I've been going here for years but given the change in management, I was a bit wary of returning. Spoiler alert: highly recommend still. I ordered the pan fried pork dumplings and it was almost the same as before. Bit less crispy and bit less juicy, but still satisfactory. The chili oil now has sesame seeds and more oil, but the spicy and depth of flavor remains the same. The menu and prices haven't changed, as well. They gave me a free mango jelly-like dessert as well, which was very kind. I'll head back to do my own comparisons of before and after but overall it seems like new management is maintaining the high standards, low wait times, and homey environment. Sooooo disappointed... ordered some of our favorite Mayflower dishes tonight and not one of them tasted right. Beef noodle soup had no flavor, pan fried buns tasted burnt, chow mein noodles tasted old. Even the boba was wrong, the mango tea was like at 200% sweet. Took a guess that maybe ownership changed, and it seems to be the case. Really a shame, their beef noodle soup used to be in our top 5 in LA/OC. read more

DO NOT COME HERE ! Never been treated like my money and my humanity was literal shit & disgusting until I ate here. The staff got upset about tipping to the point where we felt forced to leave do so, they said they wouldn't even touch it to put it in the tipping jar. Their body language their face full of disgust as if I were begging them to make me feel less than. I've heard the way they treat others customers that are not Asian but I didn't want to believe it. Rude, humiliating, and completely unprofessional. Came for dumplings and left feeling unwelcome. If you hate your customers this much, maybe don't run a restaurant there are plenty of better dumpling spots in OC that actually respect the people paying their bills rude ass. We were visiting Anaheim and craving dumplings and beef noodle soup when we came across Mayflower Dumpling Express. The restaurant itself is a decent size, clean, and pretty spacious. When we walked in, we were seated right away, which we appreciated. At first, we were a little confused because we were looking around for physical menus at the table. After a moment of awkwardly glancing around, we asked and were told that ordering is done at the front. The menu is displayed on the screens when you walk in, so just a heads up for first timers. The food was decent overall, but nothing really stood out to us. It satisfied the craving, but it was more of a solid, average meal rather than something we would go out of our way for. One highlight was that she kindly let us try some mango pudding. That was actually really good and refreshing, especially after a warm bowl of noodle soup. It had a nice mango flavor and smooth texture. A few chunks of fresh mango would have made it even better. I truly don't know where to start! My girlfriend and I discovered this place not too long ago and we have been coming here ever since! The service is 1000/10, the lady that is always at the front is super sweet! The inside is really nice and super clean as well! OK, to start coming inside as a first timer was very awkward and kind of confusing. When we walked inside, there were people sitting down and we saw food getting brought to them. The worker did not acknowledge us and we stood there, trying to figure out do we have a seat and they come to us? Do we wait and have them tell us where to sit or do we order out front? It wasn't until I approached the worker and asked that we were finally given an answer of you order upfront and have a seat anywhere. The restaurant was very clean and mostly quiet with faint sound of the TV in the background playing a war movie. To start off with the three things that we love the most was the walnut shrimp, the cucumber salad, and garlic broccoli. The walnut shrimp just might be the best one I've ever had. The shrimp pieces itself were huge! The coating they use on it, was very crispy despite being covered in the sauce. It came with a little bit of cabbage underneath it, which was a nice little touch. It alone would make me go back. The cucumber salad, had such a good flavor with a nice twist of some sort of chili pepper! It wasn't overbearing the spice level, but if you had a couple back-to-back, the heat was lovely building up!! This is my first time ever having some sort of salad like that and definitely changed the game for me. The next one was just mainly a health choice; the broccoli, and we always love it when someone does a basic right! The broccoli was nice and tender with a little bit of a crunch and had a lot of garlic on it so it tasted amazing. Very happy there. Moving on to the soup dumplings themselves the main reason why we went. We were very disappointing with them. Majority of them did not have any sort of liquid in them. We were grabbing them very gently to make sure they weren't ripping, looking at them to confirm no rips then taking a bite to see how much liquid were in them and a lot of them were bone dry. The flavor of the dumpling itself was very good; packed with a lot of meat, but no soup. Moving onto the beef onion dumplings that were pan fried. They were delicious, no complaint from us here; we were still satisfied with them. Looking aside the confusion at the start of the experience if the soup dumplings actually had soup this place would've been 100% gotten five stars. Everything else we experience was very pleasurable. It met our standards however that element itself is something we cannot look past, combine with the start is a reason why we gave it four stars instead of five. Something to know is that you are required to clean up after yourself so make sure you bring up your plates! We will be returning, however, we know what to order now! read more
