We get asked to leave "saying we had too much to drink" after that I ask to speak to management I just got pushed out of the place by two of the workers that refused to let me speak their managers. Not to mention they were all up on me since I got there because I had a Los Angeles hat they kept on telling me to turn it around and my coworkers as well . I would but I was there last night and when I was on the phone trying to find my stepdad and my boyfriend by the men's bathroom since there wasn't a lot of people there and while on the phone a bouncer came up to me and just yelled move. I then told him I was on the phone and he proceeded to say move with no explanation and I kept telling him I was on the phone, then he picked me up up from my waist and shoved me across the hallway. Then once I got in contact with my boyfriend and met up with him to give him the keys he went up to my boyfriend with a completely different demeanor and was all nice and explained to him that I was by a door that opened outward and he just didn't want me to get hit, "bullshit" he could have told me that and I would have moved but no he just yelled move. I go to Mavericks to go dancing quite a bit and I like it there. It has a good dance floor and a large outdoor area as well. The seating inside is cramped and so on the weekends it is crowded. I like that they have water machines where you can get your own water. It usually has a $5 cover and a pretty good DJ. They also have dance lessons from 7-9 there Thursday's. ($5/person for a 1-hour lesson.) read more

The ugly, bad and good- in that order I got food poisoning from a mixed drink with fruit juice that was off. The bad-I was overcharged X3. Bartender made a deal about me signing the receipt with incorrect amount on it. Said no I dont agree. Back and forth we went for 10 mins. The girl at the front desk was rude, couldn't tell me where to sit (said there would be a reserved sign with our name on the table but the reserved signs have no names on them. I was in there couple weeks with a couple of my buddies just looking to have a good time. The bartender first assumed i drank corona maybe because im brown not sure what that was about. A friend of ours is new to Texas and loves Country music, but doesn't know how to line dance. We all thought it would be a good idea to find a place that offers line dancing, after our research, we found Mavericks Dance Hall. We all decided to go on Thursday night since the flyer we saw on the website (which is no longer on the website) says...Thursday Night...Ladies Night along with drink specials and $5 Line Dance Lessons. Perfect, or so we thought. We go to the Mavericks, they were taking donations for Pflugerville Pets Alive (Awesome and I gave). We noticed the dance floor was full of couples. Totally not what we were expecting, the flyer said Line Dancing, not Couples Two-Step. So we decided to stay and have an adult beverage. Oh, I forgot to mention we're in a bar and there was no music playing. While drinking and having a good time, one of the folks on the dance floor shushes us. Excuse me, we're in a bar, it's not my fault you can't hear the dance instructor. Suggestion: maybe the dance instructor should wear a microphone. One of my friends went to the restroom and said there was about 6 health code violations she could see, example...toilets were dirty (black stuff inside the bowl). The fiancée and I come here every now and then to have a few drinks and relax. We are usually there during HH and its usually pretty chill. I hear it gets poppin on Saturdays. The HH prices are great, One sat. we started out here but went across the street (drinks were cheaper but not by much but were a little stronger than at Mavericks) Ive never had any issues with racism here. Or issues at the door. Once we did have a group of guys that wanted to dance and were trying to convince my fiancée to convince me to dance with them. One of them intervened and said, no you dance with you're fiancée, you dance with the one you came with just to shut them up. (and I liked that) still had a great night and loved the music. Most times its just auto music playing. Only once I have I seen the DJ there, but I asked him to play a song and within minutes it was playing. LOVE that. I will be back.. after the wedding LOL. One of my favorite bars in Austin! I love that they offer not only a country dance floor, but also an outdoor patio with fun yard games. Came for 2-step lessons because Sandra Bullock made that shit look awesome in "Hope Floats". Went with a man-friend as he was interested in learning too (or trying o get into my pants, who knows?). While I waited for my man-friend to arrive, I talked it the other women in the class who all seemed to be going through divorces or traumatic breakups that they were going to dance their way through. (Dear Single Dudes: You really need to tap into this resource!). Class was taught by Kelly and Ryan (?) who were very much like The Ropers of dancing-- a little bickery but totally cute. My man-friend and I were shocked to learn that we would be swapping partners and he was sporadically paired with the divorcee I will affectionately refer to as Tits McGee. Because her twins were on display and my man-friend did everything he could to concentrate on her forehead (he's a good egg!). They dances are broken down so that they get a little more complex as you learn new steps. I was told I was a natural follower so I picked it up quickly...but then lost it all after a few whiskeys.. A fun way to spend a Thursday evening. Stay and watch the next class who do fancy things that make your jaw drop. read more

HORRIBLE BOUNCERS... My husband and I just moved to this area and have only been to Mavericks a handful of times. We really liked it initially, tons of great music to dance to and no minors to worry about. (Although, their drink prices are MUCH higher than other country bars in the area and the bouncers are on a power trip, constantly mumbling into their walkie talkies and wrangling up drunks...) Last weekend, on a whim, we decided to visit Mavericks again and just happened to run into a friend we hadn't seen in a long time. The night went on and everything was great until some trashy girl stormed out onto the patio, slammed her boot heel down onto my foot, hit our friend in the side of the head and punched one of his wife's friends square in the face. We all had the reaction of 'what the heck?!!' My husband, being bigger than the pathetic excuse of 'bouncers' they have, stepped in and pulled the offending girl off to the side and restrained her from hitting anyone else. Then, the bouncers quickly stepped in and took the offending girl to another part of the patio. The girl in our group was crying, holding her face and requesting ice and that the bouncers call the police. They completely ignored her request and promptly kicked all of us (about 6 people?) out. They told the other girl to leave (which was illegal, since she was fleeing the seen of a crime...). And, said if we wanted the cops called we had to do it. They didn't bother to get her name, license plate or any other identifying information. And, they didn't care that we had done absolutely nothing wrong. In my book, this is hands down the WORST experience I have had at any bar in the Austin area. They have a great concept and could have the potential to be around for a long time, BUT I highly doubt that will happen under the current management. Myself and my friends WILL NOT be back. I don't willingly give my business and my money to companies that have a complete disregard and lack of respect for their customers safety and well-being. Place ROCKS!! No cover before 8pm. Only smoking is allowed on the patio - non smoking inside. 21+ only!! Outside plays the rock and inside plays the country. They have a Burger Trailer outside along with a HUGE patio with alot of tables and various games. You should try it out if you haven't been - it is alot better than Grahams. read more

This place is about the best Country bar Ive been to in awhile. Great atmosphere clean restrooms and the staff is super friendly. Unlike thier nearest compeditor Ghetto Grams acros the street this place smells alot better and is less crowded. If you do want to smoke, the outside deck is super enjoyable with different games you can try out like giant jenga. There is a food service truck you can walk up to from the outside deck with reasonable prices and tastey food. This place also actualy plays country Music all night and mixes in alot of TX red dirt tunes so theres no sitting through 1 hour of pop music waiting on something country to dance to. Drinks specials are a little more expensive than other places but they are still very affordable at 2$ beers. If you do meet that special someone at Mavericks its very nice to walk out on the deck and have a place you can talk without shouting over loud music. I think I have found my new favorite place to hang out in the N. Austin pflugerville area. Im already planning to have my birthday party there. read more

Best place to dance, drink, and socialize. You can't please everyone, obviously, but I felt like the music was a good mix of older and new country, plenty of two stepping, one stepping, half stepping, waltzing or whatever you can or wanna dance! I am not a bar goer I'm a bar cleaner, I see the after math of a good night left behind in a dance hall some times going in to a bar after a good night makes a long night for me. However out of all the bars and restraunts I've had the privilege to clean mavericks is by far the most pleasant experience I've bad. The bar is very well maintained by staff throughout the night. The staff is the friendliest bar staff all very polite and friendly the owner is a stand up guy very genuine and cares not only about his bar and his staff but more so the experience people have when coming in to have a good fun time. Was referred to this dance hall from a friend of mine and immediately had second thoughts. Upon going to the bar, I proceeded by saying "Can I get 4 dos x for my friends, thanks" (we are all 21 and was currently next to me) and the bartender acted like I insulted her. Seriously, asking how I was raised and if my family ever taught me manners. This happened to not only with me, but another friend of mine. I not remember her name but was a shorter blonde young lady. We use to go there all the time until one weekend where we had an incident with a group of idiots. They tried to pick a fight with us all night and when we went and got management to let them know there was a problem, they kicked us out along with the troublemakers.
