Stay away! They're shameless in trying to trick and rip you off. I came in for a $21 emissions test, and I was very clear I only wanted the emissions test for an out-of-state requirement. They lifted my car up, took the tires off, and tried to upsell me on $800 new brakes (the guy claimed he would give me a deal). I said no thank you. The guy then said if I didn't get new wiper blades, he would put into the system that my vehicle failed the NY state safety inspection for worn-out wiper blades. I had recently replaced the wiper blades myself and I knew they were totally fine. This place is an utter scam, and apparently this is a well-known trap that Mavis does (I wish I had Googled it before) to exploit customers and fleece more money from you. Made the mistake of trying this store again because of location convenience. I planned it better this time and made arrangements with a friend to pick me up and drop me off when it was done. Good news is they actually took care of my car in a timely fashion. Bad news is they charged me for warranties I did not authorize or approve nor did they tell me about these warranties. Then, I drive there on the day of for them to tell me they can only do 10 a day and they already did 10 today so they can't do mine. Why allow me to make an appointment if it doesn't secure the service?! And no call ahead of time to say it couldn't be accommodated. Disappointing and unfair. People make reservations for a reason and should be honored over walk-ins. It would be much more efficient and considerate if you could assess how many appointments were made in a day and plan accordingly. read more

Pinebush Ny---Well I took my 4 cylinder engine Honda to get the oil done and an inspection, and was apparently charged almost $90 for just the oil change, the most Ive ever been charged, even my 6 cylinder Van was only $54. Also, they were going to fail me for a tiny bit of rust of my rotor, which I got a second opinion on as well as a chuckle and was told it was not a safety issue and was passed by them. Took my car for a routine inspection. They did the inspection and made a minor recommendation but it's only a 2 year old car. I paid and left. Just realized today that they never changed the inspection sticker! The shop is an hour away from where I live and I only went there because I was in Poughkeepsie running an errand and my inspection was overdue. When I called today the person I spoke with was completely unprofessional. I have gone to many Mavis locations but this is the WORST EVER. How do they do an inspection and not change the sticker?? Brought in flat tire caused by a pot hole. They said they found no problems with it, remounted it, balanced it and charged me $40. It was flat again by the time I got home. They quoted us one price but have really high pressure to up sell you lots of other stuff. They even told us if we got a Mavis Credit card that's we would get a $60 rebate. They used this to pressure us into getting an alignment. When we went to check out they said, "sorry you are $8 from the rebate so yo need to buy something else". The work was ok but I will tell everyone I meet about the rip off and high pressure. I hope they read this and realize word of mouth is either their best advertisement or worst enemy. If I could give no stars, I would. I went for an oil change, got my car home and there was oil all over my driveway. I took my car back and they resolved this issue. A few weeks later, my boyfriend was detailing my car and he realized they never put the cover back on the engine. I called, asked if they had one hanging around and Mike told me it's not "where we put the spare parts" -- spare parts? So I asked, "The parts you forget to put back on cars?" He replied, "Eeeehhhhh, I wouldn't say that." When I said, "that's what it sounds like." I was promptly hung up on and when I called back, they didn't answer. Please go elsewhere if you want your car properly serviced. I was left with less car than I went in with and a driveway covered in oil. She gets home oil is leaking out of the drain plug. They did the right thing and snugged everything up. However we had to look under the hood today a month or so later and found the engine shroud/cover is missing. Which they need to remove to change the oil...when she called and asked where it may be they told her its not in the "spare part location" to which she said, "you mean the place where you put parts you forget to put back on cars?" And then they hung up on her. Save yourself the stress, save yourself the energy, don't deal with these jokes. Mavis at 124 Old Post Rd in Wappingers Falls NY. I set up a reservation for 12pm through Mavis website for this location to inspect my vehicle. After waiting to be attended by someone who had better to do and converse with a friend, I was told that my car wouldn't be seen for a couple of hours. What is the reservation for then? Mike behind the counter proceeds to tell me that the reservations really don't mean anything and they aren't honored as it's a first come first serve basis. I am ok with that if there wasn't a reservation system in place, but there is, so maybe the manager should have a bay or two designated for people who took time out of there busy schedules to set up a reservation online that the Company provides being it that people have things to do. Not for Mike though, as he told me to my face that Mavis doesn't honor reservations and they don't mean anything. Great job Mavis. Thanks for wasting my time. read more

Mavis on Rt. 9, by Price Chopper, is great shop for basic maintenance. I've been coming here for years, and almost always have a good experience. Dan, the manager, is friendly and knowledgeable, and takes good care of my cars' services. To date, I've had alignments, brakes, tires, and oil changes done here-all priced fairly and completed without issues so I can drive confidently. One of my vehicles is lowered and slightly modified, and requires lots of tire and suspension TLC, and each season, they look everything over and quickly swap my winter tires to my summers. The shop guys are respectful of my car and treat it well. There's a waiting area with TVs and plenty of seats. Filtered water and restrooms are available if you plan on waiting. I usually use the online booking system. When buying tires, come prepared with other deals because they can price match other offers. On most service trips there are a few suggestions they offer for repairs and maintenance, to which I always decline. I would recommend being somewhat familiar with your car's basic needs to avoid panicking if you're told you need new brakes, coolant flushing, and or power steering fluid. Like any shop, there are recommended services based on your vehicle's mileage that can be offered. For my most recent inspection, there were some brake issues that they red flagged, and were nice enough to bring me out and show me. As expected, there were multiple issues seen and services offered, to which I politely declined. Joe, the service tech working on it, said he would not pass my car unless the rear brakes were done, being deemed "unsafe." After I said "I'm just here for an inspection--just to be clear, this car will not pass unless I have my rear drums switched?" He said no it won't pass, and walked away, while I went back to the waiting area. Twenty mins later, my car was buttoned up and ready to go (with a new inspection). Although this type of interaction isn't ideal, it's all too common in many auto repair places/dealerships. I've just come to expect it everywhere/anywhere. Overall, a good shop! The female shop manager was too busy talking to the guy selling his car in the shop and then the guy who was suppose to be working on my car. I received an email from Mavis reminding me that it was time for my car inspection. Made 2 appointments through the website, one for Monday and one for Tuesday, then called to cancel one of them. The man over the phone said it was fine to keep the Monday one. When I get there the man at the counter said they do not have a state inspector on Mondays. How is it that the website allows me to make an appointment for a car inspection for a day when the store cannot honor it? But that's not the worst part. I tried to explain how I made the appointment online and how I called the store after to the man in the counter, but he cut me off a couple of times. He was not interested in hearing about it. When I insistent and mentioned that I had talked to someone on the phone as well, he said that must've been the new guy as if that were my problem. He was not apologetic or understanding at all, instead he seemed annoyed that I was disappointed I couldn't get my car inspected after I made an appointment and moved my schedule around to get there. I listened to the person behind the desk continually telling people that there was only one person doing inspections, that they take an hour, and there were 4 or 5 of them there so at 11:30, I looked outside to see that my car was still sitting exactly where I left it. Beyond horrible. Went just for an oil change and they tried telling me I needed new struts and control arm and that I more or less had no front suspension and thats why my car drives all bumpy... (did they take it for a test drive too cause my car sure as hell drives smooth) told them just do the oil change and nothing else cause last time they wanted to help they cost me more money in the long run. They went so far as to bring me in the garage to show me something "cracked" again, told them to JUST do the OIL CHANGE! Worst experience ever! My car went into the shop fine and came out barely able to drive. They told me my axle was leaking and should be replaced as well as front struts and front control arms. We okd the work and they told us ot would take a day to repair. Fine ok! 2 days later they had ordered the wrong part and had to wait to gwt the right one in. Ok again so they got us a rental so I could go back and forth to work and finally after a week they called and said my car was done. I went to pick it up after the bill being over $1400.00 and as I'm leaving the parking lot onto a main highway my axel which they just replaced fell out and the car was undrivable. Luckily I was able to pull right into another parking lot before the car got hit. So yet again I have to leave the car. After another week of waiting to get the right part I get a call saying the car was ready. Ok go pick it up again. Start driving down the highway and it is whining and clunking while being driven. Call them back and call corporate and they admit that the axel falling out caused damage to my differential. So they say they will replace it and they replace it with a junkyard one and it takes another week for them to put it in. I go pick it up and still same issue. We then brought it to another mechanic who says the differential is definitely no good and called them so they said it was under warranty and to bring it back. So they tell us they replaced the differential again and I go pick it up and they tell me they test drove it and everything was fine! Nope wrong again it is still whining and grinding and they say now oh thats from the transfer case not what we did. Well I took it to the jeep dealership and had a full diagnostic done and what do you know, bad differential. We call the store and corporate who hangs up on us now when we call and they do nothing!! I gave them more than enough chances to do right by us and this is the way they choose to conduct business! Do not ever use Mavis to do anything but put tires on your vehicle! Even then I dont trust them. They will never receive business from us again and I will spread the word of how bad their customer service is. read more

Got new tires installed and balanced. Car shook after I drove off so balance was off. Went back the next day to have it balanced again. Same issue. They told me to bring it by the next day again and then they wouldn't take my vehicle in right away to fix the issue though it was something they should be correction. I needed my car right away and now have to drive with a vehicle shaking. They know I'm a first responder and this is how I was treated. I'm going to take it somewhere that knows what they are doing. I went in for a problem with my TPMS system on my 2017 GMC 1500. The price they quoted me for the repair was fair. The repair took almost 2 hours. Then I am told they program the tire and I need to drive it 25 miles for it to reset. I am assured this is normal, even though I have had them replaced once before and never had to do this. So I drove 130+ miles and still wouldn't reset So I did my own research on how to program the TPMS on my truck. They never properly put the truck into program mode so the sensor could not link to the truck. I called and was told to come back to have them look at it again. This time the manger went out side to look at it. I told him the proper way to program the system properly. He did what I told him and magically the TPMS are now working the proper way !! Oh they let half of my gloves box content on the floor of the truck. BC Very disappointed once again with the service from Mavis this is the second time,And second location that has not lived up to my standards as a customer. So I called your customer service over a week ago as per your request. Nada single response back from your company so I guess customer satisfaction isn't important to you. I have taken my vehicle to this location for many years and I have never had a problem. I took my vehicle in for an oil change and was told I needed new calipers because they were leaking and brakes. I did not feel comfortable with what they were telling me. I had taken it to another mechanic and I was told they were not leaking and I did not need brakes for awhile. This was a few months ago. My Husband went in today to have his brakes put on. They came out to tell him his calibers were leaking. They weren't leaking before he went in. They brought him in and showed him that they are both leaking. Now he cant leave because this has to be done... I will never go back!!!! Somone needs to look into this place!!!!! read more

Went in to get struts replaced on the car, only to find out that they did not do a complete job and decided to not include parts necessary for the job and have it held together by zip ties. Only found this out after taking the car to another garage after still hearing a rattling noise. We could not simply take it back to Mavis to have it fixed because we needed a loaner car as the job would took longer than a day to fix. Couldn't get refunded after it was fixed elsewhere because corporate only cares about their bottom dollar and would rather have the same people put zip ties to fix it, to fix their own mistake. In other words, do your research when getting a job done on your car and avoid mavis if you want to ensure your car is fixed correctly. read more
