Rasta Pasta w/ jerk salmon
Davina H.

I needed somewhere to stop for lunch after work. I found this place and thought it would be nice because I love Jamaican Food and they had a nice patio. Too bad it was a rainy day. The prices are higher but the food is well worth it. The Rasta pasta was delicious we tried both the oxtail and the salmon. Both were a 10/10. The drinks are nonalcoholic but very tasty. I would love to come back during a sunny day to sit out on the patio.

The new Chef Bobby Ds in Towson has been Grand Opening/soft opening for about a month. We've heard wonderful reviews of the food, but to expect a wait. And we have to concur. The jerk is delicious, on the mild side for jerk, but still warm and tingly. The peas were fresh and crisp and everything on top of the coconut rice was delicious. The chef was in and out of the kitchen occasionally and he was very friendly. The other staff was pleasant, but very subdued. We'll definitely come again, but only when we have lots of time, or nothing planned for after. It was lovely sitting outside and chatting with friends from the neighborhood.

Rasta Pasta w oxtail, butter beans, bell peppers & Parmesan- tasty, slightly spicy!

Stopped in yesterday to grab food to go w one of my friends. It's ample parking, very clean inside and decorated really cute! It started filling up with sitting patrons and orders to go around 6:30-7pm. Get there early bc they make your order fresh so it takes some time. Regardless of business being busy, the lady working the front was so friendly and had a nice vibe. She smiled and remained calm during pressure. I ordered the oxtails over Rasta Pasta-3.5/5 ($24) which was tasty (not greasy at all) the pasta was creamy and flavorful with a slight spicy kick. There was crunchy bell peppers added texture in which I enjoyed. The oxtail were big, soft and had yummy gravy. The bonus item was the fresh pineapple ginger drink!! It was refreshing and had the perfect ratio of both flavors. They also had a mango juice, iced tea and lemonade. My friend ordered the vegetarian bowl normally ($16) minus tomato & corn and added blackened salmon- 4/5 ($24 w salmon) The bowl came with rice & black beans, sliced avocado plus chickpeas in a sweet yellow sauce that was AMAZING!! That's all I'll say! I'll be back I'll be getting the order my friend had as it was much lighter. We ended up getting a slice of chocolate & red velvet cake. Kinda wished I tried the Lemon flavor bc it looked good. It didn't taste like they made it fresh on location so id save $6 per slice. I know I'll be going back in the near future for the reggae Jam coconut shrimp maybe and I recommend you go too! See y'all there

Jerk wings

This was my first time at Chef Bobby D's but it won't be the last! We tried jerk wings and reggae jam coconut shrimp for starters. Both were outstanding. The shrimp comes with coconut bread to sop up the delicious sauce. For our entrees, we had Jamaican Rasta pasta and penne duo blast pasta. The duo blast dish was ok but sauce could have been better seasoned. The staff were all so friendly and the dining area was clean and well stocked with condiments.

Oxtail Meal w/ Rice Pea and Plantains

Clean restaurant and seating area. Cashier was great in helping me make a decision of what I had a taste for. While they did not have any ginger beer, their Ting grapefruit side definitely was a great replacement. Food was fresh and delicious. The serving provided was enough for two people. I ordered the oxtail with extra gravy, rice and beans and plantain meal and coco bread. This was my first visit and definitely not my last!

The food is just regular. Mac and cheese was wack. Wings weren't just sitting in watery sauce. Go to Island Cuisine

Great jerk wings!! Was not a fan of their shrimp and grits, or lobster bisque though.

I met up with a dear friend of mine for lunch. She never had I.Q. before and I wanted her to try them out. I bought my favorite- brown stew chicken with rice and peas. She bought jerk chicken with rice and peas. As always, this place is always jumping! We came on a weekday, during the lunch hour. Although, we called our orders in beforehand, there was still a wait. This is kind of normal, so if you're in a hurry, you may be a bit frustrated. They definitely take their time. My friend asked for peppers to top her food with. What I assumed would be a quick 1-2 minute task seemed like almost ten minutes! After about 20 minutes, our orders were ready. This is NOT a dine in restaurant. It's a fairly small place. Although there's a small table with two chairs in the corner, this isn't a really place to sit and enjoy your food. You'd be more comfortable eating in your car. We grabbed our food and left, opting to eat at a nearby park. It was a beautiful spring day- a perfect setting to eat our lunch. Both of our dishes were absolutely delicious! So delicious that I forgot to snap a picture! Lol! The chicken in my brown stew chicken dish was sooo delightfully tender! The sauce was mildly sweet and flavorful. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her meal very much & vowed to come back. If you live in the Towson area and have a taste for some pretty good Caribbean food, Island Quizine will take care of you!

I have been looking for an authentic Ghanaian restaurant in Baltimore for years and have finally found it. The service is amazing, the owners son is always accommodating and friendly when he answers the phone and always pleasantly greets me when I walk in. Although I'd love to be able to eat here, I'd probably need a wheel barrow to leave so account for this being a to go experience with you favorite pillow and blanket nearby for the nap you'll need. I've been here several times before writing this review because it really felt like I was going to pick up food from aunties house and forgot, WHOOPS. I always get the same thing but my husband has ventured to the Caribbean menu and has gotten oxtails the size of his palm, twice- going above and beyond is clearly they're M O. The goat is always so perfectly cooked, flavorful and more than enough to last the whole meal. They really add a new meaning to Baltimore eating for me and I'm so grateful! I always recommend calling to place your order to ensure it's available because stuff sells out due to its amazingness!

Kudos to the owner for being such a delight! I ordered jollof rice with chicken and a beef patty (of course). Both were excellent but I have to shower the jollof rice with praise. As a Nigerian American, the struggle to find good jollof is real. I have to say that this Ghanian style jollof was quite good. I won't get into a whole thing about which country has the best jollof but I enjoyed this iteration quite a bit. I highly recommend checking out KSB when you're near Parkville.

In my opinion, finding good Jamaican food in the area has been a challenge. Often too sweet and not packing enough flavor. But Diasporan Soul has put that opinion to bed. When you walk into Diasporan Soul they have a very nice Afro-centric dining area as well as a sort of apothecary selection for patrons to browse and buy when the dining room is open. However, the night I stopped by they seemed to be doing only carry out, which you order in the back of the restaurant. My go-to order is always jerk chicken with cabbage, rice & peas, and a beef patty. And Diasporan Soul did not disappoint. The jerk chicken was smoky, seasoned well, and fall off the bone tender. However, next time I'll ask to have my chicken topped with some sauce because that would've definitely taken it over the top. The cabbage was buttery and cooked perfectly and the rice was delicious. The beef patty was actually one of the better beef patties I've had here in the area, with a decent amount of filling. If you're in the area or looking for a new Jamaican restaurant to try, then you have to give Diasporan Soul a try. The service was pleasant, and the food was delicious and plentiful. I can't wait for my next visit.
