I have been to this establishment twice in the past 4 weeks and have had a similar experience both times I went. Before I delve into the details, you should know that I am severely lactose intolerant and have complete disregard for my own personal comfort and rarely weigh the consequences of my dietary choices. The first time I ordered a Thai Iced Tea and it was so delicious that I ordered another one. After two Thai Iced Teas both laden with condensed cream my stomach was feeling a bit queasy. I ordered the Pad Thai which was good enough to make me forget about my growing discomfort. It was on the drive home that I paid the price for the Iced Teas. I frantically pulled into the parking lot of a 7/11 begging the clerk for a key to their bathroom. Unfortunately, there was no restroom and I was forced to gingerly jog across the street to an artisan pizza restaurant where I was relieved to find a public restroom. I shamefully made my way back to my car sweating bullets as my girlfriend laughed at me from the front seat. As I drove away, I vowed to never make the same mistake again. Fast forward to this past weekend, I paid my second visit to Mayuree Thai Tavern. This time I ordered a noodle bowl that had the Thai word "Poo" in it because I thought it was funny and it seemed to represent my past experiences there. It was quite good and was served in an alarming 4 minutes and 38 seconds, needless to say, I would not be ordering another Thai Iced Tea. Despite avoiding any and all dairy at dinner, it wasn't long after I made it back to my girlfriends apartment that my stomach began making sounds reminiscent of an incident that occurred weeks earlier. Moments later I found myself in the women's restroom in the gym of the apartment building praying that the horrors of the bathroom stall could not be heard by my girlfriend vigilantly standing guard outside. I was confused and frustrated because I had not had any Thai Iced Tea or dairy that would have done this to my stomach but concluded that there must be a secret ingredient that does not agree with my stomach. Long story short, if you are like me and have a sensitive stomach, I would not recommend Mayuree Thai Tavern. However if you have a properly functioning digestive system you will love the food during AND after you eat it! read more

I order drunken noodles, tom yum soup and mango sticky rice almost weekly from Mayuree and it is always absolutely delicious. The pad Thai and chicken with cashew is also great. I ordered from UberEats. The wonton soup was the only item that was decent. This is not authentic Thai, and the other entrees I ordered were incredibly disappointing. I ordered sautéed eggplant. It was mostly other cheap veggies (carrots, peppers) with some slices of eggplant added. It also came swimming in some sauce. The other dish was a pork belly dish that was over fried, and all the fatty good bits were dissolved. There was too much seasoning and it was way too salty and oily (like soup, but instead of broth it was all oil) to enjoy. True authentic thai food with great flavors. Absolutely legit! I know a decent amount about Thai food (My panang curry is one of my specialties) and this place is the real deal. My guest and I had the tom kha soup which is based on lemon grass and coconut milk. Amazing! Personally I like a char on my chicken, not just boiled but that wouldn't be traditional. We had the vegetable spring rolls which weren't mind blowing but were fresh. (I've never expected to be blown away by spring rolls so this wasn't an issue) Main course was recommended by the bartender, the massaman curry. It came out with a side of rice and beans. Personally I would have preferred sticky rice, (NO!! Not the damn dessert BS. Plain and simple hot sticky rice!!) The beef was as advertised, melt in your mouth. The curry hit u in your face with developed flavor. Not overly spicy, just perfect for my pallet. I don't care for peanuts so I picked them out, but no big deal. My biggest pet peeve about a bar is not having a foot rest, so that was a little annoying. Also, they could definitely use some new, more comfortable bar chairs. Its still a soft opening so I won't knock them on little details like this though. I'm excited about this place. They plan to do delivery. Prices are very reasonable! Can't wait to go back! So my boyfriend and I have ordered from this place two times. The first time we ordered we were bummed that the bowls don't have much meat so the second time we ordered we ordered double meat to fix that. I really like the drunken noodle bowl due to its spice. The pad Thai is ok. The green curry is very spicy but I love that. Only a small amount of rice came with it though. The crab and cheese wontons are tasty but I'd probably go with a different dipping sauce for it. I wish we didn't have to pay extra for the meat. They really should consider putting a decent amount of meat in their dishes and not charging extra for it. Can they explain why the meat is so much more, is it organic? Also giving more rice for the curry dishes would be better so it can absorb up the curry. read more

Really delicious! I ordered take-out here -- got the papaya salad (asked for extra spicy), the pad thai, and the red curry. I thought that everything was good. The papaya salad was the right mix of sweet, sour, and spicy and definitely had a kick. The red curry was probably my favorite. It had pieces of kobucha squash that had been cooked down until it was tender. The curry itself was rich and flavorful. The pad thai was also very good. Pad thai at some (most? all?) of the other Thai places seems a bit bland. The pad thai here was incredibly flavorful. One thing to note is that they give you red rice, instead of regular white rice. I actually really liked the rice, but just an FYI, for when they bring the rice to you and it's a different color. My only complaints are that the portions are a bit on the small side, and while they were certainly generous with the chicken in the curry, they also could have added more of the squash (that or my friend who was sharing this with me ate all the squash...). read more

This place was empty when we went for dinner; go there so they stay open because the food and service is outstanding. From the outside, it looks less than impressive, or like a carry out stand. But inside, high exposed beam ceilings and brick walls decorated with local art surround a spacious dining area. The beer menu included local and unique choices. For an appetizer we started with the vegetable Thai empanadas. They were outstanding; lots of flavorful veggies with a hint of curry. The dipping sauce was uniquely flavored and filled with chunks of cold veggies. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken; also in this dish were assorted peppers, string beans, tomatoes and onions. It was piping hot and the flavor was perfect. Spicy, but not overwhelmingly so. My boyfriend got the pad Thai with tofu and it was equally pleasing; the spices were more subdued with a nutty flavor. Favorite dish: drunken noodles with beef. But watch out- there are string beans and Serrano peppers that look exactly like the beans (almost burned my mouth off after eating a forkful!) Really glad that Mayuree opened up in this part of town to provide Thai food. This may be my favorite Thai restaurant in Bmore, competing with Thai Arroy in Fed Hill! My party shared the papaya salad (delicious, can't go wrong with this!), chicken drunken noodle, tofu drunken noodle, and massaman curry. Even if you're a meat eater, try the tofu in your noodles-they looked much crunchier/meatier/juicier/delicious than regular ol' chicken or beef. Dessert was the coconut custard. So good. Came here yesterday with a bunch of friends to celebrate a birthday. Mayuree Thai is a brand new place that opened up on Fleet and Patterson Park Drive. Don't let the outside deceive you, the place is pretty swanky and new! In the front has a full bar with TVs and even a pool table in the basement. There's seating for full meals in the back and upstairs. I would come here for both a drink and for food! I ordered the chicken drunken noodles and many of my friends had the pad thai. Both were pretty well made, delicious, and served pretty quick for a large group. My only knock is that it is a little pricey for asian food, especially given some of the other thai restaurants in the area. However, I feel that the higher prices include the ambiance, service, and elevated dining experience. The staff was friendly and very receptive to feedback to try to kick start this new place. It's hidden and relatively unknown, but definitely worth a look if you're in the Baltimore City area. **Pro tip** - There's happy from 5-7 PM everyday! read more

Horrible. If you order a chicken entree, you will get pretty much a soup of onions and peppers with a small piece of chicken that you will have to search for. Not flavorful at all which is sad bc Thai food is known for robust flavors. Overly spicy to mask the lack of flavor. I rarely (slash never) downgrade a rating based solely on the cost of the food. Value matters, of course, but if the food is that good, I will pay...especially when there isn't a viable alternative. This has always been the case for Mayuree Thai. I've eaten here now several times (all delivery) and every time I totally love what I get. Don't get me wrong - it has always been overpriced - but I love (LOVE) Thai food and I will pay the premium to get the only decent one I've found thus far in this sorely Thai-deprived city. Unfortunately tonight Mayuree crossed the value line and I couldn't bear it any longer. Food: 4 stars Cost: 2 stars Value: 2 stars Average 2.5, and ok, I rounded up. But I almost didn't out of sheer annoyance...read on. My boyfriend and I ordered the Massaman Curry. This is THE MOST expensive item on the menu. As such, I expect to at least get a dinner-sized meal. But the 5 tiny cubes of beef, 3 carrots, and one slice of potato would not fill a 3-year-old-child. And it's the most expensive entree on the menu! WTF?! The Tom Yum soup is delicious, and the drunken noodles continue to be my go-to - so, moral of the story, I'll stick with that from now on. The appetizers are also pretty good but, again, way overpriced. At least they have substance (some of them more than their 3x as pricey counterpart). This place was on key and on point with flavors and ingredients. This is real Thai food. Parking is a pain. And when you ask for spicy, please tell them the stars - assume white people spicy stars. Their english isn't great and have messed up with the order before. But ordered later again - was fine. Also place is easy to miss. It's with a red awning. But in the dark there are no lights that light them up...so even easier to miss. It's next to an alley and there is a tree in front of it. I recently moved to Baltimore and have been seriously disappointed by almost all Asian food places in this city. Except this one. There is no frills about this place. It's a converted row home with a oddly placed bar in the front the seating for the restaurant in the back. You sit and the waitress promptly takes your order. 15-20 minutes later, the food arrives and it is very good. So far we have tried the pad Thai with shrimp, pad see yew with beef, Thai empanadas, Tom yum soup and thai ice tea. Everything I listed is excellent. Oh right the papaya salad- it's good but didn't have the beef jerky that I am used to. The service is solid- I usually judge the service by how long it takes a server to fill up my water glass. If the water level goes further down than half of the cup, I say that the service can be improved. My glass was almost always full. The only thing negative about this place is that it is a bit hard to find parking in the area. And don't go down the alley that is located next to the restaurant- there are two huge bumps that are so high that the bottom of your car will be scratched. read more
