French Dip with Swiss Cheese

The service was excellent. The food was savory. The atmosphere was old school. They're a bit short staffed, but not to sure if they're hiring yet.

Random Cockroach on the bathroom sink......

I don't know if Maxwells sold recently but they used to be good. The pizza was great, food was great. Today we took our family and the pizza tasted like store bought/big chain frozen pizza and the pastrami sandwich that my husband and I spilt was fine. Until I went to the bathroom and saw this little gem just hanging out on the sink. DISGUSTING.

Buffalo wings Garlic Bread Balls pizza

This place I would come back to if I want to have a couple drinks and eat a little. The garlic balls were pretty good just wish they had a bit of cheese in them and the pizza was also pretty good. The wings were not my favorite, I would compare them to wings you'd get at like round table or dominos. The people who attended us were pretty nice and easygoing. The place was a little dark but overall if you just want a drink and a small bite I'd recommend this place but Im not sure about having a full meal here I would have to try it again.

Maxwell's Burger with onion rings $19 in 2022

The good and the not so good: the good...Buy a drink and get 1/2 off on your burger on Tuesday, what's not to love about that? I ordered the Maxwell Burger and at 2022 prices it was a bargain and it was something different with the peanut butter and fried jalapeños! It was a nice combination of hot and sweet but not too much of either and definitely a full plate of food. The not so good: my burger was very dry and the side of onion rings were a bit soft and soggy, just not freshly made and since theirs is my favorite combo when it comes to burgers it was less than tasty for my liking. Also, upon my refill of my water there was a very strong taste of a sanitizer so I'm guessing it wasn't finished drying before they refilled it and it was overpowering the water.

Great service & the food was great! The bartenders were super friendly & We will definitely come back.

Burned burger--nasty!

This place used to be really solid but it's gone to hell lately. The all black interior is kind of worn and dated looking. In part, that's because it's dusty and worn. The bench seating of the booths is cracked or caving in--it's not comfortable. The food shows the same lack of care. My son and I ordered sandwiches which should never have been allowed out of the kitchen. The buns were burned to a crisp. The meat in my burger was just as dry--it was an inedible burnt puck. The only bright spot was our server, but he missed an opportunity to quality check the food he brought us. The burned buns were conspicuous and inexcusable. I won't be back.

Y'ALL! I DO NOT HAND OUT 5 STARS EASILY!!! Maybe it's because we were hungry, maybe it's because Maxwell's was a short drive (10 mins walk; 4 mins by car and it was raining so, yeah, car), maybe it's because they serve Rogue Hazelnut Spiced Rum in a fantastic modern take on a mai tai that made us forget all the sugary mai tais we've delightfully downed in the past, maybe it's because the staff was friendly, attentive AND offered suggestions of libations + food combos based on the flavors we were craving, and maaaaybe, just maybe, it was because the pizza I had was insanely filled with delicious herbs and packed with veggies AND came with a side of ranch dressing without asking, but all those maybes were just too much to not reward Maxwell's! Terry is the bubbly, fun, knowledgeable server who made suggestions after bringing us menus as our butts hit the high top stools. We each went with their on tap cider offerings, one a crisp dry apple, the other a somewhat sweet cherry/apple. Both were good - BUT! - afffter we ordered, I noticed their cocktail list and saw they have a mai tai made with Rogue Hazelnut Spiced Rum. That, somewhat ;), brought back memories of a fun drinking visit to the Rogue brewery in Portland years ago when we first tasted this spirit in root beer. (sigh....digressing as my Member Berries kick in...). AAAAANYwho, we ordered the Maxwell's Mai Tai($8) promptly and were rewarded with a light, refreshing, easy to sip modern take on the usually sugary sweet concoction inspired decades ago by friends of the infamous Trader Vic, who described the drink to him upon returning from a Polynesian vacation. It still packed some spirit, but was delicious. THEN our piping hot small, 9", pizzas($14/ea) arrived with a container of ranch dressing. I had just heard Megan Thee Stallion talk about ranch w/pizza being a Texas thing 'y'all HAVE to try', so I was all in. My Garlic Chicken w/white sauce and MASS veggies(artichoke, tomato, mushrooms & zucchini) would have been excellent without the ranch, but dipping all that lusciousness into the creamy, perfect dressing was...was...was...perfecter(????) - lol! Yup, I'm a believer. Hubby really enjoyed his personalized ham w/extra cheese pizza w/o the ranch addition. I thought a small pizza would be a cinch to chow down, but both of us switched to "pace yourself mode" to finish. With all those veggies on mine, I easily could have shared the small. Alas, the only vegetable my husband consumes is a fried french, so he wanted nothing to do with my garden based pie. We thoroughly enjoyed our time, service, drinks and food at Maxwell's Eatery and were happy Yelp was wrong about their hours and Maxwell's being closed on a Sunday. They are VERY MUCH OPEN. Go say hi to Terry, enjoy a pizza and some Rogue Hazelnut Spiced mai tais and thank me later. OR, get a shot of that hazelnut spiced rum in your root beer. Cheers! CC

Great place for good food and cold drinks! It's right outside the Market street promenade near shops and more eating establishments. There is plenty of parking on the street and around the general vicinity. You won't have issues finding parking in Redding. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. It can be good for groups if you call ahead. It's a casual setting but not too loud, so it's a great place to meetup with friends. Maxwell's would also be a great place to stop if you're passing through town looking to stop at a comfortable place for a good meal, or want to catch a game on the screen. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. Try the buffalo blue fries and tatchos! The garlic chicken pizza is delicious. I'm not typically a fan of white sauce pizza BUT I would go back just for the garlic chicken pizza!

Jokes on me! Come here for the drinks and pizza not the burgers! First let me say that the service was outstanding, our server was very attentive and she handled our large party with expertise. They also took allergy precautions for me which I appreciate! I got the spicy jalapeño and it wasn't really spicy and served a bit cold but the pizza THE PIZZA is next level good. The ranch that they put on the side is to die for (I could drink it with a straw) and the cheese pulls were out of this world. My husband got the wings and really liked them. The lemon pepper seasoning wasn't over done or too salty, it was just right. I highly recommend this place for your bar crawl evenings.

Great food; big portions. Wait staff took a while to get to us for our check and never checked to see if we needed anything.

Pretty good pizza-I had the veggie and there was a good variety of veggies on it. I liked the thin crust. Would go again.

Giff's Steakburger - Friendly decor

Friendly little place with nice people. Loved the simple menu and easy going feel of the place…read more The ugly burger is a patty shaped to fit an oblong Franz sandwich roll. That's it. The quality of the burger meat is excellent. I loved the burger bar where you can build your own burger with sauce and toppings to your heart's content. Fries served hot. Salt yourself at table. Fresh brewed tea was perfect. Although not a cheap lunch, Highly recommended!

BEST BURGER IN REDDING... MAYBE THE BEST BURGER EVER…read more Whenever I am in Redding, I make it a point to stop here at least once for a burger. The burgers, the demographic who eats here, the wall decor, and the mild to moderate disrespect and attitude from Dick hasn't changed a bit... and I wouldn't have it any other way. He is a small breath of fresh air when it comes to community and giving back to small business. He gets his meat fresh every single morning... literally fresh, NEVER frozen. He patties and cooks it right there in front of you over an open flame. The burger comes plain with cheese, which you will need to take back to the "Sandwich Bar" where you will put on all of your sauces and condiments. Why is it called the ugly burger? Because the guy cooking the burger is damn ugly! And also the burger is shaped awkwardly long, but fits perfectly in the hoagie bun. It's one of the most fresh burgers I have ever eaten. And each burger is cooked with love. If anyone gave this place less than a 4 star, you don't deserve to leave reviews on Yelp!
