    Bfast time!
    Maya A.

I came here with my extended family for breakfast. My sister's mother-in-law, Monica, was raving about how awesome this place was and it was a must for us to consume some deliciousness here. My husband I are a fan of diners, so we were stoked. We were not disappointed at all by the food. My sister and split a steak and eggs, because Monica told us the portions were huge! No joke, you really do get a lot of bang for your buck here! We couldn't even finish our meal between the two of us. The coffee is also great, they keep it coming the whole time. We totally needed it, LOL. The prices are what blows my mind!!! You get a ridiculous amount of food for the price you pay, I was in awe. All of us really enjoyed our food and the service here. I felt like someone was going to have to roll me out the door based on how much food I had. There is also a restroom at the entry, for those who always needs to pee, like my husband. If you are looking for a REAL diner with awesome food at an amazing price, this is it!!!

This is the kind of place you hope to happen upon in your travels…read more We were staying at the Spalding Lakes Campground and noticed in their reviews that many of the guests who has stayed for any extended period of time raved about Rise n' Shine. We were sold. When we drove up and saw the parking lot nearly filled to capacity we knew that was a very good sign. Things just kept going up, up, up from there. Friendly Michigan folks holding the door open for us as we walked up. Offering up suggestions of what was good to eat when we inquired. Being greeted by a friendly hostess, visited by Angel, the owner, and a super friendly waitress. They really do a great job at making you feel welcome. Hearty, home style cooking done very well at a super fair price. I got the chicken fried steak with homemade sausage and gravy, eggs, red potatoes and toast. The perfect amount of food to get you through a full morning without giving you way too much. The hubby got the eponymously named Rise n' Shine breakfast with bacon, sausage, eggs, red potatoes and a biscuit and sausage gravy. The bacon was perfectly smoky and the single biscuit and gravy half filled the entire breakfast plate. I'm not a biscuits and gravy type of gal but this plate would make anyone reconsider that stance. I highly recommend Rise n' Shine. Angel stopped and chatted with us and made us feel like long lost friends. The people here like their jobs and make you feel special for stopping by. Whether it is your first or 300th visit.

We put in our drinks in and weren't sure what we wanted and asked for a few minutes. She returned to give us our drinks, which she also messed up on bc she couldn't remember what we asked for and we were still unsure what we wanted so we put in our kids order. She came back again and got our order. Then she just disappeared. You couldn't flag her attention one bit. Our drinks were empty, still couldn't flag her down. Finally the food came out but not like we had ordered. Like stated above we put in our children's order since they were hungry and we were still unsure. Yet all the food came out at the same time. Not only that but we asked for our eggs over hard and when they came to us they were over easy, simple mistake that can be fixed right? Nope, the person cooking loudly said, "you can't cook these any harder." Wow, well I'm sorry but they were clearly overeasy and my autistic niece is very particular about not having runny eggs. Our waitress was hardly around still and after that we got the check bc they had also forgot our bacon. No apologies or anything for the mistakes. Definitely won't be back. So rude. Paying over 70 for that and the kids were still hungry.

We had friendly and attentive service and the food came out hot and quickly. There is a small patio out front on the sidewalk with three or four tables. This place was bustling!! It seems like a very popular spot! We just had the two of us and were seated at a small two person table between two other close tables - located alongside a long booth bench against the wall that breaks up into individual seating spots. This was totally fine for our breakfast that morning but it's not something I'd prefer if you like your privacy in conversation or otherwise. ;) The service was slow to start but after our waitress came she was mostly attentive the rest of our meal. We ordered 2 coffees. These were stronger and much more delicious than your average "diner cup"!! The staff offered a couple of refills throughout our time. I really loved the simplicity of the menu! There are options with a great variety, but it's still concise and not overwhelming!! Our dishes came out within 10 minutes of ordering, extremely fast and was surprising! My husband ordered the Huevos Rancheros with chorizo and he enjoyed it! The flavors were bold and the plate was pleasing to the eyes except for the avocado which was looked like it was quickly turning. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and had super high expectations for this entree!! It looked so beautiful upon arrival but when I began eating I quickly realized the dish was quite cool! My first half came with a well done poached egg which was disappointing. The second piece was cooked perfectly but was also just not very warm. The hollandaise sauce had wonderful flavor, but again, just wasn't warm - it seemed like the dish had maybe been sitting. I think this dish could be outstanding at the right temperature!! The potatoes that accompany this entree were a little dry for my liking but my husband thought they were good!! :) We noticed other tables with special lattes and several parties being served decadent looking sweet breakfast options - those all looked delicious!! There was a super kind and outgoing waitress serving nearby tables, explaining all kinds of special choices, like lovely latte options that were being offered that morning. The way she so kindly described everything sounded delicious but unfortunately our waitress didn't welcome our table with that same level of hospitality. What we saw being ordered by those nearby was met with great happiness when it arrived to them!! :)

This is such a quaint little spot!…read more We were working our way through the backroads, heading toward the lakeshore on a recent late morning when we came across this cute diner. You are invited to place your order at the counter and then find a seat while you wait for your meal to be brought out. My husband ordered an omelet. It was a special for the day. I went with the corned beef hash breakfast plate. The omelet my husband ordered was very plain. Sparse ingredients and he noticed a plate being placed in a microwave, seemingly to melt the cheese. This is not something we love to see. The omelet also did not include hash-browns, which was not specified. In our opinion the price point would have been better represented with the addition of some breakfast potatoes, alongside! :) My corned beef plate was very tasty!! It came with corned beef, two eggs, breakfast potatoes and delicious toast! We also enjoyed fresh jam - request this if it's not offered to you as they have regular, pre-packaged smuckers on the table, but fresh jam in the cooler! :) The staff were all super kind and helpful!
