My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. So much fun! Ordered a drink at the bar. They have mocktails that are not on the menu, so you have to ask. The hibiscus mocktail was so delicious and a deal at $4. My friend enjoyed her "grownup" hibiscus cocktail, too. So much fun to sing rounds of Piano Man, Sweet Caroline and Shout, that we came back the next day after another day of conferencing and closing down the adults only, Grotto Swim Bar, at the waterpark. Lose Yourself, the first time I've ever heard/sang a rap song at a piano bar. A great place to unwind after a long day of learning at Kalahari. The reason for our visit is their month-long Star Wars pop-up that started 5/4/26 (of course). They nailed it in every sense of the imagination from themed drinks (alcohol and n/a) to the interior and exterior decor. Hoot & Annie is currently The Mos Eisley Cantina. And, it is! It's as though we've been transformed from this town that's about 20 minutes from Austin to the actual Mos Eisley Cantina. My boyfriend is a huge Star Wars nerd and absolutely loves it. Retro looking furniture at the entry with finger dialed phones...my nieces and nephews would likely not have any idea what these little machines called telephones were. The bar was a mix of old - building built in the 1960s....new - modern mirrors and bar. There was signage at the front of the bar that stated to seat yourself and place your order from the bar (different set up...for sure). We ordered the hummus plate minus pita bread plus more cucumbers. Alan, our server was very accommodating to make that switch. We had herbal hot tea (chamomile and pomegranate berry). We left after spending $100, tipped 15% because I couldn't bring myself to do less but other than someone running the food to us the did nothing. We did self serve water and the flies were so bad (as to be expected outside) we had to just throw away stuff as we were "done" with it so nothing for them to even clean up. We left disappointed and hungry. I truly do not understand where the 4-5 stars are coming from. Service was non existent, atmosphere was run down and dirty, food was sub par at best. Two stars only because of I was in my mid 20's and looking for a place to watch a UT game it was totally my vibe. But other than the Vision it is a 0-1 star for me.
