Because I have to eat gluten-free for health reasons, I usually order our family celebration cakes GF so I can enjoy a slice too. Since they discontinued their GF cakes, I did end up purchasing a regular cake for his birthday so our guests could enjoy it- but sadly this means their cakes aren't inclusive for my own family's dietary needs when we want to share dessert together :( I still love Mayu's Bakery and will continue buying cakes and treats from them for other occasions, but I wanted to give fellow GF families a heads-up!

Not only was it impeccably decorated--it was beautiful, elegant, adorable, and meticulously crafted--but it tasted incredible, too. My whole family loved both flavors: the vanilla cake with strawberry jam and the chocolate cake with fudge. My mother-in-law, who doesn't usually eat cake, wanted to try the vanilla with strawberry jam. She loved it, finished an entire slice, and had the biggest smile on her face. My nephew kept telling everyone, "Oh my gosh, that fudge! You guys have to try that fudge!" Those were just a couple of the many rave reviews the cake received. Everyone was impressed by how beautiful it was and by the attention to detail. One of the employees at the restaurant even came over to ask about the cake, and I happily gave them Farzi's contact information. I'm a huge fan of Farzi's talent, but even more than that, I've been blown away by her kindness. She is incredibly easy to communicate with and an absolute delight to work with. I highly recommend Z&H Cakes. In fact, I'm already working with her again on a cake for my mother-in-law's 80th birthday! Just a bit bummed that the cake frosting cracked on the side, and I was also hoping for more mangoes and filling in the slices. Maybe a suggestion to add multiple layers, like a layered cake? The only note I have is that these are traditional pastries so they tend to have a slightly drier texture (bit the extremely gooey and super moist texture like in manufactured pastries) these are truly amazing paired with a coffee as they soak up coffee nicely. If you are a raspberry fan please GET ALL THE RASPBERRY pastries they have! The raspberry flavor is very natural and homemade .
