I had used Exit 5 previously with no error, until I needed my parking brake fixed. I took my vehicle in for service and they told me it needed 4k in repairs, and that the warranty would cover 3k. Days after its in the shop, they call me and tell me THEY broke a bolt and that they cannot finish the work until I paid for the new part myself. They then OFFERED to put back in the BROKEN part if I did not want to pay for the new part that was "covered under warranty". Awful Customer Service, Corey the "Part Owner" shows no sympathy nor intellectual thinking. AWFUL business and a terrible way to retain customers. read more

I purchased my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek from Exit5 Auto. We have been using their service department for any work the car has required since. We brought it in for a wheel bearing, and they replaced it. 6 months later, we brought it back for the same wheel bearing, and they replaced it under warranty. 6 months later, we brought it back for, you guessed it, the same wheel bearing. They "fixed" it again, and I made it less than half a mile before turning around and going back, as the car was making the same exact noise as before. This time they said it was the transmission (a $4k job). We then took the car to someplace else for a second opinion, and wouldn't you know, it was the same wheel bearing!! They fixed it, even fixed the AC compressor and recharged the freon, things Exit5 Auto completely missed that were causing the noises the car was making. For starters, in the market for a vehicle? Don't EVER go to or purchase from Exit5 Auto Group. And here, is the reason why. in January, my daughter's car was totaled in a hit and run. On January 21, she bought a used Ford which had just 81,772 miles from Exit 5 Auto and paid $20K for it (plus taxes and fees). In less than a month, the vehicle was making a very weird noise. After back and forth with them, she brought the vehicle in and found the drive shaft needed to be replaced. A week later she picked up the vehicle and was able to drive it again. Last Sunday, she was driving home. A warning light came on indicating temp overheating. The car then shut down and she had to be towed. Had it brought to a mechanic. They found that there was much rust and had to replace two cooling hoses. On top of that, the brake fluid was extremely low. The garage asked her who inspected her car because they were uncertain how the car could have passed inspection. She had the car repaired and picked it up Thursday after work. Only to get home and the same warning light come on when she got home to her driveway. The car had to be towed back to the garage. The called to say they are concerned it could be her overall engine. She has to wait until Monday to find out. This led her to send an email to Exit 5 Auto and they called her yesterday. She got me on the call as well ~ because the manager said there is nothing they can do. It's her car. When I asked if he thought this was acceptable, that she paid $20K purchasing the car THREE MONTHS AGO, and this is the second major issue, he said there was nothing they could do. I brought up the Lemon Law, he told me that's not how this works. Three months and less than 4K miles driven. It's not unrealistic to expect the vehicle last a little longer, is it? So, I mentioned that I would report the organization to DMV, Attorney General and by word of mouth to friends to NEVER purchase from them. He told me go-ahead and told us to have a good day. As promised, by word of mouth, or by written text ~ I'm sharing this awful experience. They will be reported as well. While maybe there is nothing that can be done ~ I hope to save someone else such a huge money loss. As a reminder, Anyone needing a car - don't EVER use Exit 5 Auto Group. They are criminals. Greg was very a helpful salesmen. Not pushy at all. I came in because I wanted to upgrade from my Honda Fit to a pick up. Called for details got Greg. Process was simple. They evaluated my car for wholesale pricing while I test drove the truck. Not much negotiating because they mark their best price right off the bat. They tried their best to make financing and my trade worth doing. In the end I didn't take the deal because financially it would have resulted it more debt for me and I want to be debt free sooner rather than later. But I greatly appreciated all they did. I purchased a 18 Ram from them in March, when the deal was being made the salesman agreed to fix some paint issues/rust bubbles on rocker panels. It was stated that it would be 100% before the truck was sold. The dealer had "bumper bros" paint the rockers and they were good when the truck was picked up. With in just a few months the paint was flaking off and rockers are rusted 10x worse. After I reached out to dealer they stated the salesman doesn't work there anymore, and they don't warranty rust. They said they contacted bumper bros but they won't do anything about it even though it was only a few months later. Spent $25k on a truck that has rusted out rockers. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I will continue to not recommend them to anyone who asks. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHADY DEALER read more

My car went into limp mode and I needed to get it to towed. After getting a reasonable, but wrong, diagnosis I went for 2nd opinion to Exit 5 Auto which was recommended by Auto Zone. I paid 150.00 for towing it there and 350.00 for diagnosing. They said 6,000 would fix it but then lowered it to 3200 to fix the problem of it not running. My third diagnosis for the same problem and fix is 1285.00. Almost half the price. So disappointed in someone I trusted to help me. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Started out great. Friendly dealers. Service team is incompetent. Had noise coming from my front end. Was told by Steve to just turn my radio out. Service team is overbooked which cause subpar service. They only look for what u tell them u think is bad, dont thoroughly check around with determination to fix said problems. Bought the most expensive HMO plan they swore was the best thing for me. $2700 extra. 2.5 yrs in, my vehicle transfer case blew. Plus some other unrelated exhaust problem (rust). What do you know neither were covered. The insurance company they stand by, says I was over the "transfer case recommended service" and therefore it was not covered. Got vehicle around 76,000mi recommended at 97,500. I had about 110,000 at that point. They sold me a garbage vehicle and never bothered to inspect the transfer case knowing good and well it would need service soon. Grand total... almost $4,000 for repair. Dont worry, if you have the cash they will give u a discount. I do not have that kind of cash as I am shopping at a USED CAR Dealership. And of course, they luck out no matter what. They got the $4,000 from me. They know ur gunna have it towed back to them as you have a service contract you paid a lot of money for and expect it to be covered. They know most aren't going to have it towed somewhere else when they already have it in the garage with problem diagnosed( also a fee for diagnosis). If I could not recommend a business, this would be the one. They do not stand behind the products they sell. They didnt even try to work with me. Black and white by the book. They do NOT keep tabs on your vehicle scheduled maintenance like a mediocre Valvoline or Jiffy Lube does where they remind you when due. Because I assumed they were much better than those places, I just thought it wasnt time yet and they would tell me when something major, that voids warranty would be needed. A complete and utter disappointment. They did "claim" they argued on my behalf. However to what extent is unknown. I stress, after the uplifting and positive review I gave after my purchase, I have completely changed my mind about this place and changed my review. A good business would have tried to work with me. Pay half or maybe less. That's all I wanted. To work with me. But it's all just business when it comes down to it. A gentleman welcomed me and, once I briefly described the problem to him, he introduced me to the service manager: Korey. He inspected my car straight away and diagnosed the problem in, literally, 10 seconds! Korey has been professional, quick and nice. So far I've met both Rudy and Korey: both wonderful people. This dealer lacks honesty and integrity. Chose not to buy a car I put a deposit on, having 72 hours to change my mind. I called and told them I no longer wanted the car. They said they would return the deposit, and instead cashed the check. Don't trust this dealership. Especially the 'sales manager'. I'm sure the one positive review was from a relative. Well buying a car isn't known to be an easy process. I spent three months looking at cars. Found a 2009 Tacoma with 80k with these people. Since I was from out of state spent lengthy calls on the phone with them about the car. I asked the appropriate questions. One being rust. I was told there was some but any on the frame would be replaced my Toyota if I took it in to a dealership. I believed them and purchased the car. Problems arose with them after I purchased the car.  I knew I was in for it with them when they keep sending everything in the snail mail when I was told it was next day delivery. Once the paperwork was signed and the car came I was instantly dissatisfied. The hubcaps were not on, the seat heads off and on the floor, and the footrest driver side broke and tossed in the back seat. There was a little rust. Also found a paper in the car that showed their mark-up on shipping the car... Kinda unprofessional. But regardless the car at first drove well so I looked past these issues. As I drove it around for a few days I noticed the black hull peeling away to reveal tons of rust. Even found a hole in the frame. I install called Toyota to have the frame replacement extension done only to be found out it expired for the car two months prior to me buying it, thus exit5 auto lied to me on the phone. Bummed and upset I took it into two mechanics that said the rust was really bad but hiding behind layers of black paint. I called exit5 right away trying to return the car, but they told me it was too late and best I get the frame welded as it might not be safe in the future. (They did harp on the fact it passed New York state inspection with a help of a flown in mechanic from Florida) When I got the car, I did the responsible thing when buying the car and about a warranty on it. I called the warranty place to see if they would cover fixes that were non-rust related issues with parts that had rust on them. They told me no. Thus the contract I bought was worthless for this car. I had to cancel the policy resulting in a $400 loss for me. Over a month later have no received my check, I have called twice and gotten I will leave a note or look into it for you but to no avail.  Best part about this process is after 3,000 miles of me getting the car the rear differential broke resulting in me almost getting side swiped pretty bad. (could of died honestly) 15% of what I paid for the car later it works but doesn't satisfy. Rear differentials are not supposed to break at 84,000 miles. I've waited to post a review in hopes the car would treat me well and I would be happy. But sadly, I am not. Maybe if in five years the car is still running great, I will update this but somehow, I doubt it. Beware with Exist5, while phone friendly the really screwed me over. It breaks my heart knowing the pain they put me through that others may go through it with them as well. read more

I just wanted to get it out there. My son purchased a really nice high performance Subaru, from Exit 5. After about 3 or 4 thousand miles, the motor basically started coming apart internally. Bad motor out of warranty. No choice but to rebuild. It's still a bad motor, and not a fun time around the house. Long story shortened. The staff was always helpful and didn't ever avoid us. They spoke to my son respectfully, when he was upset. Korey, the service manager needs special praise. He befriended my son, and reassured him...they replaced the motor with a different version, with less miles! AT THERE COST! I've never had a better experience when I needed a car repair. Seriously. Mike and the gang were all courteous and professional from the moment I walked in the door. They diagnosed my problem with my Toyota Camry quickly and told me exactly what needed to be done. After speaking to the technician I was 100% confident in his abilities and truthfullness. I picked these guys solely off of their Yelp reviews, since I'm not originally from the area, and I'm so glad that I did. Helped me diagnose the problem with my 2006 Nissan Sentra, presented options, and gave me a reasonable quote. Korey was very knowledgeable and they provided a loaner car for the couple of days they had my car. When all was said and done, they came in under their original quote, even though they had to do a few more things than they originally thought. I've dealt with chain shops and dealerships for repairs in the past, and these guys don't give you that crummy, "salesy" feeling at all. I called asking to get a price on swapping a transmission. After speaking with Korey he was hesitant to just let it go with "here is the price, lets make an appointment". He wanted to make sure that what I was asking for was what was needed. So for free he took my car in and gave me loaner to drive around so he could diagnose the car. Turns out I did need a swap, so he said keep the car and we'll find a low mileage replacement. He found one with a 1yr warranty and gave me a price I couldn't refuse on the whole deal. When the transmission came in he had his techs inspect the whole thing top to bottom and inside out. The found a tiny crack in the case and got it swapped out for one with lesser miles. The new one had fewer miles and ended up costing more but he honored his word, even though I understood that extra expenses do happen, and didn't increase the price of the job. Everyone there including Michael B. were friendly and yes they did let me know of other issues that the car may need service on in the future but they never tried to push the service on me like other "Discount Tires Centers" and "All-in-one quick lubes" have done to me in the past. Exit 5 in Latham recently did work on my car and when I got it back my car was leaking oil. They did things that were not authorized and they killed year old motor. They wouldn't even fix the 1000 part they put in my car that was under factory warranty. I wouldn't trust them with any car. Poor customer service. They reminded me of slimy used car sales men. Talked to the owner and he wouldn't do anything. Guess we will be having this discussion in court! read more
