Half Price Books was a cool surprise! I was eating next door and needed to walk off my dinner. I wandered in and was blown away by the selection. I ended up browsing for an hour. Books, magazines, video games, records... they had it all! There is something for everyone in here! Great selection, helpful staff!!!

    Trump book selling for $1500.00

Torn on how I feel about this place. Sometimes you find decent deals, but lately things seem way overpriced. I found an art book I really wanted but it was selling for $105. I looked it up on eBay and it was selling for half that in a much better condition. Since I still wanted it, I asked if they could budge on the price. While they were willing to go down to $50 I could still get a better version online for less. (I asked for $40 which I still think was more than it should have been, it was in bad condition). I also saw that they had a Trump book in the cabinet for $1500 which is just wild to me. eBay first edition SIGNED is $700 at most so I don't know why they priced it that way, not that I have ANY interest in buying it. We also bought some cds there since my husband and I were getting into them, but realized at Rasputin they were a fraction of the price ($7 at half price and .50 at Rasputin). I was disappointed and felt like it was a huge ripoff. That said, it's still a good place to go and I do love supporting book stores. They have a great puzzle selection, just be careful with their pricing.

    $17.99 DVD, PRICE-GOUGING!!!

Service: rude, obnoxious, arrogant, smug, smart-alecky, wholly unhelpful staff. Selection: extremely limited, inferior, mediocre book stock. Value: exorbitantly priced merchandise with the cheapest, chintzy prices paid for customer trade-in books and media.

I think that HPB took cues from Casinos when building this place because I spent over an hour in here the other day and I could have sworn it was 20 minutes max! I wasn't even done looking! I could have looked for so much longer! All that looking and I barely made a dent in my wallet but an arms full of books! This spot has become my me time spot! I always find so many great books on my TBR list at great prices to fill my ever expanding bookshelf.

    Cool sci fi books!

But…read moreone must remember that this is a bookstore at a community college so it can be forgiven that the size is smaller. I've come to this place at just about every hour it's been open. I must advise people if they want to buy their books here or boy anything here, avoid coming to the store at around opening, 12pm-3pm, and an hour before closing. If you come during that time, one will be stuck with lines. Also, if it isn't the first two weeks of school or the last two weeks of school, there won't be a lot of cashiers. The store as a Peet's Coffee in it. It's a bit small. There aren't a lot of options in their menu. But they are kind people. They know the menu frontward and backwards. They are efficient and get the order to you quickly. The snacks around the coffee stop are not generally healthy. There may be a salad or two but I don't suggest going here if you are super health conscious. Their variety of drinks and food though from Coca Cola to Gatorade to cheesecake to burritos to hot Cheetos to Cliff Bars. The prices are pretty much the same as any other store. Not cheap, but not expensive either. I can grab a bar of Hershey's candy for about a buck and fifty cents. During the hectic two weeks where students are scrambling to buy their textbooks and stuff, there are a lot more employees on the floor. You can go to them for just about anything. One can ask them for help in finding a book and they'll lead you straight too it. The prices for textbooks are low in comparison to ones in a larger university. But the textbooks are still incredibly expensive. There are some teachers that like to use loose-leaf binders for their texts instead of actual books. This increases the price of the material, and it's something one unfortunately can't return. Calling this place is difficult. They hardly pick up, and sometimes, one can get out on hold as well. Overall, this place is useful to a student. It's what a student will have to deal with while at DVC.

I had to add this after my experience yesterday at the bookstore…read more I've been a student here for several years, and right now I have to say I'm VERY thankful I never have to come back to this evil place of pain, ever again. I waited 20 minutes to GET INTO the actual store, at which point I grabbed what I wanted within 2 minutes and proceeded to stand in line for 45 minutes...and the best part is...I moved 3 feet. I finally gave up when after 20 minutes the line HADN'T MOVED ONCE. I kid you not, I was wondering if people were cutting or there was some sort of robbery/death crisis keeping the cashiers from doing their jobs. I called my mom, got the number for Get Used across the street, who it turned out not only had no line, but had the book AND the used copy to boot. If I had just gone to Get Used I would have saved myself an hour or more and a headache. As it was I saved 30 wonderful dollars which I can now use to buy food with. Thanks so much DVC Bookstore. I hope angry canary's eat your liver.

The old Barnes and Nobles you could spend a couple hours walking around looking at books. This is the light version. Unfortunately online stuff has put us in the situation where you can go into this bookstore and cover the whole place in around 15 minutes. I was looking at the "horror" section and it's okay but again, the light version. Also the fact everything is so expensive now also doesn't help. A paperback was 20 bucks. I'm not paying 20 bucks for a book I'll read once that I can get a the library for free. Magazine prices are absurd. I did find a couple that were 8 bucks but most are over ten and usually more. For a magazine. I hope this type of place keeps going but I can see why they don't. Support your local book store.

Much appreciated for that very reason. And some of the books these days are upping their game with gorgeous covers and internal pages, well, that makes browsing and buying physical book more compelling than ever. Busy shopping center so while the parking lot is large, getting a spot at peak times may be a short walk to where you are headed. That said, this is a vibrant and living area. The bookstore benefits from that with many fellow book lovers seeking out their next loved story. What goes great with a new book? Coffee or tea! Maybe a treat as well. Enjoy this nice cafe with Starbucks drink offerings. Topping that off, you treat selection is more varied than most places. Quality offerings.
