We have used Mayfair twice now since moving to Needham. Both times, my husband has dropped off & picked up, as he works closer to home. I was thoroughly impressed when we recently brought in my puffy jacket. It came in covered in chicken, as I had picked up some chicken breasts at BJs, only to have the "juice" spill ALL OVER the front of my jacket and the sleeves. Disgusting. The jacket went straight to the cleaners. It had also gotten some stains on it from Home Depot the previous week, so a cleaning was definitely needed. Mayfair said the jacket would be ready in 3 days, but when my husband went to pick it up, they said they hadn't been able to get all the stains out and were keeping it a bit longer so they could work on it and would call when it was ready. I was really impressed by that service! They never called, unfortunately, but my husband went back a few days later and it was ready. I did notice one small stain still there, but I don't blame them - Home Depot stains (most likely grease) are impossible to get out! Mayfair is our new dry cleaner! absolutely worst quality of dry cleaning.. this was my first time trying this place out. Typically I go in Boston at French Cleaners but wanted to try something a little bit more convenient I asked for the shirts to be folded pressed with extra starch. Out of the 10 shirts, 2 looked like they were pressed, collars were very wrinkled I'm sure I would get the same results if I did them myself I brought it to the attention to the older gentleman/ owner and he seemed really indifferent. he said it was the best he could do. He said he does thousands of shirts every day for 48 years which I didn't really care. I was really only interested in the shirts I was paying for and my finished results Instead of offering to try to redo them and make it right he just basically insulted me and told me I was there to complain I was there because I was looking to find a local dry cleaners and had actually brought more shirts to drop off to him. I never thought the quality would be as bad as it was clearly I'm just going back to French cleaners. read more

Pretty awful experiences here. 1) Brought a few pairs of pants to get shortened. Young lady quoted me $8 a piece, which sounded great. But when I went to pick them up, an older woman (the owner, I think) told me it was $20 each. I said the other lady told me $8/each. The response? "That's why she's not here anymore". Not my problem that the quote was off! And I still had to pay the $20 each! 2) I went in to get more pants shortened. They said it was $20; I asked if they can do $15 to match another local tailor. She reluctantly agreed. A few days later, I get them back and they were done VERY poorly - the bottom of the legs were not cut but instead were folded over and then sewn together. Great Dry Cleaners for clothing as well tailoring. I have started bring my clothes here a little over a year ago and i have not been disappointed. For cleaning the prices are reasonable especially since they use eco-friendly detergents and they even were able to take dried paint off a jacket sleeve that accidentally grazed a wall with wet paint. For tailoring i brought in a suit for a wedding that i needed to have tailored. The woman there did an amazing job and she was even able to take in my dress shirt and make it more fitted. Now i just need to bring over the rest of my suits and dress shirts. read more

I had been bringing my dry cleaning here for the past few months. So far, just ok. Did it mostly bc it was convenient. You CANNOT ask for rush service. It doesn't exist here. Luckily, I have more clothes at home! This time, I dropped off 3 pairs of identical pants (one blue, one white and one black)..all your typical dress slacks with the crease down the pant leg. When I picked them up and brought them home, only the blue and white pants were pressed down the middle of the pant leg..it's normal crease BUT the black pair was pressed FLAT, no crease. I brought the black pair back to have them iron the crease down the pant leg (you can actually see it!) and was told it will be done at no charge and can get it in 3 days. I picked it up and was told they COULD NOT do the crease down the middle after all because it would ruin the style of the pant. WHAT?? I even showed them the faint crease that was there and they insisted they couldn't. As a customer, if I ask for a press down the middle as how I dropped them off originally and you tell me it would ruin the pant style but yet you had no issues pressing the other two identical pants..? I don't even know how to make of it. You just lost a regular customer. Dumb. read more

The service is very decent and very affordable. I paid $8 for cleaning a blouse and $16 for a coat. Everything is well organized and the prices are just right. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is just sometimes it's a little longer service than expected. I didn't have anything tailored there but they seem to be good and neat. Recommended. read more

first i went to pick up dry cleaning & they were open but door locked and no one there..all the way across town and had to go back hrs. later, i went back took my cleaning and the man was huffing & snarling as i was checking to make sure my sweater was clean & stain free as this has happened before to all of us im sure! writing this for my husband he didnt want to say anything but i think this should be said, my husband is BLACK and he was going to volunteer at a hospital in Boston and on his way he had some dry cleaning he was bringing to the MAYFAIR DRY CLEANERS, he threw it in a TRADER JOE'S grocery bag and left. he told me when he walked in he said good afternoon to the man inside and the man said what did i want and whats in the bag as if he had a weapon in the trader joe's bag. my husband said i looked at him confused and told the man uhhhh i have some things i want dry cleaned. but thanks if you have a problem serving BLACK PEOPLE in your establishment i will take my business elsewhere. Not trying to sound over sensitive but he should;ve considered it a privilege that we would choose to bring our dry cleaning to him. thereare many around you know. I just wish that people would start to treat us all the way we should be and not just because you stiuck a freaking little sign in your yard that says BLACK LIVES MATTER. This place is SUPER expensive. And to add insult to injury all of my items still had stains on them.

Not sure about this place as a cleaners, but don't get alterations here- in April 2011 they charged me less than other places, but screwed up my dress and when I went back were extremely defensive about it. I'd rather pay double and not have to deal with it. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE!! I brought a dress in on Monday and asked the woman if it were possible to have it ready by Wednesday morning as I needed it for an event Wednesday night. She said no problem and set it to be ready for Tuesday afternoon and took my phone number down. At that point, I was happy with the service. I went in Wednesday around noon and the same woman said that it wasn't ready because it had to be sent back because something didn't come out. I know for a fact I didn't bring the dress in with anything on it, I just needed it cleaned. I asked why she didn't call me to tell me that since she said (and the ticket said) it was supposed to be ready Tuesday at 3pm. She said 99.9% of the time they doing call customers to tell them it wouldn't be ready by the time it was supposed to and no other customer in her "40 years of business has ever complained that they hadn't been called if the clothing wasn't ready by the time it was supposed to be, they just say they understand, thank you and come back later." I told her I found that a little hard to believe. I said I needed to know ASAP when the dress would be ready and she said she would call me within the hour. EXACTLY one hour later she called me and said it was ready. When I went back in, a younger girl was helping me while the woman helped someone else. She told me that would be $16 so I brought out my card to pay but first I asked where it had been. The older woman came around the corner and in a combative way she said the main place and then asked what else I needed. I said I thought she owed me an apology. She said that she had apologized to me "millions of times" when I had been in the hour before (she hadn't). I told her "you know what I don't think I should pay for this" and before I could finish she took the dress off the rack it was hanging on and basically threw it at me and said about four times that was my point the whole time and to take my dress and just go. I said I would have happily paid for the dress had this whole thing not had happened. I told her "the customer is always right" and walked out. This was all in front of another customer. When I took the dress out of the bag, it still smells like the sweat I smell on myself, so clearly it hadn't even been cleaned. read more

When I moved here I tried a lot of cleaners and found MAYFAIR CLEANERS to be the best. The staff is friendly, courteous and professional, Mayfair offers FREE PICKUP & DELIVERY and you can find coupons on there web site. The added bonus is there is a Starbuck's, CVS, Trader Joe's, Resturants and the Post Office all within walking distance on Highland Ave. But the bottom line is our cleaning and laundry always comes out perfect...and at a very fair price. These people do not care about their service. I had put my clothes for laundry twice. Took more than a week to get it done. Also I was promised delivery but never delivered. Second time when I called, the lady told me that she will send someone immediately to deliver and guess what when I checked later in the afternoon, the clothes were still not delivered. This was my first time sending dry cleaning to Mayfair, but the whole experience was great! The workers were very nice and I gave them 2 white winter coats which accumulated quite a few stains we weren't otherwise able to get out and they were returned as if we just bought them. Couldn't have asked for more! And this was all because we saw a Groupon for this business. I would definitely go back with other items and for alterations. read more
