    BBQ ribs

Cozy little bar with the best ribs in town. That crown was worn by Jojos, but sadly they are no longer in business. Maya Coves BBQ is a close second. Fall off the bone. Really good sized Buffalo wings too. Good food, great service.

Fish, chips & Smoked Brisket Sandwich

Could smell the smoke from driving by, so we decided to stop in. Great idea! Best fish & chips I've had in a while. Served smokin' hot with a great crispy batter. Hubs enjoyed his brisket sandwich. BBQ sauce is like wine; you like what you like. Since he makes/sells his own sauce, it's hard to find something to compare. They did a good job & definitely worth a return trip! Sorry about not having a "before" pic. It looked so good when it came to the table, eating was the only option!

    Mac N Cheese

Had the 2 meat combo plate the meat had no seasoning it was smoked very well didn't have any kind of seasoning to it. Mac n cheese and fried pickles were good but the meat having no seasoning to it just put a bad taste in my mouth. And what really got me was that I had one drink and some chips and queso which was good and then I had the 2 meat combo and it came up to 42$. To me the quality was not there for the price that they are charging. If the meat wasn't so bland it would have been worth it.

The best sports bar around. The atmosphere is amazing, food is excellent and the staff is very friendly.

    Green chili

If you wrote one star you picked the wrong place, place is representative of the south welcoming, great food, green chili was spot on, cheap beer. Insides a true sports bar with a pocket stadium seating section for close group. Awesome, watch games close up get loud no worries If you don't like it, maybe you the problem

Salad with nail polish remover dressing

I went here because I had a coupon. There was one waitress working the whole restaurant, that is so messed up! I sat in the back which smelled like cleaner because it was right next to the back kitchen which didn't have a door. When I got my salad, I tried their mango dressing and it no joke tasted exactly like nail polish remover. Since there was only waitress I didn't see her again until I got my coconut shrimp. Once I got my coconut shrimp it was so deep fried and oily there was no coconut flavor because the few flakes were so burnt and my frozen shrimp fell right out of the fried casing.

We got the chicken pot pie, quarter rotisserie chicken, and salmon quinoa cakes. Rotisserie chicken is a must order! Very juicy and delicious. Eh. Over recent years, I've had very hit and miss experiences at the downtown Austin's. Yesterday…read morewas another disappointing miss. We stopped in for a late lunch, arriving around 2. We started with a beer for my husband and a mocktail for me. The mocktail (blueberry lemonade) was simply not worth the $7 price tag. Mostly ice - filled to the literal rim of the glass. So full when I took one of my first sips, ice fell to the floor. There was just a splash of ginger beer; it could've used more but, alas, no room with all that ice! When I mentioned it to the server, she explained that's how they make them. She offered to bring me another, but it seemed clear she meant I'd be paying for it. No thank you. Next, my food. I tried the salmon burger (new to the menu, I'm told) which is actually a salmon croquette on a bun with some lettuce and vinaigrette. It's HUGE and not in a good way. The first few bites were okay, and I thought the heavily breaded effect was due to biting into the edge. As I continued eating, though, most bites felt like a mouthful of bread. I can only hope there was minced salmon in it, but the ratio was so heavy on breadcrumbs that I couldn't detect it. Not the slightest hint of pink on the inside either. I ate about 1/2, my hungry hub finished it. The flaws of the salmon burger didn't seem worth pointing out to the server after the response I got with the drink. Later, as we walked around downtown, I felt like I had a lead sandwich in my stomach. My husband had a better experience than I. His bison burger came out great. No complaints. Unfortunately for me, I think I'll just have to order very specific things when coming here now. Austin's has sentimental value for me - it's the first place we dined after moving here 27 years ago. Because of that, I keep giving them second chances after they fall short. I just wish they'd return to the days of "you can't go wrong", everything is awesome.

They trimmed the bone end and pushed all the meat to the top. This made them less fatty and stringy, more crispy and delicious. Their short rib croquettes were also amazing. I'd never had a short ribs prepared this way stuffed inside a tasty pastry with potato and cheese. They are my new favorites. I was so full on appetizers that I went straight to dessert next and I have to say that their cookie dough creme brûlée. It wasn't too sugary and the cookie dough flavoring was not overpowering. Simply fantastic way to end a meal. I even took home their brownie and ice cream for my housemate. They said it was the best brownie they've ever had.

On the first trip I discovered Choice City Butcher and the best damn hamburgers I have ever had, anywhere, bar none. I returned for a burger pilgrimage at least once on every trip since. The vibe was casual (order at the counter/bar) and the beer selection was outstanding. This last year I went back for my yearly trip and was excited to introduce one of my colleagues to this place. As soon as I walked in, it all seemed different. The beer taps were gone, a waiter (!!) greeted us and seated us in a foofy feeling booth. I inquired about the changes and found that the ownership had changed recently. The menu was much more upscale feeling (though prices were relatively reasonable) and lacked the signature burgers I was looking forward to. Our order started with the brussels sprouts appetizer. Solid app. Very tasty and nicely roasted with a yummy aioli. My old fashioned was fine, but nothing special (I make a better one at home with $20 bottle bourbon). My main was their Horsetooth Burger (Chili Relleno burger) which was pretty disappointing. The patty itself looked and felt like it was frozen, not hand formed like the old ones. The Poblano was nearly tasteless and way too big for the bun. Overall the burger was very average and not very flavorful. In the long run, I was pretty disappointed in the food. Service, was great. Very attentive and friendly. Despite that, this will probably be my last visit to Choice City. I will mourn the loss of those amazing burgers for the rest of my life...

Saturday evening 7:30 found us in a Moot House booth. For a start we ordered the beet salad. Menu says roasted beets but we think these tasted boiled or steamed. That said, they were perfectly cooked, adorning a mixed green salad. I probably would call this a mixed green salad with beets, rather than a beet salad. Greens made up 80% of it. Still a decent salad. For mains, I ordered their Fish and Chips (2 and 3-piece available) and she ordered the Parmesan Sea Bass. The fish and chips were great, crisp, not greasy, and the shoestring fries were fantastic. Sea bass was tasty, Parmesan crusted and pan seared with charred lemon and capers on it. Yum! In prior visits we've had their wedge salad, Brussels sprouts, Reuben, Caesar salad and a few other items. Some better than others (loved the Brussels!) but all were above average for the price. See you next year!

The potatoes were by far the star of the show; the ham was fine. The mustard sauce was good. It was it was a lovely meal. We also had the artichoke dip to start and it was actually very good. It was creamy and cheesy and I would've almost just had a whole bowl of that. My table mates had the Parmesan Seabass, which was a hit and the burger, which was a solid burger. I have a feeling that this is a place where people go for drinks as most of the tables around us had cocktails but I can't speak to those. We did notice several mocktails on the menu which is always great! Wheelchair accessibility: there is some lot and street parking with accessible spaces close by. The front door is heavy and so you'll probably need somebody to help you open it, and the spaces between the tables can be a little tight although there is both seating on the patio and inside that would be accessible for wheelchair users. The bathroom door isn't too heavy and there is a large accessible stall.
