Just moved to Irvine a couple months ago and this is our first time getting poke nearby. The plaza it's located in seems to be new, with new apartments/condos being built nearby. I believe this location may be new as well since we did not see this location listed on their website. They also seem to have changed their name from Ahi Poki Bowl. When we arrived around 7 pm on a Saturday, there was only one other customer in the store. The employee working was nice enough, but did not seem that happy to be there. Then again, who is happy working on Saturdays? They also ran out of white rice an hour and a half before they closed, which was a bummer but traffic may have been too slow to make a new batch. Other than that, we absolutely loved this place. First off, they have so many choices of protein! Another place we were considering only had 4 options, whereas MauiPoki has 13! Not to mention, they have unagi too, my favorite. They also have flavorful proteins, such as kimchi shrimp, blazing salmon, and tuna luau. And spam! And I saw a sign they serve seared tuna as well. Need I say more on the proteins? If it's not obvious enough, this place has an amazing selection! We both ordered unagi, and they cook/warm it before adding it to the bowl which was great. Nothing tasted fishy, and the portions were reasonable. I also like how they mix the sauces separately and put it over the protein vs. mixing the protein all together because I don't like my spicy tuna all spread out. They have a great selection of sauces (i think 8 or so?), and there was a lot of sauce throughout my bowl. I normally order a medium from poke spots with 2-3 proteins, but here I ordered a large plus an extra protein so a total of 4. I finished it all because it was so good! We will definitely return in the near future, and I can't wait to try spam and their unagi musubi! read more

Quick update on my review, I decided to give this spot a second try because my aunt wanted poki and it was walking distance to me. Also we had the bogo buy 1 get 1 50% off deal. Tonight I got to chat a little bit with the worker who was alone tonight and wow, I think he might have turned this place around. The reason being is because he told me he came from the Irvine location and managed that spot. I thought it was a good idea bringing in someone who had experience. In my taste, everything tasted so much more better. The rice was very good tonight, you can't forget about rice ! Lol. The poki was really fresh with the sauces I combined with. I love imitated crab as well and it was really fresh and tasted so good. I'm glad I gave this spot a second chance and I hope they keep it as good as tonights dish! read more

I've been going here for awhile but today they must have had someone new but he did not know how to make the correct sauce for the poke. I asked for house sauce for one bowl and house spicy for another. For house spicy, he literally gave me all spicy oil. It was so spicy I could not even eat it. I've been here many times and I know they usually mix the house sauce, sesame oil and house spicy to make the sauce. He didn't mix anything and gave me all spicy. Was excited to see another poke spot crop up near us, but that excitement was short-lived because this place is lackluster in comparison to others. First of all, the service is slow and unfriendly. I'll chalk that up to grand opening kinks. Now onto the poke bowl. It's your typical "make your own" poke bowl place where you start by choosing the base, then the proteins, toppings, and sauces. The price is high compared to other places, and the portions are skimpier. The small bowl is really small. They should put the stuff in a bigger bowl even if it's the same amount of stuff because it was challenging trying to mix everything together while trying to make sure none of my food spilled over. I liked the greater variety of proteins. For example, they had tuna already dressed with soy sauce and seaweed, and an option for spicy salmon (salmon mixed with a sriracha mayo) versus undressed salmon. Was unimpressed with their selection of toppings though. The proteins and toppings tasted fresh and were good quality, but the portions were skimpy and the price too high. read more

Poke spots have been popping up everywhere, so it's important to stay relevant in a sea full of fish... Ah ah ah.. Inside is very modern with clean wood, and origami like fixtures. Solid. Designer gets an A here. Basic protein options over rice, salad, and Kelp noodles! Prices on par with the average. Cue in the Ahiritto...as sushiritto basically...and its good. At $9 its a pretty decent deal for size/fish given. The fish was fresh, and their sauces were great. They also have these Juices I want to try, especially the Guava. I hope its good. They also have SPAM Musubi, that's next on my list. (2@$5) Workers are nice and polite, and they keep the place clean, never stop working. Great work ethic. All in all, a good establishment that I will probably frequent.... Hope they have a rewards program! read more

So I deffinitely was excited for the poke/poki for sure. I got a large which was honestly huge. could feed 3 people. when i ate my food it was extremely warm? i guess i could have put it in the fridge. the crab was super fishy. the spicy mayo sauce seemed to suddenly disappear. the bowl was pretty just basic. nothing extremely special. I got a guava drink which was just ok kinda bland. honestly paying $21 for just generic poki seems kinda like a waste. theres deffinitely better poke in oc read more

Great food, I got white rice with yellowtail, tuna, shrimp, definitely a healthy way to get your energy up. The house sauce with sweet citrus is really really nice mixed with all the fish and rice. read more

dawg i'm gonna be straight up. i prefer my poke with quantity over quality just because i like to eat a lot. this place did not do both. very little serving size plus the spoons they use to put the fish and toppings in your order are so SMALL. i got like 6 pieces of CORN. trust me when i say this, go to Uroko cafe instead. they tried to heat up my unagi with a little conventional grill and it's STONE COLD??? it's as if they forgot to turn it on... this place sucks and i paid almost $20 for all of this. go somewhere else. read more

This is my second time getting food poisoning here. I wasn't 100% sure the first time around but now I am. I had the salmon and tuna. I don't think the raw fish or one of their ingredients they used was fresh. They need to learn safe food handling and not use old raw fish and mask it with sauce. Maybe i just got unlucky but i had extremely severe stomach pains and diarrhea late that night and this was the second time it happened. read more

Went here last week. Fish portion is my biggest complaint. They use the melon ballers to scoop your fish. My daughter's order had just a few bites of tuna. I'm use to going to places like Jus Poke in Redondo Beach where they give you real Hawaiian style poke with real Hawaiian portions. Why in the world does a poke place need a "legitimate kitchen??" I love my fellow Yelpers but for goodness sake... This is a legit POKE place. Not a full out artisanal restaurant, but a SOLID poke joint. I agree the pricing is higher than other places but their stuff also tastes fresher and better. The tuna luau is great. They also offer to sear any fish you want for you at no additional cost on that famous "not a real kitchen" griddle that is behind the counter, but I actually would pass on that if you're picky about your sear level (like me) and if the fish is good on its own anyway, which it is. They seem to offer discounts sometimes (unannounced), such as $1 miso or $2 drinks. I don't know, man. I've been to 4-5 different poke places around Irvine, ever since Pokeworks took a nosedive into the dumpster. I now drive an extra 10 minutes to get my poke here. Give it a try at least once. At least the staff is always really nice. read more

very unassuming poke joint that will almost blow your mind by the bang for buck. for $16 this is probably the best poke around. quality fish and ingredients with some of the best sauces and reasonable prices and great portion, it's hard to beat this especially if you're in the north irvine area. for similar quality/quantity or less you end up paying $20 + easy anywhere else. give this place a try!! read more

Really wanted to love this place but my poke bowl was terrible. The portion was kids sized although I ordered a regular bowl. My container was drenched in a salty sauce that without a doubt, was done purposefully to mask the low quality of fish. I had to bring it home and add my own white rice at home to dilute the salt to a tolerable amount and be somewhat satisfied with my dinner. read more

Great location, I love the place. I only have two gripes about this poke joint. They have all the ingredients, they have excellent ingredients. The only thing is it seems that they don't know how to put them together. Serving a Chinese fast food plate is one thing, serving poke is a whole different ballgame. Yet another poke spot in OC! This one appears pricier than others at first glance, but we still gave it a shot. (Our usual spot was closed) The interior was very clean. When you compare large bowls at MauiPoki with large bowls elsewhere, these are much larger. Some of the fish options are pre-mixed - such as avocado and tuna - which is awesome bc duh... avocado. There was some confusion with the toppings... T was told 3 toppings only... however, I didn't see that anywhere on the menu board. So when it was my turn, and I asked about it, she let me have as many toppings as I wanted. Not sure what the deal was with that. Overall: everything was good. I was running errands over the weekend and was starving. Since I was already in the area, I decided to head to the Stater Bros. in Tustin for some grocery shopping. I stopped at Ahipoki first because I'd been there before for a Yelp event and knew that they offered spam musubi on their menu. I ordered an order to go but was so hungry that I ended up eating it all in one sitting. The spam musubi is made fresh to order so it was hot from the griddle. The rice was warm too. The service was friendly and I'm glad I stopped in for an order. It was good and hit the spot. Next time I'm in the area and I've a hankering for spam musubi (let's be honest, I usually do), I'll definitely stop in. Salmon tasted very fresh, and the poke bowl was pretty good! However, the bowl it's served in is very shallow so it's impossible to mix it without spilling. I would highly recommend a deeper bowl so that people can enjoy it without making a mess. The shoyu sauce and the citrus sauce were so good, I got them both and the combo tasted great. My husband and I came in trying something new and I'll tell you honestly that I've had some overpriced, under-portioned bland topping poke places all over the OC. So here is a picture of our amazingly delicious lunch which was beyond exceptional poke. Beautiful toppings, delicious and unique flavors including kimchi shrimp and tuna with avocado!! The miso soup was really yummy. The woman working was very kind and gave us the Thai tea half off and free soup because we were polite and kind to her!! Her level of service, the beautiful food, great service, clean shop all means we have found our new go-to poke and that is such a relief! And just an FYI to all those who complain and complain about service: it starts with you first a lot of the time. If you are getting consistently poor service then trust me - you are consistently a poor customer. read more

First time visit! Last placed visited on "The List" of the Dine Around the Tustin Legacy. There is a Regular ($9.75) & Large ($11.95). Regular has 2 scoops of Poki while Large has 3. I ordered the large with white rice (options: brown rice, half n half, or organic salad). Next I chose Tuna Luna, Kimchi Shrimp, & Octopus. Next I chose the House Spice & Garlic Soy Mirin (most popular btw), where they mixed in the Octopus, then placed on top of the rice. To TOP it off, I choose Onion, Green Onions, Edamame, Cucumber, Masago (2 scoops), Ginger, Pickled Radish, sprinkled with Furikake & Sesame Seed. Sound like a lot of toppings? It is, but it "fits" into the bowl. Mixed it up (carefully) before eating. Every bite had a sample of all the toppings & Poki in it. SIMPLY DELISSSSHHHH! The different tastes coming from the sauces, toppings, & Poki make for very satisfying and filling experience. Yay, I am a fan & will return when in the area. Came here the other day at around 4pm. Placed a large order which only came with 3 scoops but it filled the bowl pretty good. Overall it is just like your typical poke place. The house sauce they use is pretty good and I had a enjoyable meal. The only real reason I'm taking a star off is because the large scoops at other places are 5 instead of just 3. Not saying the 3 scoops won't fill you up because they absolutely do but you're paying a higher price for 3 scoops instead of 5. My local friend offered to buy me poke here. I got the noodles. Other members in my party, not having seen the selections inside the store, mistook them for vermicelli. Halfway through a segment of the ordering procedure the server stopped me from ordering more to mix the items already in the bowl. At Bay Poke they have a separate ordering segment for each category of ingredients so being interrupted caused my brain to have to hold in the next request, which I am not able to do for long periods of time before I forget. My friend paid so I don't know how much it was. As opposed to her item the noodle base poke came in a plastic takeout box, so I folded the lid up as a face shield while I took bites of food. The dimensions of the box exceeded the openings of the side loading trash cans in the food court, so I ended up spilling the leftover sauce over my hands while I tried to shove the box in there.
