The only thing I can truly say that was good about my experience at Mavericks was the WiFi service. Unlike the restaurant service, it was always there for me. It took close to 40 minutes for my group to receive our food and we saw the waitress once in that time, only to hear "Would you like more water?". Also in those 40 minutes of waiting, 2 separate groups were served their food before us, despite arriving after us. Needless to say I was very displeased with the waitress and whoever was preparing the food. After finally getting our food I became more unhappy with the place. I got the "Cadillac burger" and I was barely able to eat it. It was extremely dry and over cooked, in fact the barbecue sauce was the only thing that allowed me to actually swallow each bite. Worst managed restaurant on earth. In Sept went on a Sun pm to watch my favorite NFL team. Place is not big. Sat myself at table and watched a server walk past me with eyes forward for 20 min before I finally got up and stood in his path. Now tonight I sat alone again and was ignored 15 min. A nice lady server --after two tables of golfers came in after me and did receive service--she came up and asked if I wanted to order something. I was incredulous. After listening to excuses like they don't have enough help or perhaps the other server didn't see me---excuse me? A waiter doesn't see a patron sitting at a table 15 minutes? ---I realized I didn't want to give this crap-hole a penny and left! read more

I feel very disrespected as a woman. My friends and I were sat at a table in the very back on a night with live music. No one consistently checked in on us. The female bartender eventually left the bar to make sure we were tended to and was very nice. However, after 3 hours of enjoying the music, we ordered our 4th drink and the male bartender came over to us at the bar and told us he couldn't serve us our 4th drink we requested. He said, "that is a lot to drink for a man and I can't serve it to you." I didn't understand why he was limiting our drink choice as women. I immediately requested the check and we left as soon as we were settled. Other patrons remarked they were cut off prematurely as well and didn't understand why. But don't count on anything to be available because it's usually met with "we are out of that". Bar service is THE WORST! This place sucks! We waited over an hour for a large pepperoni pizza and when it arrived we find that it was frozen pizza as in worse than a great value brand from walmart! We told the server and she told is that they sometimes don't make their own pizza and even confirmed that the pizza guy was not there this day. The manager then comes over and insists that this is their own crust and that we did not wait that long for it...but if you had frozen pizza before you know they all kinda taste the same..you just know by the appearance even. They say this is a restaurant and then they give you disposable plates and cups...The servers appeared to be really young girls like early teens and they were wearing reeaaaally short shorts which we didn't find appropriate just because of how young they were. I would not recommend this place...you are better off buying your own $5 frozen pizza at Walmart and baking it yourself. read more

I wouldn't, couldn't even give this a 1 star. From the moment you enter this place, you get a bad feeling. Totally mismanage, (I can't believe owners are there). Seems like waiters and bartenders don't know what going on. A lot of wasted time. After waiting for 20 minutes and still no waiter asking if we even wanted water, we left. We also noticed a couple leaving when they sat there with no service. We noticed people were getting annoyed sitting there as well. I have to believe the food stinks there.... read more

We are in town for my father and his twins 70th birthday. We decided to eat at Maverick's because we were gonna have people meet and greet them before the big party the next day. We placed our food order at 6:30 and the food didn't arrive until 9!!! Only explanation we could get was "sorry the kitchen is really busy"! We ordered three salads, chicken wings, a pizza, fish and chips, grilled cheese, nachos, fries green tomatoes, a burger and mozzarella sticks! The people next to us ordered after us around 645 and they got there food about 815-830. We had two young children in our party and luckily they did very well waiting but a 6 year old and a four year old shouldn't have to wait 2.5 hours for a salad and grilled cheese! The staff was completely lost and had no clue what anyone there was doing. Had we not had 20 some people meeting us there for drinks we would have just walked out. Took 20 min just to get a couple beers to the table. Their is absolutely no excuse for food especially three salads, "nachos" which was just canned black bean dip with about 12 chips stuck in it! The pizza didn't get to table till 930! 3 hours to get a pizza?! 2.5 hours to get the rest. Absolutely the worst service I've ever seen! Maybe the kitchen should be shut down until they have the kitchen staff that can handle a moderately busy Friday night! Their wasn't a wait for a table the whole time we were there but maybe that's cause people know it's more of a place to get a drink not food. The food was ok wasn't anything to write home about and certainly was not worth 2.5-3 hours after the order was placed! We tried to eat here last spring and were unsuccessful. There were 4 other people in the restaurant when we ordered 2 over priced hamburgers. After a 35 minute wait and several complaints we finally got up and complained to who we were told was the manager. He could have cared less and told us our ice was free, big deal. We have been to this place in its various incarnations over the years. Maverick's Pointe continues the tradition of being very uneven in food and service. You just never know. Fun and welcoming. A coastal version of Cheers! Live music on the weekends and karaoke on Wednesday. The food is fresh and many items are made in house. The deck is great! Dogs are welcome. Shrimp basket and the flounder basket are sooo good, lightly breaded and fried. Potato salad is a great side if you don't want fries. Ask for a chicken or shrimp quesadilla, it's not listed on the menu but it's one of the best I've ever had. Ours came out and 3 other people around us ordered it as well. The view is beautiful and the staff is friendly. When it's busy, expect to wait a bit as with any busy restaurant but you won't be disappointed. read more

It was your normal example of a beach bar and pub. Nothing too extravagant, nothing to flashy. They can take their food to the bank though. Really juicy burgers with deep flavors with lettuce, tomato, and onion on standby incase you need a little texture change. I'd say service was what took this review from being a 4 to a 3 but it is not due to the food at all. Just the lack of staff seemed to restrict interaction and timely service. My friends and family had raved about the onion rings here...we were in the mood for a good burger so we stopped in on a saturday at lunchtime. A while after placing our order, the waitress came back and said they didn't have any onion rings...really? how could a place like this be out of onion rings on the middle of the weekend? My wife and I are locals and we had lunch here one day this past week. I'm giving this 3 stars because I think it was just ok, and view 3 stars as average but I think it could be a lot better, It's a new restaurant so they need some time to fix the things that I didn't like. First off the folks working there were terrific so you'll get good friendly service. The restaurant is clean and so were the restrooms. I think the menu was very limited, other than a good selection of burgers, and there are better places in the area to get the same food but with a larger selection. I had a cheese burger that was good but not great and there are definitely other places within 10 miles to get a better burger. The steak fries were real potatoes which I liked but they were too salty. My wife didn't want a burger and there weren't many choices for her so she had a grilled chicken salad. It was ok but the portion was small for the price. So my advice is to try it and see if you like it because it is a nice place and if people eat here, they may offer more selections. My advice for the owners is to 1) expand the menu to include maybe club sandwiches, steak sandwiches, sausage sandwiches etc. 2) Cut back on the salt. Let people salt their own food if they like a lot of salt. 3) bigger portions given the price so either reduce the price by a dollar or increase the size to be more competitive with similar restaurants. read more

I think it's a great place. They have a few TVs for sports watchers and live music to provide a very present atmosphere. The beer selection is about 50-50 craft beers and non. The menu has less seafood options than most other dining establishments in the area. Don't get me wrong, I love seafood, but it's just as nice to have a place to get wings or a burger and cold beer. They do seem a little under staffed, but don't let that stop you from checking it out. read more

This is my new favorite place in Sunset Beach! It has a great local feel and the service is fantastic. The bar had a good selection of beers to chose from and the food was awesome! We gave this place a try June 16,2018, since we have been to most other places in town and haven't yet tried this one. We had been to visit a friend in town and wanted to grab a bite, looking for a place to eat that was open since it was almost 9:00pm. This place advertised they were open until 10:00 so we went. Once we sat down, the server told us they shut down the rest of the menu and were only serving basically fried appetizers and chicken fingers. We ordered chicken fingers and fries. Every time our server left us she went and stood with the other servers by a wall on her phone and ate. She would rush her time with us, speaking quickly and go back to her spot. Our server brought out our food and didn't check back much. I waited to eat because I needed some different sauce. I finally got some and the chicken tenders tasted like frozen ones I get from the grocery store and cook at home. We would have been better off getting chicken tenders and fries at Hardee's. I like theirs much better. I was extremely disappointed with this place. At least we can say we tried it. We will not be back. The food and service are horrible. Menus is pretty much hamburger and wings . My mom ordered wings but they were out of regular wings, so she got boneless . She said they are so so in taste. I ordered the hamburger and fried pickles. Hamburger tasted ok but a little on the dry side. Fried pickles I didn't care for and FF were like they fried them twice, real greasy. Waitresses was nice though. I doubt I will be back and this place is close to my home. read more
