Absolute ripoff artists. Went there for a simple state inspection. They told me my brake pads weren't good enough. They wanted over $1200 to remove 4 bolts per wheel and swap out the rotors and pads. They already had it on the lift with all the wheels off. At that point, it would have been a half-hour job and less than $200 worth of parts. I told them to put my wheels back on, and I'd do the brakes myself. Cost me $180 for parts. As I was taking the wheels off, I found They had cross threaded one of my lug nuts, which ruined the stud. They didn't even have the decency to tell me about it. I had to cut it off and go get a new one to install. The worst part is that while replacing the pads, I discovered they didn't even need replacing. They had way more than enough material to pass inspection, and the rotors were well within specs. I will never go to any Midas ever again. They're just another scamming ripoff shop. read more

the guy Jim is a prick . I went there to het my thermostat changed and to let him do anything else to the car to pass inspection. I knew it was gonna be a little pricy 700$ the most . he kept adding on things that the car needed which it didn't need, he gave me a hard time with trying to finance a payment plan. that guy is gonna be the reason they lose business read more

I called about my check engine light coming on and my car sputtering like it was going to stall, so they got me in and charged me about $600 for some air sensor...and guess what? My car still doesn't fuckin work. Check engine light is still on and when I tried to head to work the next day my car stalled 3 times and I had to borrow a car. DONT GO HERE!! read more

Beware! The techs at this Midas location are nice enough, but they are SHADY and will overcharge unsuspecting consumers. I brought my car in to have a serpentine belt repaired and the tech 'diagnosed' a faulty oxygen sensor (average cost to fix: $238) that I had had no issues with prior to bringing my car in for repair. The charge was over $400. My husband brought his car in and was told he needed new brakes for a charge of over $400. He took it to another repair shop and was told that the brakes were barely worn, and the repair that was needed was $150. Do not take your car to Midas. Get a quote from a AAA approved mechanic instead. I am extremely unhappy that I brought my car here. I probably spent $300 more than I needed to. I really don't like being taken advantage of by mechanics and have learned my lesson. read more

I was the only customer in the shop, but it took over an hour to get an oil change. Technicians were watching videos instead, while my car was up in the air. Manager showed me the detailed inspection sheet, which had a completely different car listed. Completely different VIN! I asked the manager about it and he said that CRV's and Pilots " have the same engine", so it didn't matter! Now I have no proof for my warranty. They tried to scam me out of doing the tire rotation (also part of warranty). The manager couldn't stop trashing Jiffy Lube, which was completely unprofessional. Scammers. Went there for a $49.95 synthetic oil change special that had tire rotation, top fluids, tire pressure check and a safety check. They were draining the oil and I seen a guy taking a tire and putting it into a machine. I asked what that was for and was told to balance the tires for the rotation. I told him no as the tires were already balanced. They always want to upsell you to get the bill up. That would have been another $28.00 and $11.96 for wheel weights. All they had to was take the tires off the car and rotate them. Than I'm told they can't rotate the tires because something in the tire had a groove in it. I still don't know what he was talking about but i didn't need a new tire as these were good tires. Than I'm told we have to show you this. He said I had a leaking shock and it needed to replace it as it was leaking oil. Now I don't trust them at all. I didn't know if they wiped oil on it or what and tell him no. That would have been another $474.98. I told him I'm not putting money into it and I just want what I came here for. Apparently they weren't happy that all they were getting was $49.95. A few minutes later he says you're all set. I paid and just wanted to get out of there. They will always try to upsell and I'm not interested in it. I came home. Their safety check is a load of crap. The following is what they had checked and nothing was done. Wipers. My rear wiper is coming apart but they checked ok. Window washer fluid. Checked ok but not filled as I paid for. Put 3/4 of a gallon of fluid in it. Suggested I need an oil change. You just did one. What a load of crap. Never checked anything for brake fluid. Air in tires. They take 32 pounds. 1 had 28, two had 34 and one had 36 pounds. They can't even read a tire pressure gauge. Exhaust system. My catalytic converter had a Huge hole in it and that's why it was so loud. They checked it was ok. I wouldn't get one from them anyway. I had already ordered one from Amazon for hundreds less than they wanted when I called them. Tech never signed the paper saying he professionally checked it and accurately described everything. Will I ever go there again? Hell no. Avoid at all costs. Get a second opinion from someone else. read more

Store Location - 1597 State St, Schenectady, NY 12304 I went in for an inspection and oil change. To start, I have always went to Midas, but recently moved so this was my first time at this location. I purchased two new tires on Thursday, on Sunday morning I have a flat on the new tire. I have not went anywhere but to a store and back. We find there is a screw. I have my boyfriend take it in, as I had to work. The manager tells him there's nothing they can do because I "declined the warranty". I have had the tire for 4-days, what does a warranty have to do with anything or goodwill that I possibly left there with a bad tire? The person who test drove it before I left went all through the parking lots of Midas and the garage next door.. how do I know that this is not where the screw got picked up from? Secondly, he never communicated the risks such as THIS ONE, such as ending up with a damaged tire less than a week old and having to buy a new one! If I knew I was accepting this risk I would have paid the measly $16. All this aside, I call in to get a number for a manager. He tells me since I could not come discuss with him myself that he won't be helping me, and he will not be doing this "back and forth". And because I mentioned the possibility of it leaving there with a nail he hung up on me.. There was no back and forth I'm simply trying to figure out WHY a purchase of $400 tires wouldn't have goodwill within 4 days of having them... and since he was not great at explaining, I wanted to talk to someone else. I call back, ask why he hung up on me.. says I'M THE MANAGER AND I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING FOR YOU... Hangs up on me again... After doing this 3 more times he tells me to call corporate.. Did I get upset after a "MANAGER", my only escalation point, hung up on me? Yes of course, I've never felt so humiliated.. of course I was yelling on the remaining calls.. why wouldn't any paying customer be upset by the lack of empathy? my boyfriend went back to ask for the GM contact information for me, since he continued to hang up on me, and he won't talk to him either.. we have the recording of this for what it's worth.. I do NOT think that having a person with such a lack of emotional intelligence and lack of customer service skills being a manager of your store is a good idea. This is the person that is supposed to deescalate an unfortunate situation? I feel so sorry for someone who experiences any larger issues at this store than just a bad tire.. Now I have to try and get through corporate to talk to someone who actually cares? Where you hold for 30 minutes and it hangs up on you stating "we're having technical difficulties".. So sad.. I'll grab a tire elsewhere and won't be back to Midas, but I'm sure no one cares about that either.. read more

Went in for brake pads and rotors, ended up paying an extra $400 for a supposedly bad caliper. At the end, Manager recommended a new air filter and oil change. Air filter is a lifetime K&N that's clean and the oil was changed LESS THAN 24 hours prior. Clearly dishonest and try to get every last cent from you. Wonder if I actually needed that caliper at all... read more

This shop is no good. All of them there swore I needed a tranny pan and gasket, what I actually needed was a new tranny line. I would of done that for nothing. So happy i got a second opinion from a real mechanic read more

Excellent service! John, the manager was able to give me a quote on 4 tire replacement within less than 5 minutes. 2 hours later, I was back home with all 4 new tires! Without mentioning how great and understanding he was about me having to wait in the office with my 4 young children. He handed them crayons and paper, balloons, etc and made it much smoother than I could have possibly imagine. Would go back there for any service in a heart beat! read more

Over two hours to change tires and a battery. When I shed up they took the car right away and no one was here. Also the cost kept going up from what was quoted. Last time I ever do business with Midas or away from my usual spots. For reference I drive a Ford Escape and I already had the tires and they charged 350 bucks read more

I have been with Midas at this location for almost three years now. The staff are friendly and professional. I usually booked an appointment online prior to the visit. It took less than 30 minutes for an oil change. The staff does not sell unnecessary service to me. If there is any major problem with my car, the staff always showed it to me and let me decide. They also offer transportation service to/from my house if the fix takes a while. I would recommend this place. read more

Beware of this location. My son left his iPhone in the car while it was being serviced. Poof, it was gone when he got back in the vehicle. Admittedly, he should have never left it in the car. Track my iPhone showed it was at the location, yet, no one could hear it ringing or find it when we called to retrieve it. I most definitely will not be returning to this location. Who steals from a 7 year old? Oh, I guess I should comment on the service. They changed a flat tire. Could have done it anywhere, but my husband choose this place. read more

1.5 hours for oil change and tires rotation. Employees where sketchy, and oil was brought out from the back in a "drink container" with a spout. 0/20 oil, maybe they don't keep it in the normal pump machine IDK but didn't look professional.
