However, I went in today to place an order for a small gathering and the entire interaction was so odd. When we arrived, there was a man and a woman packing orders and they said it was to-go only. They blocked off the entrance and asked what we wanted, but we took one look around the inside and left. There was clutter everywhere and it just felt off. We looked up the health score feature on Yelp and saw they were recently closed due to some health code violations. 5 stars for the great customer service. I wouldn't say this is a restaurant as much as it is a large kitchen and you can order your food to go. The words Maui Rose is almost misleading. You'd expect a Hawaiian restaurant, but it is mainly Korean and Japanese food. They have spam musubi on their menu, but a lot of the rest is Galbi, tempura, katsu, and various types of sushi. The dining tables were all pushed together to use as a counter to make homemade kimchi by the owner. I didn't get the name of the owners but they are husband and wife. I was really impressed with the lady and when her husband came in after she gave us our food, he spoke with us. He said when he first came to the US from Korea, he landed in Hawaii and made that his home, briefly, then joined the US Army. I was super impressed. As we waited and looked around, it seemed that they mainly do catering services, hence why she had so many bulk packages of kimchi and containers. The lady also gave us a huge portion of her kimchi to go, for free. We thanked her for her kindness and thanked her husband for serving our country. We got unagi (eel) and Galbi. They don't have fountain drinks but they do serve cold soda in cans. read more

As a self proclaimed katsu fanatic, I can say with confidence that this place is bomb.com. The tonkatsu was lightly breaded and fried perfectly...tender yet crispy. The highlight (for me) the katsu sauce. Tasted homemade and even had ground toasted sesame seeds on top. I don't know what Covid has done to other restaurants, but I get jipped of sauce every time I order a katsu. Not only did this place drizzle their delicious sauce on the katsu, they even gave me an extra container without me asking. Also the udon, sushi rolls, bulgogi, techi bulgogi, kalbi, etc. looked dank and their prices are reasonable, portions large. It's a mom & pop and just do worth a try. read more

They tried to over charge me on several items that were labeled completely incorrect, and when I brought it to their attention they told me "prices have changed". I walked in and put a to-go order around 4:30pm. the shop is very small, but the tables were nice and clean. It was a hot day, but inside was nice and cool. The owner was very sweet; I put in my order: the #55 Kalbi short ribs / pork cutlet combo and a teriyaki chicken plate. The order went in fast, you could smell that the food was going to be good. I liked that my Kalbi ribs weren't covered in sickly-sweet sauce. it was bright and acidic and the portion were very nice. you could taste that the pork cutlet was fried in fresh oil -- it tasted very clean. and my father really liked the chicken teriyaki. I thought my order was very good. I'm excited to try more food from them soon. read more

I'm usually not a fan of alot of teriyaki places' side salads but theirs was so good and the dressing paired nicely with the teriyaki chicken (I'm a fan of hawaiian food so it was similar to Mac salad flavor). After the disappointment of discovering that Eat My Bowl was closed, this placed showed up on Yelp. Well I guess we'll give it try. :l While it was by no means bad, nothing was fantastic. For $10, I got full off of the combo that included miso soup, rice, salad, kalbi beef, chicken katsu, and crunch roll. It was all good, but nothing really to write home about. When one orders shrimp tempura udon, one normally expects at least 2 large shrimp tempura inside of the udon. Maui Rose Hawaiian BBQ however does not see it this way and only serves one singular shrimp tempura with the udon. It wasn't even that big. Needless to say we laughed in a nervous WTF sort of way. Its kind of far away from where we are, so I wouldn't see us returning because of the distance, and the food wasn't mind-blowing like other places we've been to where we're willing to go the extra mile to get it. I cannot understand why this place doesn't have more reviews. Thank you to NIcole L! I was tired of L&L and the Loft seems to have given up on putting flavor into anything. We eat Hawaiian often (my wife is from Oahu) and this is by far the best place we've found. I only wish I could have eaten more, but I will be back! Tonight we had the Kalbi, the Teriyaki Chicken, Spicy pork, and the Katsu. We also added on the Mango Avocado salad. Everything was delicious and they even threw in some free California Rolls. Next time though I think I am going for the Spam and Egg Fried Rice and some Spam Musubi. All meals came with rice, salad, and Miso Soup. The above fed 5 people comfortably with enough leftovers for two more lunches. Total cost was $37 which I think is a bargain for great Hawaiian food. read more

Maui Rose is technically Hawaiian, but Hawaiian is really just a term for Asian Fusion. They've got everything from Japanese to Korean to Chinese in this place... and it's all yummy with decent prices and huge portions. The menu is fairly large and with all the comibnations they offer it gets up to something like 70 different menu options. My favorite is the Kalbi (Korean BBQ). Theirs is juicy and salty and sweet all at the same time. Their tempura is surprisingly good too. It's a little heavy on the batter, but the batter is tasty! The salad that comes with the combinations has a great ginger dressing. It's one of my favorite parts of the meal. The service is good too. The first time I went there, a lady showed up with her two young daughters. They ordered miso soup, which the waitress dropped off at their table while the mom was still paying at the counter. So one of the little girls picks up the soy sauce bottle and dumps about half a cup of soy sauce into the bowl. My aunt and mom were watching the whole thing and then watched as the restaurant replaced the salt-water soup. Not that a cup of miso soup costs a lot, but it was nice of them to replace it for free. Maui Rose has become one of my family's favorite go-to places for quick, cheap, yummy Hawaiian food. You should go there too! read more
