Attitude and bad communication is all i have to say. I call a day before my appointment to inform that my check engine light came on and the lady i spoke with to told me that i can come in and they can take a look at it for free and we'll go from there. Get there and they're already tryna milk my money($89)...i felt a bad vibe and not welcomed. I can't make any reviews on google since I've left quite a few. Basically I had spoken to the new Regional Manager, Wayne, who was very unprofessional in "attempting" to resolve an issue I had with Mavis discount tire. I went there to get my brake pads checked in the back and I left with a broken wheel bearing in the back, and argued with Ryan, the manager of the establishment, for about 15 minutes, him telling me tjay it was like that prior to me coming there, even though I have the mechanic who worked on my car and brought it into the bay and out of the bay, tell me the abs sensor was not on until after he pulled it out the bay. I have screenshots from said mechanic, and when I asked Wayne to be put in touch with the Regional Director or even the Vice President before I take legal action, I was met with silence. I was told there's nothing they can do and that there's no way a mechanic could break my bearing. I looked it up, theres many ways a bearing can break when checking one's brakes, most of it due to negligence and or excessive force. I am hoping in the next few days I am able to hear back, I look forward to coming up with a resolution over a hopeful reimbursement of the 515 dollars I had to spend at another mechanic, which I have receipts for as well. If you're shopping for tires, I cannot say enough about the service we received at Mavis on State St. by Mohawk Commons. Dominic the sales manager was very helpful and hands down provided superior customer service. The store was a madhouse but he and his staff (Anthony) remained calm and professional under pressure. They really went out of there way to make buying tires easy. They made recommendations that will save me $150 in rebates. We had an awful experience with the sales manager at the Mavis on Chrysler ave do not go there!!!! read more

I brought my car in for new tires. The people who work here are really nice and their communication was excellent. So I wanted to believe them when they said my car was in dire need of $2,000 in additional repairs. Little did they know I just had a full inspection of everything at the dealership the month prior and they never mentioned this problem. So I left Mavis without tires and without fixing the problem they identified so I could get a second estimate. I went back to the dealership, and they said there was NO problem! So best case scenario, Mavis folks are incompetent. Worst case, they are unethical and trying to sell repairs that aren't even needed. read more

Got a set of 4 new tires and an alignment/ balancing. I experienced great communication from staff during repair. The price wasn't horrid for needing 4 new tires + an alignment. I'll definitely keep them in mind for any tire needs in future, as I did opt for the warranty. The staff there is definitely too notch customer service! Definitely put me at ease for a first time car owner needing new tires. Best thing it was all done in one day via phone call ! We went in for tires as we researched tires and they had the best price. It took three hours and they said we needed tire rods and struts and some other things. The next day we had to take it to our dealership to get a check up and they said none of those things needed to be fixed. You would think the dealership would try to get you to trade up on a new car because there was so much wrong with yours. So beware of their suggestions. read more

Do not go to this location if you are a female looking to identify why your car is making a noise. They do not collect authorization from their customers to do the work, they refused to give my car back after I called them 3 times and pleaded to have my car back. They lied about call transcripts and saving my car parts. My complaint with the regional manager stayed open for a month and a half while they were "looking for my call transcripts, on to be told they don't believe I never authorized was the work because I didn't "call the cops." They have now responded to my post that there is an audio they've reviewed. I have been asking for my call recordings you told me you had for 6 WEEKS. Your regional manager told me on 7/7 that there is no audio documentation. Get your stories straight. I never authorized this work. read more

Brought my car in with the spare on as I got a nail in my tire. They had my size tire but not the same tread so I purchased 4 new tires as their was some wear and winters coming. I picked up my car and they had just thrown the spare tire in the back. Didn't secure it back under the car, just threw it in the back on top of my daughters backpack and coat. On top of that the waiting area was closed and there were three chairs in the absolutely dirtiest garage I have ever seen. read more

Great! Our first experience was in a Near Emergency situation. Loaded up the wife's 2005 Pilot, which the kids had occasion to drive over the summer, I hadn't driven it for 2/3 months. Heading to bring our son to LeMoyne in cuse from Northern Saratoga County. Car loaded to the max. Myself driving, wife, daughter and of course the Freshman. On northway south above 15, cruise control 70 mph. drive into colonie traffic hit traffic hit brakes. It's about 10:45 am. Ugly sound. Ugh "Cmon guys"I exclaim. "The brakes on this car are toast, no one knew, no one heard the squeaks before the crunching sound"? I was miffed. Googled Mavis Schen, they were open SUNDAY. Called let them know we needed rear brakes rotors pads at a minimum. Cmon in. In , all brakes done within 1.5 hours we went across the street to subway to eat. Been pretty loyal to this shop for me since. It works for work . We also use the Saratoga and geyser road store. The dealers , Honda, always want our business for tires and brakes. They can't match the price, they aren't as quick, and when you get good work done is it smart to buy a new mousetrap? read more

I found myself at the Niskayuna Mavis because they're pretty much the only choice on a Sunday afternoon. We had a bent rim from a curb ding, that needed the tire removed and put on another rim we had. And we really needed it done that day. They were short handed, and understandably the wait was not short. Although, if the employee that changed or rim had moved any slower, I would have thought time had actully stopped altogether. After we got out on the road. I noticed the tire pressure sensor light was on. My first thought was that they hadn't put the sensor from the bad rim, onto our replacement rim. I called them and asked if they could set my bent rim aside so that we could pick it up the next day. I was told that they wouldn't not switch the sensor, it just needed to reset itself, and after 30 to 40 miles driving, the light would go off and not to worry about it. This sounded a bit weird to me, but I took their word for it. Well, after a week, and 300 miles of driving, the light was still on. So, we stopped back at that Mavis to ask why the light was still on. Now the story from them this time is, they don't remove and reinstall tire pressure sensors. So, I asked why didn't they just say that a week ago? They offered to sell me a new sensor, but couldn't install it till the next day. Now, I'm rather pissed off. I asked if they still had my old rim, which luckily they did. So, now I'm going to have to pay a much more reputable shop, to unmount my tire, and install the still perfectly good sensor. I will not ever do business with Mavis again. Their loss, as I plan to be buying rather expensive new tires for both my vehicles, before winter. But, I'm sure they don't care. read more

Seriously the only place I will be bringing my car and telling others too! Mavis right off balltown rd and state street has the friendliest staff and Tyler took such great care of my car! Saturday's are busy but somehow he managed to squeeze me in. The friendly service makes up for the wait! I got four brand new tires, an alignment, replacement of two rear shocks and flushing of my power steering on my Honda civic. I highly recommend this tire center for all your needs, they do inspections, alignments and other things. The service is great and they are well staffed, have lots of options for tires in stock etc! Tyler and Mike were great guys ask for them when you do visit, I highly recommend this place for your cars needs. read more

Had a ton of work done on my car which was good but when I was told what o2 sensor to purchase it was the wrong one. I had someone who is a mechanic try to put it in and it's the wrong part. This was after my check engine light came back on after 2 days when I had the car in. I called and asked to get the o2 sensor code to check if it was the right o2 sensor and the code was not written down nor could I speak with the technician who worked on my car because he was no longer there. It took even longer to get my car because they were fixing clips that were put on backwards on my brakes that were installed at this location months ago. The only reason it was noticed because I needed my tps light checked. This place was great for convenience/distance from my home but I will be going elsewhere. read more

I bought 4 new Michelin tires from them about 7 months ago and was happy with the prices and service then. I have a fairly new Honda Accord that needed to have the tires balanced and rotated yesterday. When I went in I spoke to Dave and he set me up. I was there under an hour. Lou is the service manager and he came out to see if everything was good and if I was happy. Very professional and courteous service. Sometimes people are quick to complain, I feel it is important to also comment when you are very pleased. Great job! read more

I had rear brakes put on four months ago. When applying the brakes, they pulsated. I bought it back and one of the guys said it was the ABS. I lived with that until one tire guy said it was warped rotors. I returned to Mavis Tire on State St, Schdy and Dominic, the Manager, replaced the pads and rotors which were under warranty. I've heard negative comments about Mavis, but not this State Street Store in Niskayuna. Dominic and his workers are congenial, polite and efficient... and his prices are the best.!!! read more

Zero stars for awful service. I brought my car in for brake service. I was expecting to replace the brake pads and possibly rotors. The guy tells me I also needed new calipers, so based on his recommendation I said ok. They replaced both rear calipers, pads, and rotors. I paid over $900.00. I drive home and noticed something was wrong with the emergency brake. I bring the car back the same day. No one offered any apologies to me for the inconvenience; they think I am fabricating the issue. Few minutes later they explained to me the one of the BRAND NEW calipers they put in was defective, hence the emergency brake wasn't working properly. They told me they can have a replacement caliper ready in 2 days, but of course they forgot to order it. I come back after one week to have them replace the BRAND NEW defective caliper they just installed. I drive home and I hear some rattling noise. I bring the car back to this shop- this is now my 4th time coming back. The manager tells me it would was missing a clip- the replacement caliper they installed days ago didn't come with the clip so the mechanic putting it in didn't know it was missing this clip. These are supposed to be professional mechanics?!?! Then I see him run to the second floor, come down with a box and gave it to the guy to install. I am pretty sure the manager was lying to me about the clip and the caliper, because the contents of this box was brake pads plus some clips; most likely when they removed the caliper and pads he forgot to put in these clips to hold the brake pads in place. On the slight chance he was telling the truth, I think a professional mechanic should know how to make this installation properly. The best part? I started to show that I was upset and the manager tells me, "I don't understand why you're acting this way. I fixed YOUR problem." I should be thankful they fixed MY problem, after my 4th visit. How many times do you normally go to an auto shop for 1 brake job? Again, not once did anyone offer any apologies. I will be contacting Mavis' corporate office regarding this repair. I have been a customer to Mavis since 2012, and this is how returning customers are treated. read more

In the past 7 months, I've gone to the State St Niskayuna Mavis for an inspection, tires with alignment, a battery, and just last week rear shocks. I've had no problems with the parts, pricing or service. The new manager Lou and his team just took over the place, and were professional and fast. Once I told them I was going to wait for the work to be performed, they took my car right in and installed the shocks. I was in and out in a very satisfactory time frame. The price was as quoted with no surprises. Next I'll have front struts installed, and will return to this Mavis location to do the work. I got excellent prices on the tires and battery, and also the shocks as there was a 25% off the parts special. Until they do me wrong, I'll continue to use this facility for my basic auto needs. I brought my girlfriends van in for rear brakes. They were bad. Rubbing and dust all over the rim. The guy behind the counter was short and just about bald-I never got his name. This was the 3434 State st location in Schenectady. He looked at it without even bending over and told me I needed pads, rotors, and at least calipers. I asked why the calipers since they were replaced last time. He said they rubbed and were ruined. I then brought it to P&L auto down the street and the mechanic laughed and charged me $300 for the full brake job. Less than half mavis tried to rip me off for. The calipers were fine! Please go somewhere else first for estimate and diagnosis before trusting these crooks! read more

One star for Christian, he was great. I had to go when he wasn't there tho. Poorly run place. The workers run the place. Overheard the Woman rep state she can't keep asking the worker how long with a customer car because he will get upset and take longer. I was in there so long I had to send someone else to wait for my car because I had to go to work. 1:00 to 6:30 to change 4 tires, balance them and do an alignment is crazy. One lady requested her keys because she was there 4 hours and her car was still in the parking lot. One man was there for 5 hours just tor an inspection. The people are nice but they have no clue. Tech broke my center cap. The Woman rep told my boyfriend when she went home she was gonna order 4 center caps for us. Him being so naive didn't get it in writing nor am I looking for it. Just fix what you broke and I am good with that. I believe she told him that only because his face read how pissed he was just sitting there waiting for the Tech. They did order a new one (the one the tech broke) and we picked it up yesterday but I will never take any of my cars to this place again. They really need to cover that window where we can see the Tech working on the cars because if you are waiting for your car and you see the workers standing outside smoking a cigarette it will kind of make you a little upset. Replaced 4 tires on 14 Nissan Rouge. They said would be done in a hour and it was. Didn't excpect them to really be done in that time. Service was awesome. I had read some negative reviews about this location and was a little hesitant. Don't be, the service was awesome the prices were competitive (really better then anywhere) and it didn't take long at all. I would come back here and recommend to anyone. A+ read more

Went in the evening after work just for tires as a gash was on one of the tire's tread but hadn't punctured yet. Was fed many lines trying to get us worried to have more work done, not to mention kept trying to sell the deal they tried to strike with us after we had paid. They made it sound as though we wouldn't be able to drive for long if we didn't have the front breaks, break and auto power steering fluids tended to by the next day, as it was close to closing time. Our receipt shows they put on the new tires and did a wheel alignment and tire rotation. When we brought it to our reliable mechanic (have been taking all vehicles to him for about 20 years), he told us and took a video showing that there was no way they could have done a proper alignment as the front left ball joint was loose. The only good thing I can say about Mavis Tire is that they put on new tires. read more

Oh where do I even begin. I first bought tires from Mavis last year. They were about a $100 a piece and had a 60k mile warranty on them. It took them over three days to install because they kept breaking the pressure sensors and trying to put the blame on me saying it wasn't their fault that the sensor broke blah blah blah. Anyways I drove off after having my car there three separate days, glad to be done with Mavis forever. Or so I thought. I went to get my car inspected a week ago (I had only put 25k miles on the tires) and they all failed inspection because the tread was already gone. I brought the car back to the Mavis in Schenectady and said hey I got these tires a year ago and I don't even have half the mileage of the warranty on them so what's the deal. The technician there said 'Well the tires look to be overinflated so the warranty is void'. I've never touched the tire pressure at all so I knew this was either a faulty tire or someone at Mavis had overinflated them (I had been there a few months back to repair two that were leaking). So I contacted corporate and they said yeah what he said is BS we can help you out. We will prorate the tires and just have you pay for half the tire since you've used half the warranty. So since I knew the Schenectady Mavis was garbage, I went to the one in Rotterdam, hoping for something better. Boy was I wrong. I dropped the car off, had the tires installed, and in about 2.5 hours I was driving off the lot with new tires. As I was driving off it said 'tire pressure low' and I thought well that's probably normal so I drove home. I drove another 20 miles or so and the light wouldn't go off, and switched to 'tire pressure sensor fault'. So I called Mavis and they said yeah bring it back we'll fix it no issue. So I came back that afternoon and one of the employees there (none were wearing name tags no surprise) said 'Oh I forgot to mention before. My tire technician said that your light was on before you came in so we can replace it but it'll cost you since it wasn't our fault.' Utter BS so I explained no, no lights were on when I dropped this car off, and if they had been, you would've told me before I left earlier. He basically ignored me and stormed out to my car and said 'your tire pressure is too high, drive it over to the pump' so I did. I waited 30 minutes for him to come back outside and fill them and when he never did, I went inside and he said yeah you're all set. My guy lowered the pressure so just drive 15 miles and it'll go off. I watched my car the whole time and saw no one so I grabbed the tire pressure pump and as I was about to check them, a guy ran out and said 'Oh! Yours is the car I was going to change the pressure in. My bad man!' So he lowered the pressure and I left. 40 miles later the light was still on so I went back the next day and said 'I was in here yesterday, got new tires, and a sensor light was broken'. A really nice tall guy either josh or John said 'no problem, sorry for the issue you had. I'll get you right in ASAP'. Three hours later my problem was fixed and I was driving off the lot. Over 12 hours of trouble to have a set of tires put on without any issues. Mavis' customer service at the store level is horrible. BUYER BEWARE. if you have any issues, don't believe the BS the tire techs tell you, call corporate. Buy anywhere else so you don't have to go through the hell I went through. read more
