I called in ahead with my order, I gave them my information, came in and my goodies were ready, paid, and I was out the door. Glad I got to visit this donut shop after reading all the other raving reviews. I got there a bit after 10AM and a lot of stuff was already sold out so that was disappointing. If you pay with cash, you get 5% off but if you pay with credit card they charge you a fee if your order is under $4.50. I only bought 3 donuts and the total cost was 3.85, When I said I would pay with credit card, and the lady in the front said I had to pay an extra $0.65 to reach the minimum or else pay a $4 upcharge, . To me they looked like they were pretty desperate for the money. But for the good parts the donuts looked okay. Another thing is the service is fast. One of my coworkers recommended this spot as their go to donut spot! I live in McKinney and every second of this 15 minute drive was worth it for these donuts. They were soft and light, and it seemed like the sugar had crystallized creating a little bit of a bite. I tried the glazed and chocolate, and both were delicious! Drove 15 miles this morning to get donuts for my family because imo Max's are the best. I've been going to Max's since 2007 when I lived in Allen. This morning when I walked in I was the only customer and was greeted cheerfully. As I tried to place my order stating I wanted a box (because I don't like when the donuts are placed in bags and the icing gets everywhere) and because I was getting around a dozen. Amy demanded to know the exact number of donuts I was buying because she apparently is the box police. I had at that point not decided on what or how many I was buying. I wanted to look at the selection first before ordering. I offered to pay extra for the box if I did not meet the required number to qualify for a box. Donuts are always sweet, soft, melt in your mouth It's always clean. Decor is simple poster and pictures from the community. Always lives the support they show. If you are line complainer then you might have to go somewhere else because there is a line about 80% of the time, however it is worth the wait. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Max's is the OG of donut shops in Allen. We moved here in 1987 and it was here when Allen was a small town of 18000 people. Now it's a city of over 100,000 people and Max's is still going strong. I went at 0930 on a weekday and the selection was limited but my favorite chocolate glazed was there so all was good. My second and third faves (apple fritter and blueberry) were sold out so I got a cinnamon cake. My chocolate glazed was transcendent as always. Melt in your mouth goodness. The cinnamon cake donut was good but not crazy excellent like chocolate glazed or an apple fritter. Service at Max's is always fast and friendly. Ok so full transparency I did not actually go into this location so can't speak to that. However I did have there donuts. Now the fat kids review lol donuts were a little crispy on the edges,fluffy and soft in the middle cooked to perfection. The icing is sweet but not diabetic comma like some places and it's smacking as us kool kids say. No napkins needed go country and lick your fingers.
