It has been three years since we used Hari's on Rt. 7 for maintenance and repairs on our cars. We had two older cars then and were very pleased with the expert service/repairs provided by this independent business for many years. For the past three years, we have been going to New Country Lexus on Rt. 9, a corporation, with our newer car on warranty. However, I am back at Hari's today for a NYS Car Inspection, and I am blown away by the difference in customer service between Hari's and New Country. Hari's-- 1. My appointment time was met, no delays because of over booking! Waited at Lexus 2 hrs 45 min in Jan. 2025 for minor service of tire rotation and fluids. (2 Star review posted) 2. The appt. took 30 min as I was told. 3. The owner Hari took the time to say Hello. He remembered the last name. He asked about my husband. He said he appreciated my business. 4. My car was ready on time for me to get to another appointment. I was told by the worker who makes appts. etc. that you do not have to go to the dealer for maintenance even if you have a warranty. Of course, you must the keep paperwork. I appreciate the convenience of having work done at Hari's in a timely manner. read more

I dropped my car off on a Friday stating that the cabin of the car was filling with exhaust. They said that the exhaust smell was coming from a leaking oil seal which required the transmission to be removed to fix. 2 weeks later, I picked my car up on a Friday at closing and paid $3,300. Within 2 minutes driving down the road, my cabin was again filled with the same exhaust smell and the car now also had a slight vibration that wasn't there before. I dropped the car back off that night after closing. When I called Saturday morning, I was told that they did not have time to look at it that day. On Monday, I stopped on the way home from work. The owner was in the process of looking under the hood of my car. When I approached and started to discuss the issue with my car he became very aggressive in his demeanor and tone of voice. Never once did I ask for a refund on the work that was done (that didn't fix the problem I brought the car in for) nor did I accuse them making up a problem that didn't exist. I simply wanted the issue I brought the car in for to be done promptly since I was now on week 3 without a car. The owner made me feel very uncomfortable to the point I started to cry so I excused myself and left. The owner followed up a half hour later via phone call, speaking very nicely to me, sharing the great news that the parts needed to fix the original problem would run me around $50 and they had discovered the vibration was due to a loose bolt that was now tightened and fixed. We picked the car up Friday and I was informed they charged me 1/2 the labor bringing this new additional bill to $270 for a total of $3,570. Paying so much when the original issue was under $500 definitely isn't ideal. However, that is not the reason for my low review. For me, I feel they should have checked that the original problem was fixed before giving it back to me the first time. The biggest issue was how I was treated by the owner. I would not want anyone else to have to experience that I had. The other two workers were very polite and respectful. read more

I was on my last day for a photo inspection for insurance purposes. 3 places prior said they could not do it for miscellaneous reasons. Today, i stopped by Haris & I was greeted with smiles and confidence and told no more than 10 minutes! Truth! In and out, such a clean environment and pleasant staff ,will go back for future tune ups and auto issues. read more

Hari's is the neighborhood Mobil gas station, right on Troy-Schenectady road, incongruously in a residential stretch - grandfathered in from a long time ago when this was a lonely wayside in a rural section of the pike. The station is a little brick two-stall garage, and the mechanical service specializes in Audis and Volvos, and does oil changes and state inspections. I haven't had an issue here with very simple errands, but haven't done major mechanical work. They have small convenience items on the inside and the coffee's been OK. Very notable for convenient pull-in pull-out when going westbound on 7, or you can use the turn lane in from eastbound traffic, but I wouldn't recommend that at rush hour. read more

I brought my pickup truck to Hari's for exhaust work. Hari called me and told me that I needed two catalytic converters. I asked him about my muffler and he said it was good and did not need repair. He asked me to pay for the catalytic converters up front because they were specialty order parts. I paid the $2,180.60. I grew hesitant after mulling over the job and brought in the truck to the Toyota dealer. They said my muffler was shot, it has a large hole in it, and I need some exhaust pipes. They did not need to replace any catalytic converters. They also told me that the resale value on used CCs is around $800 for each one. Overall, a very suspicious and horribly wrong diagnosis. read more

I stopped in to have my car photographed for my insurance as they are a Carco site. I was met by a rude woman who snapped at me that she couldn't take any pictures unless my car was clean. I said that it was at the car wash recently but the roads are wet so there is probably some spray. She was reluctant but said she would at least examine the car. She looked at the car which was as clean as any car will be in upstate NY after a storm and snapped that she needed the exact mileage and she would be back out when she was ready. I waited outside for a while before returning inside only to be scolded that she said she would be back out when she was ready. I left and went to another site. There is NO reason for anyone to behave this way! read more

I just got raped to the tune of $1177.00 for service performed on my vehicle by Hari! I took my 2012 Fiat Pop to Hari because I was hearing a humming noise from my rear tires. Hari drove my car and advised me that I probably needed new wheel bearings. He later confirmed that and advised me that the cost of the bearing were $290 as he was giving me a discount. I assumed it was $290 for two. Oh no! He charged me $290 each at a total of $580. Online, 2 wheel bearing would have been $230. He also tole me that I needed new struts. He charged me $184.50 when online they were $70 for two. That's a $764.50 overcharge! Are you kidding me? This man is a crook. Now he says I need an alignment as my car pulls to the right and the steering wheel is off center when driving straight. It wasn't before I brought it to him. I am done with Hari's Mobil as he has just proven to me that he is a thief. I do not recommend anyone go to his garage. I can not believe Hari lied to me to the tune of $764.50 and ripped me off! read more

Consumer BEWARE... I was told that the owner was a shyster but gave him the benefit of the doubt as I am a pro-small, local business supporter. I should have listened to the rumors. I went to this business because I had a problem with tires that I had previously purchased and Hari was listed as a dealer of those tires. He told me that I needed to pay upfront for new tires. He then would have to send my tires in to the company and wait for a determination on a credit amount. After waiting for 3 months for my credit and being told, "don't call me anymore, I will call you", I contacted the tire company directly. They had no record of a request being made for the credit, and provided me with a check for the credit within two weeks without "seeing" my tires. In addition to that Hari told me that I needed to purchase an extended warranty for the new tires. After not receiving any information regarding the warranty (i.e. written policy, policy number) I contacted the warranty company. They told me that Hari was not even enrolled with their program when he sold me the tires and is still NOT enrolled in their road hazard program. He presents as a "I'm the guy who is going to look out for you" businessman but the only one he is looking out for is himself. Please warn your friends and family - the rumors are TRUE! STAY AWAY from this business. read more
