We arrived for lunch at noon and met another couple. We were promptly greeted & seated. Our waters were delivered in short order & Alana took our order. She met all of the scouting traits: courteous, kind, & very helpful among other things. Our food came to us in a timely fashion - cooked as ordered. All was well & we will return when in that area. read more

Simple family style place. Good breakfast with really friendly service. My coworker loved the breakfast burrito and it was HUGE! If you want a good breakfast at a reasonable price, give Mayberry a try. read more

As a big Andy Griffith fan my whole life, this cafe was so neat! And the food was incredible. Loved that they've been able to stick with the theme after all these years and that the food has remained top in Elkhart for 20+ years. And the waitresses were so sweet and definitely go above and beyond. read more

The food and the service were very good. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. The waitress was very nice and gave us time to check the menu as this was our first time there. The food came out as ordered and was good. The reasons for two stars is while we were dining the owner, I think he was, was sitting at a table near the register. He had a big pile of food order checks from the waitresses he was looking at and going over. He had a waitress standing there and questioning her. When we went to the register to pay, we were right next to them and could hear what was being said. He was questioning her on two different tickets. He was asking her about a customer wanting extra gravy. She told him the customer stated he wanted more gravy. He then rudely asked if she charged him. She answered yes and showed himself. Then he asked her another question, he got up to check us out, and you could tell she was uneasy and looking over the ticket he asked about. I thought this was very unprofessional in his part. We felt uncomfortable standing there and I know she felt the same. The second reason is the restrooms. What a mess. There needs to be some remodeling in the women's. A commode has been removed and a new one installed. The flooring where the old one was has the pipe filled, but the mess is not covered up. There is room for a small table or something, so maybe put one there. The floors and walls were dirty and dusty as well. You can see the cut through wall behind the new commode and where the old one was. My husband said the men's restroom was just as bad. read more

Being from NC and growing up watching Mayberry on TV with my grandpa, this was a fun flas back. They had a classic country breakfast and I had some yummy hash browns and my gf loved her biscuits and gravy. read more

Food was fast and excellent and the service was even better. My new favorite restaurant in the Elkhart and Goshen area.

Perfect breakfast spot with great skillets! Super fast, amazing service, and did I mention great skillets?!

Great food! Excellent service! The menu was easy to navigate. My one concern, however, was the condition of the female bathroom. It was very dirty and unpleasant. That being said, the inside decor was quaint & homey. I enjoyed the Andy Griffith decorations! read more

Worth the short drive off I-80 to get some good homemade food. I got the tex mex scramble with chorizo, potatoes and topped with fried eggs. The tastes and flavors were excellent. My friends got the stuffed croissant and burger. The stuffed croissant was basically a croissant with a bunch of eggs in the middle of it. It was very tasty and good. The burger was also huge and delicious. Portions are big and the service was spectacular. The decor is a little dated and traditional, but who cares when the food is so good. Just adds to the atmosphere of traditional American cooking. We will be back if we are passing through. read more

We like to dine in local diners while traveling. Food was okay yet the environment needs uplifting; especially there restrooms!

The best breakfast place in Elkhart. If a place can make French toast and pancakes then they can make anything. The French toast is perrrfect. The chocolate chip pancakes are to die for. Love this place. read more

Clearly a local hotspot for breakfast! A busy parking lot and entrance is usually a good sign so we thought we'd check it out on our way through town. The George's skillet and classic eggs and hash browns were of delicious diner heaven. Great value- plentiful plates and old school diner prices. The only reason it's not a 5 star is the dated, unkempt atmosphere... they are obviously making bank so spend some $$ on updating your dining room. read more

Best lunch I've had in ages. Home cooked food with wide variety. HOT fresh soups. The Turkey Manhattan was so good. We want to go back for breakfast. The waitress was a sweetheart and recommended the local favorites. We left full and happy. Definitely a must visit if you're in town! read more

This was a huge surprise in that not only was the food homemade, it was fresh and good. I had biscuits instead of toast (no problem with change orders) eggs and tender potatoes. Food came out hot and fast. Service was just as good as our breakfast. Our coffee cups did not go dry and the place was very clean. It is worth the drive off the I80, takes about 13 minutes into the older part of town but make your way there and you won't regret it. read more

Love this place! Always great for breakfast. Fast and good! It's a popular breakfast place on the weekends so there might be a wait.

Country fried steak was delicious and not over cooked. Everything was yummy and good prices for all the food you get. Wait staff was very attentive making water glasses stayed filled. read more

I would recommend this place for breakfast. Visiting from out of town and happened onto this place. Even though busy the waitstaff does not miss a beat. My coffee was never empty and the food was amazing. The breakfast burrito was all I could eat! Excellent place highly recommended! read more

We have eaten here 4 or 5 times now and every time we have received excellent service by more then friendly staff. The personnel bend over backwards to make sure we are taken care of, filling our water glasses or coffee cups to serving our meals. The food has been excellent with more then ample portions, never having to wait more then a reasonable time for any Item. Our wait staff were friendly and at times humorous. The price for the meal service and atmosphere is the best deal in town. Highly recommend this good home cooking eatery to everyone. Gene D read more

It's an amazing family restaurant the people are amazing the food is amazing I love this place all around it's my daily go to

Seems hit or miss. I'd eat there again but wouldn't go out of my way to get there. If they could get consistent it'd be a great place.

Usually have a good experience at Mayberry. However, today was different. I ordered the house salad ($7.45), and asked to add sliced chicken breast. The salad was good, but only came with the equivalent of about 2-3 oz of sliced chicken breast. When I received the check, the upcharge for chicken was $5.95, which is quite excessive (especially when you can order a chicken sandwich or chicken breast dinner for $7.95, or a chicken Caesar salad for $8.95). While paying the bill at the counter I asked if the charge was correct. I was told it was. I feel the server should have alerted me to the significant upcharge. I asked why it was so costly compared to the Chicken Caesar salad, and was told 'because the house salad has cheese on it'. Hmmm. Doesn't seem quite right. I left quite frustrated, and won't be returning. read more

Go elsewhere 20 minutes and no service got up and left. Will not return. If they were busy can understand. Buss boy brought us water. That was it after 20 minutes. read more

Working in Elkhart and we came across this restaurant in a somewhat older "strip shopping plaza". Don't let the outside fool you, give this place a try if you are looking for some large portions of real home cooked food. I got the chicken finger dinner which came with 4 chicken fingers, salad or soup and two sides and dessert for $8.99. I got enough food for two people, and it was very good. The chicken fingers appeared to be two breasts, butterflied and lightly breaded to arrive at the 4 "fingers". I brought two home to show my wife and to eat for another meal. The sides and salad were fresh and good and I was so full I could not eat more than a couple of spoonfuls of the rice pudding, which was not firm enough for my taste. All in all a good experience and a great value. read more

The place to go for breakfast food all-day. Service is prompt and friendly. Menu selection is excellent and consistently good.

Usually a good place to eat. Food is normally really good.service is usually top notch. But we went there oct.3. got seated waited for 10 minutes a dropped of water. After 15-20 minutes another guy asked if we wanted coffee. All the meantime a table seated after us was already getting there food our waitress had not been to our table at all. Another table seated after us had there order in. There hostess at the front desk/ cash register looked over at us a few times. I finally said it's time to go elsewhere. read more

Great service food came out fast . Following all covid guidelines felt safe. Food was delicious best breakfast in awhile

Lisa was our server and she made our experience so great! She was so sweet and understanding that our twins are and handful and helped us out as much as she could which meant a lot to us! the food came out very fast, the only complaint i have is the quality of the food was not as great but the prices were very very low so you get what you pay for! read more

AMAZING!! I have very high expectations when it comes to Customer Service and Cleanliness of a Food Establishment. I pay good money for my food and so I expect what I pay for. I get concerned about the slackness and sloppiness of people with the health and well being of their patrons. When I find a place that exceeds my expectations as this place, I am ecstatic. This restaurant has it all going on!! Great Friendly Service!! Fantastic Food!! Huge Portions!! CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN everywhere!! Not one sticky or dirty utensil, menu, or dish. Hot Syrup and Flavored Creamers served to the table. Our coffee cups never ran dry. The owner was visible and stopped by our table for a quick chat. The condition of the furniture, equipment and the building was TOP Notch!! Clean and Classy as well as very Clean Restrooms!! and a Bowl of Chocolates at the Register to enjoy as paid our bill and walked out the door. From start to finish, everything about this restaurant said, "Thank You" for coming. We felt valued and respected as patrons. We may never have the privilege to come back because, we are just passing through as we travel, but if we come anywhere close, we will be back. read more

Hidden gem! their breakfast and lunch menu is beyond good.a tad bit pricey for waffles but they are so worth it

Don't take too long to eat your breakfast on a busy morning....the owner will come over to your table and tell you that he needs you to leave because he "really needs the table." Nevermind the fact that you are still waiting on your carry-out order and the waitress hasn't even brought your check yet. I couldn't believe it! I've never been treated so rudely! Not to mention the outdated decor and dirty bathrooms. Do yourself a favor and go to The Golden Egg instead. read more

Great spot and a locals favorite. Menu selection was broad with daily specials. Hamburger steak was great and the service fantastic. Definitely will return and try other menu items. Enjoyed the Mayberry theme and the locals. read more

Great service and food. Breakfast skillets have real fresh veggies and real cheddar cheese. Pancakes are excellent (TRY THE BLUEBERRY). Always full coffee cup. Don't judge this book by its cover. The place looks like you may actually be back in Mayberry and based on color choices for the furnishings it would benefit from actually being in black and white. Highly recomend!!! read more

Nice place for some hearty breakfast. I mainly come here for their pancakes because they make em big, nice & fluffy. Service is pretty decent and most waitresses are always checking to refill coffee. The wait for a table is not awfully long - usually there is a good flow of people going in and out. read more

My great aunt and I go here almost every week. We spent time going other places but have never felt well taken care of anywhere else. When you are seated at Mayberry, there is normally someone who brings you water immediately and basically beats you to the table. Coffee is followed immediately after and refills are numerous and prompt every time. The wait staff has always done an excellent job. We've been here plenty of times and only had something go wrong once but it was fixed immediately. It was awesome and is always awesome! We love this place! read more

This place is delicious. I had the mayberry omelette; green peppers, onions, mushrooms and melted cheese, with a side of hashbrown. My wife had french toast with strawberries, they looked delicious. LOVE this place! It's my only satisfying breakfast in the area! I usually order the Farmer's omelet, which is amazing! Good food for a good price! I went there for lunch. Service was fast and courteous. You won't go away hungry!

First, the service was fantastic. The best service from the "waiters" to the "busboys" I've seen in any restaurant. Drinks were always filled. The waitress admitted that we weren't her section up front and apologized if she forgot us. BTW, she never did and we never felt slighted. The busers had the tables cleared before the people that stood up had paid their bill. I had a breakfast skillet. It was great. It had more bacon than potatoes and eggs, and I love bacon. The only down side was my husband's brunch. He got the club sandwich and onion rings. The rings we're kinda greasy and I had more bacon in my skillet than he did in a blt. But he said the broccoli soup was really good. read more
