We have eaten here previously and have never been disappointed. But this time we just had to mention our dissatisfaction with the service. The food as always was good. We love the burgers. But our waitress had to be one of the worst we have encountered. Not friendly, got all of our drink orders wrong. Brought our appetizers without silverware or plates. My husband had to get up & get them. In today's environment we never leave less than 20% tip but sadly today we just could not bring ourselves to give it. She was the only waitress from what we could see but it wasn't super crowded. Sorry Maverick, we love your food but your waitress will keep us away. read more

We spent two days looking for a cool place to go in Sunset/Ocean Isle and landed here RIGHT before heading out of town, unfortunately. We should have started (and ended) the whole weekend here! I had the honey hot chicken wings and she had the The Pointe burger, both were excellent. Plenty of parking, a laid back casual atmosphere and good for families. Great prices on food and drink and a cozy outdoor seating area. If you're lucky, you'll get Bo as your bartender, he makes a mean Bloody Mary. We were only there during lunch hours, so I'm looking forward to the next trip when we can check out the live music and evening crowd. read more

Have eaten at the place three times always good food. But awesome people. My husband left wallet on table. It was returned full intact. Great food and awesome staff. We will definitely be back!!! Melissa Lingle read more

Average beach food but this place is made to drink. We love coming off a hot beach day and rolling to mavericks to slam a few beers and a shot and off we go. If u are into that then this place is for u read more

Not service dog friendly. It's funny they say they're pet friendly. I was not seated and was told I'd have to stay outside with my service dog. It was 90 degrees outside and that's an ADA violation. So I won't go back. read more

Decent burger and fries. This is basically a sports bar. Lots of TVs. Lots of alcohol. Above average bar food. We eat here for the convenience. I gave it four stars since it's a great place to hang out with a beer and your fav sports fans. As a restaurant alone, it would be three stars. read more

I was in town for my family reunion. I have a bad seafood allergy and there's nothing but seafood buffets in the area expect this restaurant. Typical bar food. Not good but not bad either. Service was good. No major complaints about this place. If I am ever back in the area I'll definitely be back. read more

I really wanted to like this place, I'm a local and am always looking for a new spot to enjoy a meal in the summer. When I got the menu I was surprised to find that the only options are really just burgers and salads. I ordered an appetizer of mac and cheese bites which were honestly good, but not restaurant quality (could've been kraft mac and cheese, let's be real) and the price was 5 dollars.... for 6 small pieces. They were good, but not for a dollar a piece. My friend and I ordered burgers, which were top notch but when you have to wait so long and pay for an overpriced burger, the excitement fades. For my sister, she ordered a salad with grilled chicken , which she seemed to enjoy but her takeaway in the end was "too much lettuce, not enough chicken" ...... in my opinion that's a little sad considering you had to pay an extra four dollars for the chicken. Overall, disappointed, overpriced, and still looking for that special spot. read more

This was an amazing meal!! We've been coming to Sunset Beach for years and this is our first visit. Food and atmosphere are excellent!!

The mystery of the bad reviews.... On Saturday, July 20, 2019, my family had a late dinner at Maverick's Pointe. There were 7 of us. Our order was 3 Makin the Bacon Cheeseburger, one The Philly with no bun, one Wicked Wings with BBQ, and one fried cod. We were all very pleased with our meals. The fries were fabulous! I ordered The Philly with no bun because I am allergic to wheat. The waitress was happy to accommodate my request. We enjoyed the music as well played by two fellows with guitars. I will definitely eat at this restaurant again. read more

Just ordered from Mavericks Pointe and the burgers/cheeseburgers fries and onion rings were EXCELLENT!!! Mr Bo you are doing a great job for us all. THANK YOU for being here for us during this trying time. WE WILL BE BACK TO VISIT WHEN THIS "SOCIAL DISTANCING" IS DONE! read more

We have a home here and Maverick's is our go to place for when we roll into town or just want a quick lunch or a beer. The food is simple, but reliably good. The burgers are among the best in the area. Table service can be spotty, but that's true of many places in the area given the very limited talent pool from which to choose. Mavericks has one of the best beer selections around and Beau and Connie at the bar are fabulous. They really take care of the locals, which we appreciate! Live music here can be problematic. Not only the quality of some performers, but the venue is too small for most of the "louder" artists. Works well for solo/acoustic performances. Overall , Maverick's is a solid addition to the local bar/food scene. read more

This is probably the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. We have visited her quite a few times service has never been great but this last time this past weekend 5/25/19 was the worst. We were seated near the windows in the back and there were flys everywhere at the windows. We asked to be moved and we were across from the windows. Another couple came in and seated at the windows same area. They also asked to be moved because of the flys. A worker was sent out to kill the flys with an electric fly swap which he did while we were having our meal so you could hear all the flys being zapped. Never bothered to clean them up just left the dead ones there. If the dining area is this way I can only imagine what the kitchen is like!!!! read more

Absolutely the worst and most Disrespectful bartender we have ever met. We came In for an after dinner drink and we're refused service even though we were not intoxicated. The bar staff is absolutely the worst in the most disrespectful. Never have I ever been so disrespected nor will I ever go back. read more

Never experienced such an unprofessional response to something being left out of my to go order. The "manager" would rather argue about whether or not I actually received the 2 missing burgers than admit fault and offer to replace them without being a dick. Yes, "manager," you were the dick, though you made a point to call me, the customer, one when I called about the missing food I paid for. read more

Me and my dad were skeptical when seeing the previous terrible reviews, but we were hungry and didn't want seafood so this was our only option upon arriving we were quickly seated by a gentleman(the owner I think) and took our drink order instantly. We then looked over the menu a little on the higher side but what isn't these days, my dad order the cheese burger medium rare which actually came out "juicy, medium rare and lots of taste", I ordered the chicken tenders cause I've been let down on cheese burgers recently, they came out "warm, juicy, thick breading pro or con" . The gentleman was very attentive we got refills without having to ask. Overall a good and surprisingly experience. I honestly can say that this restaurant is no longer like it's previous reviews it has done a positive 360 from the recent 0/1 star reviews, I would recommend giving this a try now! read more

Second time here. First time we sat at the bar and had drinks. Tonight we came in for dinner and were "greeted" by our server (Chelsea) who scowled at us as we sat down. When she did approach the table she said "do you know what you want"? and made our table feel that we were inconveniencing her. No hi, welcome, have you been here before. I hate to leave a bad review but damn. I didn't know we were putting the server out by stopping in to spend money. We asked to have our wings come out first and watched as the tables around us arrived 30 minutes after us received their items. We finally asked the bartender if she was willing to check on our order as our server never checked back on us. The bartender apologized, was super nice, went out of her way to check back with us and was the person that received our $20 tip. Please get hospitable servers before summer time. read more

If I could give it zero stars that would still be too high. Went there with my family and friends. After an hour wait, the food came out with the exception of my wife's and I. The group extremely slowly ate their meal, as they all felt guilty for eating in front of us. The entire table was finished with their meal and ours still hadn't arrived. At this point, I was extremely frustrated and told them to cancel our order. The only thing that was done to attempt to make it right was they did not charge us for the two meals that never came. I have never written a review for any restaurant experience I have ever had, but felt it was necessary in this case. Extremely disappointed in the service I received and will never return. The owners and their son all knew of the situation and did nothing to make it right. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone after the experience that I had read more

Absolutely poor service and barely mediocre food. Only able to leave 1 star where zero or negative stars would be more appropriate. Should you ignore my warning, expect to pay 5.99 for stale chips and a container of cheese whizz impersonating nachos. Adding a few ounces of canned chili, will cost you another 3.00. When we mentioned to a local store owner, she confirmed this was an unwise choice and much better accommodations were available nearby. We did mention to the waiter our concerns and he was unable to offer any explanation. You have been warned. Dine at your own risk. Cheers! read more

Don't do it unless you want to take your chance on medicore food and service! It's a literal toss up as to what you will get (just look at the other reviews). We have spent over a decade coming to this restaurant no matter what the ownership, but last year at MP was our last. I left feedback on FB and instead of having an owner or manager respond and resolve the issue I was attacked and called a liar. They will never admit that their staff is in the wrong and they are unprofessional at best letting their bartender handle thier issues on social media. If you want to keep it as a locals only bar then just say so! read more

Ordered my family burgers for takeout . Jalapeño burger was average as well as the bacon cheeseburger. We ordered them medium, they were cooked well done. Additional Bbq was missed even tho requested and charged. Even tho it's one of few restaurants near the island, we would not recommend. read more

Service not good. Food expensive for what you get. Won't revisit. Other options available to enjoy for a better vacation experience.

This place is run by people who just have no idea how to run a restaurant. And what's up with the two different names. the sign outside says something different than the actual business name. pretty confusing when we were trying to find it. but I will not need to find it anymore anyway... read more

This place is way too expensive and they add almost a 20% gratitude fee automatically to the bill if there are over 5 people in a group. We had 4 adults and 1 child and they still charged that fee. A shrimp cocktail is $16.99 and only comes with 5 little shrimp. They said they were out of most things on the menu which is already limited. Not good at all. read more

Asked myself, they only have burgers on their menu, so they must be good. How could you screw up a burger anyway? Well they figured it out...HORRIBLE....like eating a piece of leather read more

We went on a Tuesday night around 6pm. As we walked in, there were two parties already seated and a few people at the bar. There was one waitress and a man standing behind the bars (who we think was a manager). He yelled over "how many in your party". We ask to sit over by the bar and the man blew us off and sat us away from the bar section. We were seated with another party and the waitress seemed irritated. There were about 5 other parties that arrived after us. They are not greeting and two parties actually got up and left after not receiving any service. The poor waitress received no help from the man behind the bar and he could have easily helped her out. As for the food, we ordered three burgers. The food came out and the burgers were good and warm. The fries were a little cold, but overall the burgers were good. As locals here, we decided to give the restaurant a shot, but I doubt we will return. read more

The restaurant is a very cozy place with a good vib and nice seating options however the menu was extremely small and they did not have some of the things on the small menu. The service was good and the food came out fast but it most likely was fast because everything was deep fried. That was unfortunately because I was excited to have some nice fresh shrimp near the sea. Overall the food was alright and the inside was very nice but the menu was very small and what they did have was not as good as I had hoped. read more

We got chicken sandwiches. Cadillac and Philly. Both were great!! Fries were delicious and hot and they brought crackers and carrots out for my son which was super sweet. I wish the menu had more options. Very basic. But what we had was very very good! We will be back! read more

If you are looking for a place to chill, get away from seafood, drink a beer and watch a game, this is your place. The service is mediocre. Our waitress left in a middle of a shift and no one bothered to check on us until it was time to pay. I had to make a few trips to the bar to ask for things in the mean time. I wouldn't expect much out of this place. But it is a cool place to hang out and snack at. Typical bar food menu. read more

When we arrived at this restaurant, we were hopeful seeing the many cars in the parking lot that we were going to be served a good meal. At least with our visit, it did appear that they had sufficient wait staff. The menu prices weren't cheap, so another reason to expect a good meal. The wait was ridiculous, we were told by our server that our food was about to be plated. Unfortunately, after about 20 minutes waiting for our food to be plated, the food was delivered, cold. My daughter's meal took another 10 minutes to be delivered. I'm guessing it was because they completely overlooked her order. Needless to say, we were not impressed and won't be back. read more

Took us 45 mins to get a burger. Service was poor at best. Food was your standard bar food.

I came here with my momma and dad. We all loved our meals. The bang bang shrimp was my moms personal favorite. My dads favorite was black and bleu burger. My favorite was the bacon burger. My dad also says their beer selection is good. read more

Wow we just left this restaurant. After being told one of the meals we ordered would be taken off our bill it was still on my receipt so our waitress went to the owner to get it taken off and he basically come unglued on his employee and then carried out to us the customers. I was told that they can't just give food away and that they are trying to stay open. I said sir I never asked for the meal to be given to me for free that it was offered. The owner went way over on this one! I use reviews every time I'm out of town to decide where our family will stop to eat. Trust me when I say this will not be on our stops anymore. Parking lot was empty which should've been sign 1 then sign 2 we were told they lost all of their cooks which now makes sense. To top it all off he told his employee who was our waiter to shut up! His employee was trying to explain to him why the bill was incorrect. I have never seen an owner come out and approach customers this way! Awful!! And awful to treat his employees like that. Definitely pass this one up on your way out from Sunset Beach read more

I walked into the entrance of the restaurant and waited to be seated. I waited and waited and waited. There appeared to be one waitress and one bartender, both behind the bar, consumed in conversation with someone at the bar. They never looked toward me (where a customer might appear), so after an extended wait, I left - to NEVER RETURN! read more

If I could give 0 starts I would... waitress was rude didn't seem to care.. we had 7 people at the table one of us ordered wings when they came out everyone at the table lost their appetite from the stench, they smelled like sewage when we tried to speak to someone about it the waitress never came back so we couldn't tell her so we went to the bar and asked for the manager; the guy behind the bar stepped around and told us to get out of his face and back up . Then argued saying his wings where best in town and there was nothing wrong with them... I've worked in the restaurant business for years and this was completely unheard of. For someone to act this way period. Also for them to tell us we where wrong about not wanting to eat raw sewage wings that would not be good for our bodies, guess I should have ate them and when I got food poisoning maybe then he wouldn't have told us to get out of his face which we where not read more

If you just need to fill your gullet...go ahead. Nothing worth writing about here. Just frozen/processed food and a limited menu.

Sat at bar over an hour waiting on food that never came. Asked to pay for our drinks so we could leave. Order appears then in takeout boxes. Owner takes back to the kitchen and returns with incorrect order. By this time, we had enough and are just going to leave. Then owner asks if we aren't going to pay for our food. Omg, what a nightmare. read more
