If you're thinking about ordering DoorDash, or something similar form this place, don't. You'll waste your time and money. I tried to call them three times because they had cancelled one of the items I ordered. The app indicated that the item was out of stock. That part is completely fine and I acknowledge that it's my fault that I didn't change the option on the DoorDash app to "contact me" if the item was unavailable. It was around 3pm on a Friday when I decided to stop by. I was craving Mais Con Yielo which is a Filipino shaved ice dessert with corn as the star. I haven't been back to Sweet A's since 2019 so it's nice to be back. There were quite a bit of us waiting for our drinks but shoutout to the two people working this day. I got my dessert fairly quickly and loved the fact that the lid was sealed rather than opened. It was perfect to drink whilst multitasking rather than focusing on the dessert itself. Their phone NEVER works when trying to place an order ahead of time. Once you arrive they're usually out of crepes an hour before closing. Most of the workers (I say most because there is actually a very nice guy who works here but I don't see him most of the time) always have an attitude. I used to go here a lot. We were one of the first customers, when it first open. Then customer service was great very personable. I'm definitely the "Filipino love"- respect and sweet customer service. This time, I did not feel that customer service, it's just okay - the respect, sweet customer service just not there. This place has been on my radar for a while, but I never had the chance to go here. Upon coming home from work, I decided to swing by and finally give it a chance. The place is in some sort of plaza off of Loveridge Road. The aesthetics of the place is nice, since you walk into bookshelves flanking your left and right. The counter is in the back where you place your order. Mango Milkshake: This was pretty good. It didn't taste overwhelming sweet but had enough flavor to give me that mango burst. It was smooth and creamy, which is what I liked in a milkshake. I know some like thick milkshakes, but then it makes it not as satisfying drinking through a straw. So I have come here so many times and order the Ube Leche Creme & add the Halo Halo mix to the bottom. Usually they just charge like additional tipping or Boba. Apparently the manager must've never been here all of those times bcoz this time the girl didn't know how to charge & went to the back to ask the manager and and she said she would have to charge me the half of the Halo Halo beverage. I'm like excuse me? The drink is already $8.50 how come the other times they only charge [& I explained]. So she went back to the back and came back & said this time only we will charge u $2. Sweet A's...it's a bit weird but damn it is good! I get the whole read a book and hang out with your dessert but it doesn't feel connected. It's like trying to fuse a Boarders book store or a library with a dessert place. Yes, it can work but I think it's their set up that's throwing it off. Maybe bring on a designer or someone that understands branding to tie it all together? It's not an immediate fix type of thing but something to take into consideration. Also, maybe make the inside more lively. You have amazing desserts and the customer service is great, I think it needs to be little upbeat. Maybe have some smooth jazz playing. Something that readers wouldn't mind having playing in the background while they're reading and it'll also help bring some vibrance inside. Now for the dessert. I've had their halohalo there several times now and damn...it is amazing. It's huge and full of greatness. I like my halohalo a little less busy because they put frosted flakes in there's. I'm not complaining though it's their thing and can't knock it. Overall it's amazing. My family had some of their other deserts and all of them were outstanding.
