, and several others. Unfortunately, we found the quality inconsistent. Many of the pastries seemed stale, the cake pops had a noticeably artificial flavor, and the ham & cheese croissant was mealy at the center. Considering the other excellent patisseries in the area, we decided not to return for pastries. On a positive note, a cake sample available at the bakery was delicious--moist and delicately sweet, striking a nice balance compared to the overly sweet offerings typical of chain bakeries. Encouraged by the cake sample, we ordered custom cakes for two birthdays about a year apart. The first cake was fully inedible due to an excessive use of food coloring, which imparted a horrifically bitter taste, and forced to throw away the entire cake. Although the bakery owner initially reacted with frustration, he did issue a refund and we appreciated it. We gave it another chance some months later with a simpler cake and avoiding any custom decorations, but this one was dry. The frosting was absolutely wonderful, but the cake itself was lacking. The actual cakes we received never reflected the original sample we were so impressed with that first time. While this bakery is not the worst, the high prices do not match the quality of the offerings. read more

Thank you to Mayu's Cakes & Bakery for making my 59th birthday extra special! They created the most beautiful heart-shaped treat filled with fresh strawberries and chocolate--exactly my two favorite things. I called a week in advance of my wife's 50th birthday, and spoke with a person who was absolutely certain they could meet my requirements: Guava cake, with coconut and pineapple filling, no butter cream frosting, just whipped cream and a digital print of a special picture. One day before the birthday party, I was called and informed, "whoever took my order was wrong". That they don't make guava cake. I asked why was I being called at noon on the day before my wife's bday, when I could've been called the day after I placed my order. I was not provided a reason, other than asking me to make a choice about the type of cake that they can make. I had to make a choice under a tight deadline because I had no other option. Once I updated my order, I asked the person to please have a manager or owner call me so that I could express my concern about my situation. Never got a call. When I drove from Oakland to Pittsburgh to pick up the cake, I asked the counter person to please have someone call me as I shared my story with her. Never got a call. So how was the cake that I paid for but had to change the day before my wife's birthday? It was still what I didn't order. Maybe one day, the owner will be a good human being and do what's right: Apologize, and just give me back my money. No customer should ever have to pay for another employees mistakes. read more

Great Customer service. Beautiful cakes, friendly staff. Will most definitely purchase again.

I was excited to try Mayu's, as I've seen all the great reviews and I've passed by so many times wondering what I was missing. I got the cannolis, mocha eclairs and vanilla peach mini cake. Everything looked so good. The bakery was really cute inside, looked very clean and organized, and the lady who helped me was super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the treats I selected didn't blow my mind. The cannoli shells seemed a bit too hard, the filling a bit too sweet. The mocha eclair did not have a complex flavor, rather a bit on the sweet side. My treats didn't taste stale, but I wouldn't say they were fresh. Based on all the other reviews, I'd say maybe I came on an off day. Everyone seems to love their offerings, so maybe it's just me. I'll give them another try, and report back. They seem to have a good variety of cakes, which is what they're known for. I will say that the price point was very reasonable. read more

Delicious pan dulces and Latin American pastries. There were decorated cakes and also coffee. I really liked the balance of the guava filling and pastry, every bit had good flavor to it. The little conchas were light, fluffy and the bread had a buttery taste to it. Paired very well with a hot chocolate I had later that day. The service was prompt, friendly, and welcoming. I glad the line at the chain establishment was too long. I ended up with a much better way to satisfy my morning sweet tooth. read more

This morning we popped into Mayu's for a quick pick me up..specifically for something savory. I was directed to the display next to the register with the Empanadas...and immediately saw the Spinach & Cheese Empanadas. The person behind the counter said they were still warm and fresh from the oven...exactly what I needed to hear. I gave into their siren call and gladly paid my $3.99. Folks, these were so tasty...and the dough was perfectly cooked and flaky. Ok, I'm a tough customer and have a critical eye, but not for these. The "only" suggested improvement is to add maybe a spoonful more of the spinach & cheese mixture. Otherwise, I'm going to be a repeat customer for these babies. ;) read more

I have been a ordering/purchasing from Mayu's since they first opened, but my most recent experience was incredibly disappointing. I called ahead to reserve a specific cake, yet when I arrived, I was told it had been sold to someone else. The person in the front clearly recognized me, she even asked if I was the person 'doing the Costco run' so there was no confusion about my identity or my order. Instead of an apology, she simply said, 'It got sold,' and claimed I should have paid over the phone. However, that option was never offered to me when I called to reserve it. It is a shame to receive such indifferent service. read more
