About nine months ago, I purchased windshield wipers from Mavis. Unfortunately, the wipers were defective and separated from the car wipers several times, including once while I was driving along 287 (fortunately they remained pinned to the winshield and didn't fly off of the car). Steve from Mavis took one look at the wipers and was shocked at how they separated so easily. Rather than give me a difficult time, Steve replaced them without a problem. I brought my car to Mavis Discount Tire in Morristown to have my tires rotated. They called me and said the left front tire needed to be replaced, the back brakes were 70% worn and the battery was leaking. I had the back brakes replaced less than 3,000 miles ago and the battery was replaced less that 6 months ago. Also I checked all the tires and none of them needed to be replaced. They said they could not do the rotation since one tire needed to be replaced. What a waste of my time. read more

I thought my tire just needed some air but while I was driving there my tire completely shredded. I was so panicked and scared. By the time I got there I was sobbing. The gentleman at the front Kaodichi walked out with me. I told him I was scared I damaged my rim too. He said the rim was fine and he just had a soothing presence. I finally stopped crying. They were able to get me in and out, I cried a little more because of how they treated me with such care and respect. I highly recommend this Mavis. read more

Horrible experience -- avoid this place. This location is not professional, not efficient, and completely unreliable. I went in simply to have a nail removed from my tire. After waiting three hours, they told me they could not remove the nail and then tried to pressure me into buying a new tire -- even after I explained that I couldn't afford one. I had a flat tire and showed up to Mavis unannocued at 7:45am. Mavis opens at 8am. Luckily Steve was at the counter with a smile ready to help me! I was very stressed out driving from Jersey city and he was so calm, kind and caring. He even said Mavis could help me get an uber to work. We then spoke again about the tire once the mechanic came in and he explained everything in detail to me with care. He made sure to work with my budget and get my car back on the road asap. These guys are the worst, 15+ years ago was a different story, now they give you the full court press on work that isn't necessary (my 17 yr old busted a strut om a curb, car had 18K miles, manager initially refused to replace just the broken one, cited "safety reasons" - had the car towed in, he quickly changed his tune when i called the tow company to take it elsewherel. I had come accross a great deal in a pristine 12 yr old mercedes a with 14K miles, garage kept and dealer maintained, just needed new tires to sell, when i went to pick it up EVERY WHEEL suddenly had gouge marks from having been laid down on the face, if not knocked over. Will NEVER go back again, I'd rather drive a mile on a bare rim then use them again - even to put air in a tire! read more

This is an upsell what you don't need shop. I had a noise coming from the rear of suv so I brought it to Mavis of Morristown on E Hanover Ave They said I needed front and rear shocks. So they worked on it charged me approximately $1000. Squeak continued. So I brought it back and they said you need rear shocks and sway bar linkages. Another $1k. Noisy squeaky sound continued. Today I brought it back made them look at it with me and told the mechanic to shake the exhaust and bam that was it. 2 screws were hitting the exhaust from the tow bar which were there the whole time. So I absolutely asked for my money back and was told to prove it. I said I just did. The store manager who was rude walked me over to a bin of brake rotors and said jump in and find your old shocks and prove they did not need replacing. I took a look at her thought this not worth the effort. 10 years I have used mavis in different locations and now I'm done with them all. read more

I had to replace the two rear tires last month since they were leaking air. Also needed struts. They were rusted out and looked defunct. The crew did the job and Anthony made sure that I didn't overpay since I chose to also flush the brake and steering fluid by bundling and I was very pleased with the result. You need to focus on what needs to be done and Anthony took care of my car and me! Today I had to replace the 2 front tires. They were the 2 remaining original tires that were 6 years old and they were also leaking air. Even though I added the 2 tires separately a month later, Anthony gave me the 4 tire discount and didn't overcharge me for balancing and all other charges. I went in for brakes and tires. Mavis quoted me $1000 for rear brakes only because "your car has a special motor for the emergency brake". I called the dealer who is now charging me $500. Was told they will not take my car till 3, and I would have to wait there because they don't take appointments, that it is first come first serve. They further claimed that I didn't call them and that I do not have an appointment I showed them my phone and proof that I called, they claimed it was not their number. I showed them google and it is their number on google. They claimed google is wrong. I went to my car and called the number on google, and the guy inside picked up the phone. Make an appointment but they don't honor appointments, and will deny you ever made an appointment, because their phone number is not their phone number... so it's impossible you ever called them in the first place. No discount about it! I've been all over Morristown over the last few years trying to find someone I can trust with my car, and this is the most I've ever been charged for some tires. I'm worried they were trying to take advantage of me because I'm a girl, and I was with two other women in the waiting area who were also trying to make some expensive choices. I ended up deciding to take my vehicle elsewhere, upset that it took them 3 hours to even look at my car though. Cheapest oil change ever, though, but it shouldn't take 3 hours for an oil change. They answer the phone quickly, however when I replaced all 4 tires with Goodyear MaxLife's they didn't inform me that one of my rims may be a caution to my tire. My tire became flat because part of it separated from my rim. I came back to get the issue solved and found out then that they were originally aware that my rim was a caution and they used a black sealant to try and avoid any problems WITHOUT informing me. The tire separated from the rim WITHOUT me hitting any pothole and they essentially tried to blame me for not getting the warranty, and replaced my tire with a cheap tire brand with a similar trim. ON TOP OF ALL THIS BULL, they are unorganized and take forever. ALL 3 times I was here for over 2 hours. Ridiculous. read more

I bought four new Mavis tires in November 2021. After having these tires for a couple months, I noticed a bulge in one of the tires. I went back to the store to get it replaced and it wasn't covered in my warranty because nothing is covered in the warranty (DON'T BUY IT). The guy said it's not covered but he'd give me a deal for the tire (he did not tell me a price or anything). When I returned to pick it up he told me my total would be $210... the tires were $129.99 each when I originally bought it. So that "deal" he mentioned was a flat out lie. I'm writing this sitting in the waiting room. I scheduled an appointment for 10am to fix a slow leak on my front tire. I thought should be relatively quick in and out considering I had an appointment. I'm now 2hrs past my appointment time & still no one's looked at my car. They keep telling me I'm next in. Why have an appointment system if you can't stick with it. So following on from the above, it's a day later & i'm appalled by their customer service. I arrived at Mavis for my appointment at 10am. Took 2 hours before they took it in & put it on the lift & another 30mins for them to actually look at it. Finally they tell me a nail has gone through sidewall of my tire & it can't be repaired so I'll need a new tire. Ok, but they don't have the tire I need in stock. Good news is they can get it in 40mins. Great! They order the tire & the guy behind the counter says "it's turned green that means the tires out for delivery" I wait for another 40 mins then the guy says. "It'll definitely be here today but now not sure when." So he decides that we should take the car down & I can at least go home & he'll call me when it arrives. I tell him I can't get back that day but will come back the following morning when they open at 8. So I'm ready to head back at 8am but decide to call first just to check. When I call I'm told the tire's not in & they have no idea when they'll have it. I then explain what I was told the day before & the guy on the phone all but accuses me of lying. Tell's me there's no way a tire could get from the warehouse to them in 40 mins because the warehouse is 45mins away. So here I am 2 days later with no call back and no resolution. Just a definite no -service & wait times mean this is not the place to go. I ended up ordering from a local place. They had the tire in an hour, installed & balanced & out the door 20 mins after I arrived. They were also about $75 cheaper than Mavis. Go to Dean Tire discount center instead. Quick courteous service and they don't try to up sell like Mavis do. read more

Mavis Overview: Terrible customer service by the man the works the front desk, they purposefully orders wrong things, and are overpriced. Went there for a double flat tire and the guy was nice at first. They had to order my Bridgestone tires and told me it would be a few days. Then they called me to say they "accidentally" ordered the wrong type of tires, but no worry, they can adjust so that the same type of tires are on the same axles. When I asked about ordering the right tires they said it would be another week. When I said it's their issue and should have ordered the right ones, the front desk guy said "what do you want me to do, make them for you?" After this nightmare was finally over I spoke to 2 different people who said they "accidentally" ordered the wrong tires for them as well. I assume they do it to either turnover inventory or the other tire is a higher margin for them. then they back the customer into a corner and force them to take the tire by telling them the correct tire won't be in for another week. The tire order was not an accident. I went to pick up my car, and saw that was charged for an alignment , which I only needed because they screwed up the tire order in the first place. And I was told SO MANY TIMES by the front desk guy "how much of a break he cut me." Like I should be thanking him. Then I drove out of the lot and my car was so out of alignment I had to hold the wheel at a 45 degree angle to make the car drive straight. As it was 6pm I didn't have time to go back, so I called and told them what happened and that I'd be back in the morning. Next morning, I went back and the man at the front desk told me that 1) no one told him I called and I must have done something to it in the 12 hours I had it in my driveway 2) that "his guy" did the alignment so I was wrong 3) that it was obviously my fault and would have to go through insurance. Then when I tried to explain how much it was pulling he put his finger in my face and said HOLD ON. When he was explaining to the mechanic that the issue may not be my alignment and something else, the mechanic was saying it was probably an easy fix. the front desk guy kept telling him- but it's probably something else, riiiiighttttt. As if leading him to say my car was worse off than it really was. Please do yourself a favor and stay far away from this miserable excuse they call a shop. I plan on contacting the better business bureau with this since it's such bad business practice. read more

Wrecked a tire. Mavis installed the set so they were my first choice to replace it. Called, in stock in the warehouse, came the next day, cool. But after promising immediate repair they took six hours. At pick up the front desk customer service agent Nick made it especially unpleasant including a snarky comment on my service order "cust has trusty mechanic." And just to make it weird the shop in/out mileage on the ticket shows a change of almost 5000 miles lol. read more

I brought my SUV for an oil change and tire rotation. I confirmed with the person when I dropped my SUV and when I received the call when it was ready they needed service. They even asked the Mechanic and said yes about the rotation was done. Before I drove way I checked and the SUV tires were never rotated. I had to wait again for the car to be ready and in addition the mechanic was talking to another person for another Five minutes. The quality of this location has gone way down. I used this location for 20 years since they were STS. I AM NOT A Big Fan Mavis Tire anymore. When you pay Car Dealership prices you should get Dealer Services. read more

I had all 4 of my tires replaced here about 5 months ago and have been back 6 times since, and will need to go back for the 7th for a tire issue they can't seem to identify and have refused to just replace the tires. Each time I have waited around 2-3 hours, none of those times taken in as a priority costumer. It wasn't until my 6th time that someone even offered something for the inconvenience (free oil change). Stay away Update: came in my 7th time and again zero resolution. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I bought tires online and had an appointed time for a reservation at 1PM Tuesday. When I arrived at the appointed time I was told that the reservation meant NOTHING, and that I would have to wait at the end of the line of people who had showed up, some 2 hours or more. When I said I wanted to cancel the order and have my $25 deposit refunded, the young woman I was dealing with said I could come back in 1.5 hrs and I would have "priority" positioning in the queue. When I came back in 1.5 hours I was told the queue was even longer I would have to get on the end of it. THEIR WORD MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! They obviously don't believe in repeat business because they were very rude and haughty about how they treated this formerly repeat customer. read more
